Joe's gotten a lot better about letting others talk and not talking over them, makes reviews more enjoyable. As a fellow curmudgeon I like to hear Alex shit on everything because I do the same. Still got to ruin some of OJ's shits though, always funny.

Watch the spoiler video lol. He seems a bit rude when OJ has something to say and after, Joe's silent for a beat, loudly repeats OJ's last point and goes "Anyway" and then doesn't even have what he wanted to say collected lol. Like, yo if you don't have your bit collected, let someone else say something without being like, "Yeah, anyway, yadi yada yada."

sometimes I feel like they are just self proclaimed critics that they don't know what they are talking... .. They comment this one slow burn and when a movie is fastly paced , they say it needs to slow down and breath... makes it feels like they don't even know why it is supposed to be slow and why it is made fast.. . yeah some of what they point out are true and logical, but mostly they are just being nitpicky and overanalyzing the movies or games they review.. . these dudes also feels like they are tired of doing reviews, and feels like they don't want to these anymore or doesn't enjoy watching movies anymore, because they turned movie watching and gaming into their jobs.....

It fascinates me how it's always the same with Pelee's movies. People either say it's mediocre or at least average content, or a god-like experience. I do really believe that Jordan is an interesting director, but he's way too overrated. Get Out was fun, Us was stupid. I don't have any expectations for NOPE, and this review confirms that it's just more of the same.

I ALWAYS have subtitles on when playing video games and actually started putting on closed captions whenever I watched TV shows. My wife laughed at me and called me an "old man." Then we left them on a few times watching shows together and she got "used to it." Then, she started rewatching Game of Thrones from the beginning with them on and she said "Oh my God, I missed so much the first time through." With all of the characters with similar names, she wasn't sure which character they were talking about. Now? We both ALWAYS have subtitles on. It is so much better. We also love calling out spelling errors and subtitles that are completely different from what is being said. Also, the descriptions of sound effects are sometimes hilarious. Stranger things frequently used "wetly" e.g. "slurping wetly"

I think the opening shot was to establish the cautionary message of the film about trying to take a beast, wrap in up with a picturesque bow and parade it before a camera for the amusement of humans. Maybe more something like the movie Signs but set at that ranch (I went in knowing nothing about the movie). I have to say it wasn't scary at all and it had some bad moments where some characters just acted stupid (as in bad writing). I would give it a 4/10... it had some good build up, but then it just fell flat. I think they did a good job with the first and second act but from there it just started crashing down.

I loveddd Get out and thought Us was alright but man I found Nope sooo boring. And i know horror is subjective but i didn't find the movie scary at all except for that barn scene witch turned out to be a joke. I thought the look of the "Ufo" was cool and the idea of it hiding in the clouds was cool. But i found the film so confusing and not in a good way it felt like a bunch of random shit. I completely encourage everyone to go out and watch the movie. I have seen so my different views and takes on it and this is definitely a movie where that kind of thing can happen and lots of people are equating that to “movie = bad” which is so far from the truth. I loved watching this movie and it’s another great one from this year that has kept me thinking about it constantly after watching. Men, Black phone, everything everywhere all at once and Nope all have had this effect on me this year and I love when a movie can do that to me. I wouldn’t consider the movie to be perfect but I know that with Jordan Peele’s work, he focuses everything to make what he wants make and it has such a great payoff for me. Also, this movie has one of the most unsettling scenes that I’ve witnessed in a while (the star lasso scene)

Honestly its surprising that people missed the mark on this movie but yet I think its fucking genius that people do not like this movie. Think about all the criticism even Alex makes in this movie, how "it shits the bed" at the end. The movie's central theme is about Spectacle and I think alot of criticism towards this movie is LACK of SPECTACLE. It really heavily criticizes us as an audience and the film industry as a whole how we are all so addicted to SPECTACLE that even great art projects like this can be seen as "disappointment" when we don't get what we want.

How on Earth are you saying this isn't a horror movie?? What about the scene whereby there's an animal attack, and it's from the child's POV and you're waiting anxiously, and he's nearly attacked by it? That scene gave me anxiety. Or the scene whereby the ship eata several children and you see inside its digestive system as they're screaming whilst being eaten and dying? Or the bit whereby stuff got flung about by its telekinetic powers ans went through the old man's eyeball, killing him? Or the bit whereby it rained blood and viscera onto the outsides of the house? Or the bit whereby it destroyed the house and nearly killed the female deuteragonist? Or the bit whereby it ate the biker and the old man? Or the bit whereby you see people getting lifted up into the air and that anxiety inducing music plays?? I don't even get scared by horror movies, disturbed by some like Serbian Film, maybe, but not scared, but this movie was terrifying... Imagine thinking Us is better or even good. It's midly interesting and alright, I guess, but it's incredibly unrealistic to an absurd degree. I don't need realism but when it gets to the point of being unrealistic to the point of breaking all logic itself I start to question why even bother with an explanation trynna justify anything at all instead of going full metaphorical like Mother! I'd give both Get and Out and Nope a 9/10. Get Out is even better than Nope, though... The monkey attack was what led Steven Yuen to discover aliens, the sight of the shoe standing impossibly on its end is what led to his realisation that the monkey went ballistic and bashed the casts' faces open with its bare hand because of the alien presence nearby. That is what led to his carnival show in the middle of nowhere, justifying the presence of parents and their kids so that we get to see them being eaten alive and killed in order to establish the threat that the alien creature poses. They needed to establish that set-up to establish the threat that the alien posed in order to ratchet up the tension, otherwise it wouldn't be as intense and you'd end up being left wondering if it's such a threat in the first place if it didn't kill anything, and that would prevent there from being any tension in the film. So the monkey attack scene was an extremely necessary part of the movie. You might complain and wonder why they didn't use a more conventional method of establishing how characters come to become victims of the alien's horrendous hostile attacks, but then you're asking for movies to be more conventional and therefore blander at that point, and that's just advocating for less interesting movies at that point, which is just plain dumb... Yeah, Jordan Peele has a habit of skipping the denouement of his horror movies and ending abruptly. In Get Out, the camera remains static whilst he drives off into the distance after strangling his girlfriend to death and murdering her in cold blood. No subsequent scene taking place several months into the future to establish where he has wound up being at in life. In Us it just ended with them all holding hands together. No information on where the main characters' lives ended up several months into the future, no information on what the government did whenever they responded to the incident that took place, nothing. And now, in Nope, it doesn't say what happened after she snapped a pic of the alien creature, what the government's reaponse or the public at large said, or what the main characters' lives are like after several months after the end of the movie. You don't learn about what was done about the imminent alien threat at all. Like, okay, bro, how did the alien creature arrive to Earth? It has no brain, it's basically an extraterrestrial animal like a mantaray or something like that, so it can't pilot a spaceship, but how does it travel through space? Anaerobic respiration? Just store enough food in its body to last until it gets to Earth? I guess it's magical because it has telekinetic abilities, fine. Why does snapping the pic guarantee prominent success anyway, no matter whatever happens, the government will cover it up or disbelieve it, and if not the public won't buy it no matter how much they're told it's been proven by experts to not be doctored. Okay, maybe the government actually bothers to get an expert to analyse it and find out it's not doctored rather than dismissing it out of hand, fine. But if the government decides to kill it, how do we, the audience, know that the government will automatically be successful? It's an alien lifeform unfamiliar to the audience capable of telekinetic ability, electromagnetic disruption, and camouflage, we don't know how capable it is, we'd need confirmation the government killed it, we're unable to assume that to be the case for ourselves. But the movie just abruptly ends as soon as she snaps a pic, so we never get any idea about the fate of the human species, the government's or the public's reaction to the pic, or the future fate of the main characters living on that ranch still concurrently being terrorised by an alien entity, whose legacy and livelihood is attached to that ranch. Like, okay, bro... Jordan Peele does not like the denouement in his horror movies at all, does he?...
