They are all fine musicians that understand real ensemble playing. Here they sound as a high society band, and that is meant as a compliment. And Norbert as band leader let everybody shine. Im glad I came over this band. Almost all the musicians are band leaders in their own right.

I believe this performance is exceptionally well-executed, and I savored every second of it. The song "I Ain't Gonna Give Nobody None of My Jelly Roll" at 1:01:34 resonated deeply with me, and my foot couldn't resist swaying to the rhythm because the jazz swings so irresistibly. Thank you immensely for this invaluable contribution.

Wonderful solo from Shaye begins at 1.19.46......."King of the Road".... Her piano performance here is sublime, sends tingles down my back. Never in my lifetime have ever before heard such an inspired performance of this number. At the point where the electric guitar comes in Shaye quietly echoes the theme and has that front row rocking. What a star to shine so beautifully in this amazing world of ours.

So envious of your talents, I can struggle with music sheets on clarinet etc. but can’t play what I hear in my head, so frustrating, my son can, but those gene bits from my family missed me !! If you like watching beautiful women make beautiful music search for the Shake Em Up Jazz Band. Shaye was a founding member on trombone. Her replacement is gorgeous and one of the great trombone players. Leader is Marla Dixon on trumpet. Chloe Ferragamo mentioned in these comments on clarinet. Molly Reese you hear in this video. A woman called Dizzy on washboard. The string bass player is Julie something I think. I can forget her name but not her playing. All these women are at the top of their game.

@@markhorton3994 hear hear! (I’ll excuse your spelling, it’s Molly Reeves, ‘Dizzy’ Incirlioglu, Chloe Feoranzo, Julie Schexnayder and Haruka Kikuchi) I don’t believe Haruka was a replacement. Shaye stepped in for that one gig. If you watch the ‘on beat’ session at the Layola studio you get the story from Chloe and Marla during the break between numbers. They played Dusty Rag and ‘Puttin’ It On. We were never told the line-up of the band that Shaye put together to play at the Girls Rock band Camp. I don’t think it too much of a stretch to imagine that Shaye’s first port of call would be Marla who had Chloe and recently Haruka in her band at that time. Dizzy, Molly and Julie had all played together in the various bands and were all friends. So, there you have six of the best musicians in NO who just happened to be females, the rest is history.

I'm really enjoying this ensemble. Shaye Cohn is as good on the piano as with the trumpet and violin. I think I once saw her doing well with a trombone. At risk of being thought sexist I mention Molly Reeves, too, It's nice to see her in the ensemble. Not without regard for Shaye whom I see as a young goddess but I think Molly has film star-like looks. I wonder if she's ever thought of acting. I digress from saying this video is really great music and all are greatly talented. Ian Craik

At the risk of being sexist against myself. Search for the Shake Em Up Jazz Band. Shaye was a founding member on trombone but was too busy finding music writing and arranging for Tuba Skinny. They are not the best available women jazz musicians. They are an ensemble of some of the best traditional jazz musicians OF ALL TIME. And they are all women.
