Sam: Norm, how's life treating you? Norm: Like a baby treats a diaper. Sam: Norm, what are you up to? Norm: My ideal weight, if I were 11 feet tall. Sam: What's shakin', Norm? Norm: Both chins and a couple of cheeks. Woody: Beer, Mr Peterson? Norm: It's a little early isn't it, Woody? Woody: For a beer? Norm: No, for stupid questions.

Such a great show, one of the biggest shows of the 1980s! Very well written, very clever. It spawned to legendary shows; Wings and Fraiser.

This was funny, but seeing the series in full is funnier. Should mention I have the whole series on DVD. No cuts, just the full episodes. Watch every two years

Cheers has a super comforting vibe to it…reminds me of childhood. Every time the end theme came on I knew it was time to go to bed. It was on Thursdays if I remember correctly though, at least in the US

I live in a small community in Canada! Fifteen years ago, my community hosted an Octoberfest! On the first night, the turnout was not the greatest! To my astonishment, Norm from Cheers was the grand marshal of the event! How did they get him to come? I stood right next to him and did not know what to say to him, other than the obvious-Norm! It was the most sereal moment of my life!

I had a customer where I worked named Norm. Every time he walked in my co worker would yell "Norm!" Just like Cheers. Rest in peace Karen and Norm.

Cheers ran for 11 seasons beginning in 1982. The scene you were showing at about 4:03 as they begin to sit down at a poker game is a GREAT scene, involving Harry Andersen (Night Court) as "Harry the Hat", a two-bit hustler that appeared occasionally throughout the series, and Ernie "Coach" Pantuso! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ad5lns1_1JvOc3U.html

I grew up watching Cheers, and to this day I can’t think of a sitcom I liked better. One of my favorite episodes was when Cliff went on Jeopardy. Another favorite episode was when the French guy kept trying to steal Woody’s girlfriend. Those episodes with Henri framed how pictured French people to be for many years! I know Brits have a bit more of a refined sense of humor, but it’s good to see Norm was able to give y’all a few good laughs.

A favorite bit of mine re: Norm... Woody and Norm have dinner at the "Hungry Heifer" (upstairs restaurant) Corinne" "What can I get you, Norm?" Norm: The Feeding Frenzy special for two." (The Feeding Frenzy is an all-you-can-eat special) Corinne: "How about you, honey?" Woody: "Well, I think he was ordering for both of us." Norm: "No"

Goodness, that makes me feel old. We'd gather with old housemates in one home to watch. A favourite episodes was when the extremely stern Lilith sang beautifully to their baby. Frasier asked why she never sang like that to him ... I won't spoil the moment. I had a business trip to the USA in 1990/1. My business host asked if I'd like to grab a beer at my hotel. The bar had TV's. "The Simpsons" was on. I'd never seen anything like it; a cartoon animation for adults! I saw the "let me help you dry those tears" hairdryer gag (Series 1). I was smitten. When he arrived, he told me it was "The Simpsons". When I returned, I told friends who had cable. Like "Cheers", we'd gather to watch "The Simpsons". It's the funniest American sitcom until "Family Guy". Before "The Simpsons", "Cheers" was my favourite US sitcom. Before that, "The Adams Family", "Get Smart", and, of course, "The Flintstones. I vaguely remember "Car 54, Where Are You?". Best Wishes, All. ☮

@@tinagriggs1004 Thank you for replying. We got a lot of US sitcoms on terrestrial TV. Another I remember from childhood was "The Munsters". I wasn't a fan. Others include "Roseanne", "Frasier", "South Park", "Friends", "The Big Bang Theory", "The Larry Sanders Show", "Police Squad", "Sledge Hammer", "Tool Time", "Cybil", "Dharma and Greg", "Spin City", "Suddenly Susan"... A bit more thinking and I remembered "Northern Exposure" and "Mad About You". There are probably more I've forgotten (oops yes "All in the Family" was on a few times). Plus many Hanna Barbera cartoon animation sitcoms like "The Flintstones", and more modern cartoon animations like "King of the Hill". I visited every year throughout the 90s. I liked the USA so much I lived and worked there during part of the 2000s. I've been to about 17 states (I mean slept at least one night in a hotel, motel or B&B, not just changed planes or drove through), I've been to your neighbouring Tennessee, Ohio and Illinois, but I apologise, I've never been to Kentucky. Best Wishes from the UK. ☮

@@JustMe-dc6ks Thank you for replying, and for jogging my old memory. I did watch M*A*S*H, but didn't remember 😨 I was trying to figure out what I watched during the 70s, but failed and posted my reply. It was M*A*S*H. IIRC, it was on Sunday night, on BBC2. I had a struggle persuading my Mum to let me stay up late enough to watch it because I had to go to school next morning, My Mum didn't like it at first. She didn't like wars. However, eventually she'd remind me to get a bath before M*A*S*H, and she'd actively watch too. I loved M*A*S*H, so it's a bit miserable forgetting it 😞 I don't think it's in my mental "American sitcom" box. Maybe because it feels more significant? I liked it so much I bought the books ("M*A*S*H" and "M*A*S*H goes to Maine"). Those lead me to read "Catch 22". I became quite cynical while still a callow youth. I wonder why 🤔. I might remember some more after a nights sleep - my unconscious mind is smarter than the bit in charge of typing 😀. Thank you again for reminding me. Best Wishes, ☮

Woody Harrelson's character does not appear on the show until after the third season in 1985 when actor Nicholas Colasanto (Ernie 'Coach' Pantusso) died suddenly. Woody Harrelson joined the cast in 1985 as a former baseball teammate of Sam Malone.

I caught odd episodes in and out of Cheers, but it didn't really grab me enough to watch more of them. As a character driven long running sitcom, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had watched it consistently. Frazier, on the other hand, I LOVED. Neurotic Niles cracked me up, as did Frazier's dad, closely followed by Daphne. Oddly enough, Frazier himself didn't make me laugh as much. Definitely a case of the supporting characters outshining the lead for me personally.
