I made a mistake in the video, At 10:36 I mentioned that I turned the L screw, But unfortunately I proceeded to turn the H screw instead. I should have turned the screw on top of the Carb, which is where the L screw is. It still made a slight improvement, but I wanted to mention that I had made a mistake.

I purchased a similar machine last summer for a few dollars and it was the best decision I made, it has been running like a charm. Prior to that I had purchased a new one for a lot more money and kept returning it to the store since it didn't run well, until I returned permanently and bought the used echo. The used echo parts feel much stronger and better built. Thank you for showing us how to do the compression test, and the rest of repairs.

I enjoy all your videos from all the different small engines you fix and bring back to life. I also agree that echo makes a great product. I am currently having a problem with my Echo SRM 210 straight shaft trimmer. About a week ago I noticed it was not running correctly and noticed the fuel lines and grommet were deteriorated. since I have had this trimmer for many years i figured it was time for some maintenance. So a went down to my local shop and bought new fuel lines and a Zama carb rebuilt kit. After changing all and restarting the Echo trimmer it started up fine. I was actually very lucky that it did not have to adjust any of the high or low screws since it revved and idled fine. But when it is warmed up and I shut it off and try to restart it, but it will not start. I tried chocking and un-chocking the trimmer and nothing. I took out the spark plug and it was a little wet from fuel. I tested for spark and it had spark. The only way I can restart this warm/hot engine is if replace the spark plug with a spare I have that is perfectly dry. It seems that after it warms up and it will not start if the plug is wet. Not sure what is causing the plug to get wet after shut down the trimmer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

luckily you've given us a lot of information to work with. I'm guessing the engine is flooding, on hot start up. Are you giving any throttle, when doing a hot start? If so, I would try, without the throttle
@LarryHelvick
@LarryHelvick Жыл бұрын
@@HomeGaragechannel Thanks for your quick response. I have tried it with no throttle and wide open throttle with the same outcome, no start. It appears the engine seems to be flooding when I shut it down . I am thinking it could be something with the carb flooding the engine when I shut it off. Again I appreciate any suggestions. Larry

Absolutely fixing the older one. I did that for a family member that got frustrated and threw his (out of frustration) because it wouldn't start. The carburetor itself was broken in a couple of places. The main problem was the hard molded plastic piece that the throttle cable went into was busted, I probably could have jerry-rigged it but instead I got a $20 Chinese knockoff carburetor and just replace the whole thing. The package came with extra fuel Purge bulbs which it also needed, along with new fuel lines and a filter within 20 minutes or so his old beat-up echo was running like a scalded dog again 👍

I would have pressure/vacuum tested the engine before messing with the carb. If your crankcase does have a leak, you only temporarily bandaged it. I do like seeing people fixing anything old instead of throwing it away. Kudos for giving this line trimmer a renewed life.

Out of all the gas weed trimmer I have, Echo are still my favorite. Echo SRM210 (same as above just stright shaft) is my go trimmer, get more usage than Echo 225. Echo trimmer seem to have the right balance of power, comfort, and weight compared to other trimmer including Husky/Stihl/Hitachi trimmer. Carb+fuel line delivery seems the be the most common issue with Echo trimmer typical of 2 stroke issue, rarely see Echo trimmer with blown engine.

Definitely worth fixing. There's a reason you don't see these on the curb as often as newer, cheaper models. Tool like this will last forever if you take care of it. Also, maybe these older Echos just run a little different than I expected, but it sounds like it needs a little bit more carb adjustment. Seemed to be bogging when trying to rev it under load. Might wanna play around with that LSN a bit more.

what does the h screw do
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 7 ай бұрын
it's for adjusting the fuel delivery "while" holding down the trigger. meaning it's for fuel adjustment at High engine speeds.

Mine starts but the throttle doesn’t work. Any ideas ?
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 2 жыл бұрын
does the throttle move and then return back to its normal position or is the throttle stuck? if it's stuck, then it's either a cable problem or the throttle plate on the carb, is stuck closed.

I recently bought a Mac mini, about a year ago, and I was going to use Final cut, but I realized the iMovie, had all the features I needed.

The engine will behave differently if it has no load on it as you can see here, as soon as the trimmer head got working again it sounded like it was slightly bogging. Although I am sure that you know this.

I'd go with the cheaper older model if the compression was good to very good. Otherwise, I'd go with a new Echo with a 5 year warranty.
