@NordicCrypto had a thought on your concern for lens integrity if dropped. Make a slim cap with a plastic rectangle- attach with thin strips of velcro?

In this you seemed to link your existing metamask wallet to the keystone, whenever I try and follow the steps you showed, it makes me select more than my original metamask address, I have to select another address and then it makes that address linked to my keystone. Do you know where I am going wrong? I want to secure my existing metamask wallet address with it but even contacting their support seems pointless. They just don't understand what I mean.

I have this recently. In fact it isn't all that good. 1. it has no compnion app 2. bettery drains within an hour. 3. pincode and passphrase settings are very unstable 4. device is very unstable. overall score is 1.5 / 10

And also the fact that why does it need a software wallet involved for storing? That’s a huge red flag…

@@Frugivorous Why? Statements like that just seem like you don't know how hardware wallets work. e.g. wallets with "companion apps" are the exact same thing. Hardware wallet holds (stores) the keys, software makes requests to the hardware, you approve the request on the hardware. Unless you think an air gapped hardware device is supposed to magically interact with an Internet-based transaction system for you without any software. I'd be interested to hear more about how that concept works in your mind. Perhaps your assumption that critical data is stored in the software wallet is fundamentally incorrect, hence not knowing how a hardware wallet works.

Yes, it supports a few native tokens that does not require an additional software wallet. These are the current tokens it supports nativly: BTC, ETH, SOL, NEAR, BNB, POLYGON, APTOS, DOT, KSM, XRP, LTC, DASH, BCH, AR, and TRON

Question? This Ledger hack that was done through dapps, since Keystone 3 Pro is connected to METAMASK is this a risk to Keystone pro 3 also?

I believe the hacking code was injected into the Ledger connecting feature to Dapps so it is not correlated to Keystone. However, Keystone, and most other wallets utilize other connecting features that could be open to this risk. So the safest way to store crypto is to put them on a hardware wallet that we don't connect to any online activities at all

This is the wisest option as a hardware wallet doesn't save you from Permit2, SAFA or other signature related wallet drains. Best option is not to use as a web3 wallet at all. Storage only!

When it comes to air gapped to hardware wallets, I don't want to interface with any hot wallets. Back doors, breaches, attacks, inside jobs etc..

The software wallet is just how you view / initiate a transaction with your tokens. Everything important is on the hardware wallet, not the software wallet. And if breaches / attacks are a concern then you should keep your main balance on one seed and then have a second seed for interacting with dapps. Since they keystone allows you to do that. Or just use a bitcoin only wallet and never touch defi.

After I created a wallet on keystone 3 pro, I imported my wallet using my seed phrase to a software wallet and was able to send and receive BTC without ever using Keystone, so what's the point of it?

Because that's fundamentally incorrect? You imported your keys. Your software now owns the wallet, meaning you deprecated the phase involving the Keystone. You must link to a supported wallet using the appropriate offline device linking process for that wallet, forcing the wallet to be an observer or other non-critical software to interface with the keys that the hardware holds. If you outright perform a full private key recovery on software then of course the software now owns that wallet.

The thing that bothers me the most about it as to why you can’t just have all the crypto on the physical wallet. No software wallet should be involved…

Yup, that is the key difference between this wallet and many other wallets. The software wallets makes it an additional risk compared to simply using a hardware wallet with no additional software wallet involved

Keystone makes a TERRIBLE lithium battery. I've had it and the Foundation Passport since 2022 and the Passport is superior.

I don't know what shake pay is. But as long as you send from a btc wallet on the btc network to the btc wallet with the btc network on the keystone wallet it should work.
