Walter Summerford isn't even the man who got struck by lightning the most times. That title goes to Cleveland Sullivan, who got struck 7 times. Poor guy survived all of them, only to end his own life at the age of 70 I think. Also loved the reaction, big Vsauce fan. My favorite videos from his channel are why are things creepy? & mistakes. I highly recommend...

Debunking the Neil Armstrong line: Someone tells you what you will hear when the message is run backwards. That idea ("man will spacewalk"), or that sound, has just been planted in your mind. Naturally, when the message is run backwards, you hear exactly what you were prompted to hear.

I've said this before and I'll say it again... I love this woman and always look forward to her content. Things are getting worse in many ways and Idiocracy lives strong unfortunately. With all the hell happening I've got to say for some reason watching her content calms me and helps me just forget the day and just relax. There really aren't many like her seriously. Anyway I hope you're well and the political evils among us being both sides are basically a brush off your shoulder. You're definitely that type to do you and not let others control your feelings. I absolutely get that from her. Intelligence is a life saver. She's got plenty to lend out and just let us relax once in awhile. I have to cheers because I love this woman 🥂

One weird thing with music that I’ve always encountered is that once I’ve heard a song so many times, after a while, it begins to feel like every new time I hear the song, it feels like the tempo is sped up. It happens with every single song I listen to frequently. Once I get used to the lyrics, the tempo, the instrumentals, and the cadence, all of a sudden the song sounds like someone changed the playback speed. Does that happen to anyone else?

I have this feeling with anything that I do repeatedly. I remember when I was still in high school that when a school year started the day seemed endless but once I got to the second semester the entire week seemed to disappear. This is also seen in life as well, most people would say life feels like it gets faster as you get older. I think it's because you get used to your routine so most days fly past since you don't expect or experience anything new.

I picked out some of the many coincidences from a longer list comparing Dark Side of the Moon-Wizard of Oz: The album cover shows white becoming color. Side One of the album (vinyl) is exactly as long as the black and white portion of the film. The film switches to color for the second side. Songs - ON THE RUN 2. Dorothy starts singing "Over the Rainbow" which has the same initials (OTR) as "On the Run". TIME 1. Miss Gulch arrives on her bike right as the chimes/bells begin. 2. "Waiting for someone or something to show you the way"- Toto escapes basket; Toto jumps through window to show Dorothy the way. 5. The song is about time... The sign on Professor Marvel's trailer says "Past, Present, and Future". GREAT GIG IN THE SKY 1. "I am not frightened of dying, etc..."- Tornado appears; they could possibly die. 2. The song intensifies as the storm picks up. 3. Drums come in the second the wind starts picking up. 6. The song de-intensifies when Dorothy his hit by the window and goes into a dream. MONEY 4. "Don't give me that do goody-good….."- Enter the Good Witch. 5. "I'm in the hi-fidelity, first-class traveling set, and I think I need a Lear jet"- Glinda arrives in her bubble. First-class traveling for witches, perhaps? US AND THEM 2. " 5. "Black, black, black, and blue, blue, blue"- Wicked Witch of the West enters dressed in black; camera cuts over to Dorothy, who is wearing blue. 6. "And who knows which is which and who is who"- The witches confront each other. Notice the pun with "which is which" sounding like "witch is witch". 11. "Down, down, down, and out, out, out"- Glinda exists in her bubble, down and out. 14. Song ends, Dorothy waves good-bye. BRAIN DAMAGE 1. Song is "BRAIN Damage"... Scarecrow sings "If I only had a BRAIN". 2. "The lunatic is on the grass"- Dorothy and Scarecrow on the grass. 3. "Got to keep the loonies on the path"- Dorothy and Scarecrow on the Yellow Brick Road. ECLIPSE 2. The heartbeat at the end of the album coincides with Dorothy listening for Tinman's heartbeat.

Love Vsauce! The word you were looking for is anagram, which is when a word or phrase is formed by rearranging the letters of a different word or phrase, typically using all the original letters exactly once. For example, the word anagram itself can be rearranged into nag a ram, as well as the word binary into brainy and the word adobe into abode. :)

Makes sense that the reverse talking reminds you of the Red Room of Twin Peaks. That's exactly how they made those scenes. They filmed the actors talk, walk and act in reverse, then showed the footage in reverse. Reverse + reverse = forward but weird. By the way, I did finish Twin Peaks and also don't know who killed Laura, or whether reality is even real.

Sometimes when listening to music on shuffle, I like to predict the next song that's coming up. Not consciously but by having that song already play in my head before the song actually starts. Maybe it's because I already heard that transition from one song to the next and have gotten used to it so much that I expected it.

As a teen I went to an arts school to study music. One day when we had nothing better to do, our teacher decided to put on wizard of oz and pink floyd for us to see how well it lined up. And we joked about it being oooh spooky conspiracy oooh illuminati XD I think at the time we were also making an underscore for a play performed by the theater class, so it kinda made sense. Cos usually on a no classwork day he would split us into three groups and have us go make music then we'd all share our pieces at the end.. good times.

From my life, I remember one coincidence from 20 years ago. End of vacation at my cabin, driving down from the mountain and onto the freeway to a 5 hour drive to my home. The car I went onto the freeway in front of I noticed, as it was the same type I was driving, and not that common in Norway. 5 hours later I turned onto my property and the other car was right behind me, honking as I went into my driveway. He had obviously also noticed we had driven half way across the country more or less together and ended up in the same neighbourhood at the same time. We had not seen each other all the way as lane usage and speed varied. We did not know each other, but obviously lived not far apart. It was fun we both noticed the coincidence 😊

The quote from Stephen King about everything in your house being replaced reminds me of Caprgras Syndrome, my most feared delusion It’s a schizophrenic or neurological symptom where your brain fails to recognize the faces of those close to you, even though you can tell they are familiar enough. But something about them doesn’t match the feeling in your memory. And so you become filled with the dread that all of your loved ones are being replaced with copies, or creatures, or replica people The idea of looking at a family member and believing they’re some kind of mannequin person because your memory recall is broken scares the *fuck* out of me. It would be like looking at photos of these creepy dolls, except they’re all people that you actually know

Spotify's random (shuffle) is definitely sus. Frequently I add new songs to a playlist and the next time I shuffle play the playlist, the new songs come on first. This and my liked songs list is huge, spanning so many different genres, but it seems to get genre locked sometimes. And speaking of spooky coincidences, there's a giant advert screen on the side of the road near my house and when I had to cancel my card due to theft it took a while and I had to pause my Spotify membership. I'd never seen a Spotify ad on that screen before, I walk past it almost every day, but during the time where my membership had lapsed, there was one. And I've never seen another since!

Here's my strange coincidence story: I burned an audio CD for my car, and threw in as many of my favorite songs and artists that I had available. As it turned out, there was one song that had been done by two different artists, one by the Beatles and the other by Robert Palmer. When I played the CD it played the songs in the alphabetical order of song titles, so it played the two different versions of the same song, back to back. Even though I liked both versions of the song, over time, I grew a bit tired of hearing essentially the same song twice. Oddly enough, the name of the song was "Not a Second Time".

I learned the concepts of the law of large numbers from studying and playing poker. If not for the law of large numbers, the success of players would be subject to "variance", which are outcomes that diverge from expected probabilities. But, if you have a sample size large enough, and the cumulative odds are in your favor, then you should expect to see a favorable result that is close to the probabilistic outcome

This was a good one! Actually, Six Degrees of Separation is also an example of coincidence, patterns and large numbers (the idea that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other.) For example: Within six contacts/friends of friends, I have connections to both Trump and Putin. They're not really people I'd ideally want to have connections to, and I'm British living in the UK, so the odds seem pretty low, but Six degrees of separation wins once again. How many people in this comments channel know each other via other people? A lot I'm betting 🙂

And sometimes a coincidence is simply not coincidental. Like the "repeating random playlist" can be not random at all for a reason. It may be manipulated for commercial reasons, which I can well imagine on streaming services. But even if only your PC is envolved, it may fail to create real randomness. Randomness is much harder to create than one would expect. The way a computer works is the total opposite of randomness. So to achive randomness it requires rather complicated algorithms which use changing outside data as factors in the calculation, like time, date, and other variables. I remember in the dark ages of PCs, the media player "WinAmp" had this "repeating randomness" problem. If you had a list of mp3s - no matter how many - plyed back with the random function, it would always play them in the same sequence. Even after starting with different tracks each time.

I'll give you a couple more coincidences. Dennis the Menace. A version was created each side of the atlantic by different people on the same day, long before the internet. The same is the only thing that's the same however, but it is an astronomical coincidence. Another one is Q33NY. If you don't already know it paste it into word and change the format in wingdings. It apparently predicted 9/11 and it is claimed that it was a flight number of one of the planes. In reality, somebody was messing around with the font and changed the facts to fit the conclusion and Q33NY never had anything to do with any of the events that day.
