This video will show you how I replaced a solder mounted rechargeable battery on a Norelco 5885 XL electric razor.

Those two unconnected wires are connected from a switch in the head to the main circuit board. There are two friction connectors (the wire just slides into the connector). This is used for detecting that the head has been removed (presumably for cleaning). The razor has a feature that reminds you to clean the head after some number of shaves. Removing the head resets this count. Also, thanks for your video. It was useful in determining the difficulty of replacing the batteries.

Invest in a solder sucker or solder wick to make quick work of removing old solder.

i had this same shaver back in '92, battery in shaver only lasted 1 year. it would tell me i needed cleaning after i cleaned it..and showed inly 10 minutes of charge when i charged it over 8 hours. worst money i ever spent.

Can you make the shaver run on AC only No battery?

im pretty sure you cant, at least i couldnt in my HQ5848 that is close to this one but with led strip for charge level and a 2 position switch for on and off ( the top board is the same tho)

Hi..i changed the battery in my shaver too..and once i put the new battery inside..the shaver turned on and wouldnt shut off...so i had to disconnect the new battery. What do you think this might be ?

Can you share a photo of what your wiring looks like? I’m thinking this happened to me too, but I don’t recall what the issue was.

I imagine it wouldn't be 'sealed' afterwords.
