NORDISK TELEMARK 2.2 LW Review | Solo Wildcamp in Snowdonia
Having been in the market for a new lightweight 1-2 person tent for a little while I set my sights on the fairly new NORDISK TELEMARK 2.2 Lightweight tent. There seemed to be very few video reviews online, so after using this tent for about 6 weeks I'm pleased to be able to share this no-nonsense review with you as well as the sights and scenery from another beautiful solo wildcamp in the amazing Snowdonia mountain range.

Great review pal - I've owned this for almost a year and just reviewed myself. I've had a few comments re condensation, but I've had no issues with this and like you, believe the 2.2 version with the extra door & vent has alleviated this to a huge degree. Many people don't realise that condensation is almost inevitable in certain conditions. I find this a great, lightweight tent for when the conditions are right and a brilliant piece of engineering by Nordisk - ATB, Chris

Cheers Chris, I've been following your exploits with the 2.2 for a little while now 👍. I've got your latest review on my "Watch Later" playlist, so I'll be checking it out soon. I agree with your point ref 'condensation', whilst there's some things that we can go course do to minimise it, it's inescapable - science! 😂 I'm based in North Wales mate, so if you're ever over this way and fancy a night on the hills then let me know bud.

Watching the door flappage whilst you’re scoffing the chocolate mush, if you watch the Petra Hilleberg Akto setup video, they explain how to role the door to stop that flapping. Worth a go. 💪🏻 Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻

Just wanted to say thank you for such a comprehensive overview! One concern I have with this tent is how close the fabric is to your face when you're sleeping and whether it might touch your face in windy conditions? Do you have any experience of this? I'm on a 4 inch sleeping pad (Sea to Summit Ether Light) and use an inflatable pillow and I've experienced this before in tents which are pitched all in one (i.e. not inner/outer separately) as they tend to be held together more loosely by elasticated cords where the inner can dangle into your face. I've read a lot of reviews complaining about condensation issues in this tent but I have a feeling the 2.2 might reduce this problem with the dual vents for more airflow. Also, pay no attention to the hilleberg fanatics. There is a tonne of snobbery in this industry and as you say, the use case is completely different. Hillebergs are much much heavier and I often think complete overkill in 95% of UK conditions.

+oling2812 Hi oling2812 and many thanks for taking the time to drop by my channel, watch and comment, it's really appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the positive feedback, cheers! My face or feet were not in contact with the inner. I'm 6' 2" and use a Thermarest NeoAir if that helps at all. Whilst there was a light to moderate breeze throughout the evening / night there certainly wasn't enough to 'bounce' the inner around, so that may also be worth factoring in. I do believe that the inclusion of a second door and associated ventilation is a direct response by Nordisk to try and overcome the condensation/ventilation issues that affected previous versions of this tent. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already, I'd really appreciate it, cheers! 👍

@TheBushcraftPadawan
@TheBushcraftPadawan 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Limke, thanks for watching and commenting it's really appreciated. The tent would definitely fit 2 people (snugly) however the 2nd rucksack would need some thinking about as it only has one porch. I usually use a small 30l pack in the summer (when I'm normally using this tent) which packs away to almost nothing so the 2nd pack doesn't really cause an issue. Hi mate. I’m here for the precise reason you set out to address. I love my Soulo but sick of lumping it up 4-5 Wainwright’s on a single trek in conditions that doesn’t necessitate its use. So I’m looking for a light summer tent. Got my eye on this and the Alpkit Soloist. Neither perfect, but you don’t need perfection in good conditions do you? I’ve always liked the look of the 2.2 but just the odd story I hear about condensation and dodgy performance in high wind has stopped me adding to cart and pulling the trigger. On peaks the wind can kick up when not forecast. Have you has any further camps in high wind since this video? Thanks very much for such an informative video 👍

@TheBushcraftPadawan 2 жыл бұрын
+Simon Keller Hi Simon and firstly many thanks for dropping by, watching and commenting, it's really appreciated 👍. I've also seen/heard/read some of the stories about the condensation/high wind performance but at present I haven't seen any evidence of the condensation issue (I always sleep in a very well ventilated tent though) and I've been really fortunate with the weather this Summer and haven't really experienced any significant winds to speak of so don't have any data to share with you about it's performance in windy conditions. Keep an eye on the channel though as I've got some high level trips planned in the coming weeks, so that may provide some testing conditions.

Great channel. I've been looking for a tent which is light enough for long distance multi day hikes (and has some liveability space) but robust enough to withstand the UK's 4 seasons. I nearly went for the Nordisk 2.2. It is light and seems strong but I wonder how it would fare in really bad weather on the tops and it also seems a little cramped. Instead I've gone for for the Scarpa 1 by Tarptent. It is 4 season, spacious and is only 1.3 kg. Admittedly, the extra cross poles for 4 season weather are an extra 350g. With shipping and duties, it came to £520...a tad cheaper than the Nordisk?? But 1.7kg for long distance hiking? I might live to regret that :) Have you looked into the scarp 1? Rgds Imran

About packing the whole tent away in the pocket - gather the four corners with the end poles inside to one side and then stuff the tent into the pocket leaving the four corners til last so you can carefully place them last into the pocket. I then pull the tension straps tight and put the main pole folded up through the tension straps but outside the pocket. This method means stuffing the tent into the pocket is quick and easy but avoids any of the poles damaging the tent fabric.
@TheBushcraftPadawan
@TheBushcraftPadawan Жыл бұрын
I figured out a similar way but I just roll the tent in a traditional fashion with the foot end guyines left draping out and then slot it into the slightly larger stuff that came with it. I find it a little easier to do with wet and cold fingers.

Hi! First thing, I have subscribed. I bought this tent earlier in the year and have taken it out on Dartmoor twice since. My report: it is very noisy, even in a light breeze - although I also had some strong wind coming through too. I had to tension it until I thought the seams would bust to reduce the flapping. The expanding vestibule (or reducing sleeping bay) is a fun thing but when your kit is lying on the soaked grass its not great fun. Second time out I had organised a footprint from nordisk. I had some heavy rain and had hoped to see the outer completely free of water in the morning as I have become accustomed over years with my Rab hooped bivvy. No, the Telemark 2.2 LW does not repel the water. So, I'm taking a micro fibre cloth next time. I don't like stuffing away a wet tent and separating the inner and outer to keep the sleeping bay dry looks like it would be a massive faff, especially because I like to pitch at last light and be gone soon after dawn. I.e. not much light and lots of clipping in amongst wet flappy material.
@moniquesmol5702
@moniquesmol5702 2 жыл бұрын
When I bought this tent last year I was doubting to buy or not to buy the footprint but I am so glad I did! It fits exactly under the tent and the most important thing, everything in the vestibule stays dry! A little bit extra weight but it’s a very very light tent so it’s worth the extra grams. Greetings from a Dutch girl who likes to pitch her tent everywhere 😊
