Thanks for the video. An even EASIER way, and recommended in the instructions of the batteries I purchased, is to just cut the old batteries out without raising the board, leaving tabs long enough sticking through the plastic to solder on the new batteries. The new battery tabs, cut short, overlap the old tabs, and you just solder the tabs together. This was recommended to avoid putting too much heat on the board (trying to solder out the holes). I was able to replace my batteries in under a minute with this method.

This was an excellent video for Norelco Battery Replacement. Very clear detailed instructions and very good angles and focus in the video.

Great video! Now in 2024, those batteries get replaced by Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) which is a drop in replacement for NiCd, but they don't have the memory effect of the NiCds.

Very good instructional video. Installed new battery pack. Trickiest part was clearing solder out of slots to insert tabs of new battery. ( I used solder wick.) Put back together. Seems to work fine. Thanks for posting.

I'm beginning to think the company deliberately designs these batteries to be a pain-in-the- ass for most people to take the time to replace, instead pushing them to just go out and buy another shaver. Sort of a planned obsolescence. After all, most electronics these days are designed to be throw-away. I have a pile of dead VHS and DVD players that attest to this-it's just not cost-effective to have them repaired. So, not only do you need to get special batteries that have to be soldered in place, you need a special tool to open the damned thing. But good presentation on the video! I'll give it a try (after looking at the thing frustrated for over two years).

Thanks for the video. I was a bit timid about opening up my razor, but this looks very straightforward and I think I will order the replacement kit. Just a comment, most people who are watching this and having trouble because they're new to soldering will get stuck on the desoldering part. I'd recommend buying a couple cheap items before starting, which are "helping hands" and desoldering braid (the pumps are nice but braid is good at getting the holes really cleaned out...just press it into the hole with the iron). Also, I prefer using a thin gauge rosin-core 63/37 solder.

This is a very helpful video. THESE MAY BE LITHIUM ION BATTERIES! BE VERY CAREFUL TO NOT SHORT THE BATTERY + & - LEADS AS IT COULD LEAD TO A VERY HOT FIRE! I suggest that you place electrical tape on the individual leads as you move the battery pack around. You may need a pair of "nippers" or "side cutters" to trim the battery pack leads to fit within the circuit board slots. Again...BE CAREFUL not too short the leads! A set of miniature TORX drivers will also help. Be sure to align the on/off switch as you slide the circuit board in place and secure it. Test it before you close up the shaver. Then, charge the batteries and keep an eye on the razor to make sure that they charge and don't catch fire. Again lithium ion batteries are not friendly if they catch fire! I am a HAM radio operator so I'm used to working with soldering irons, etc.

Suggestion for those without soldering equipment: Silver epoxy works equally well for connecting the cut tabs of new battery and old battery, without touching the circuit board at all.

Can you make the shaver run on AC only No battery?

I replaced mine just like this, same shaver; somehow something went wrong, and now the razor runs when it's plugged in, but it won't run when unplugged and the charging lights don't light up at all. Did I blow something? Don't try this without a solder vacuum, I had trouble getting the old solder out.

It looks like you can just use the tabs from the old battery to make connection with the tabs of the new battery. Maybe without even soldering whatsoever.

Why didn't they just put a plastic holder connected to mother board and stick In a new battery with no soldering just like flashlight what a waist but Norelco knows most people throw them away every few years or more .........

I like the video here,but nobody ever gives the specs on the replacement batteries they use in their repair jobs..always only say "buy a spot-weld replacement pack".

Don't try replacing the battery unless you have moderate to advanced skill with a soldering iron.

Well, I am really sorry I watched your video. I wasted $8 on battery pack & screwdriver. I had zero luck removing the solder. My gun is NOT magic, so it would NOT remove the tabs. My vacuum pump would NOT remove the solder. So, after 45 minutes or wresting with it, I broke a gold tab. Should have thrown the shaver in the trash & moved on & not had a very frustrating afternoon..
