The more I learn about cancer the more I believe Norm made the best choice. People begin to treat you differently when they know you’re sick or they don’t want to be near you at all because you remind them of their own mortality.

I respect someone who is always looking for the joke and it really makes me like Norm so much more knowing while likely receiving the worst news of his life he still looked for humor

I've said it a hundreds times over... Always a fan from day one. But these years when Norm.was sick ... I was in a bad place in life and his humor helped me get through it. And to find out He was Ill the whole time. It's a bittersweet wonderful life. Norm was a comedic genius! Thank God we got these moments documented.

Even if he didn't correct himself, everyone would think it's a joke, just Norm being Norm

When I was getting my wisdom teeth taken out I asked the nurse "when this is all over will I be able to play the violin?" And she said yes. I said "oh cool, I've always wanted to know how to play the violin." LOL she busted up laughing 😂

He really wanted nobody to know about this condition… but he thought this story was so funny that he couldn’t help but to tell it. He really was an entertainer first and foremost 🙂

The fact that he would fumble jokes regularly made this seem like a natural Norm Macdonald slip-up this guy is a genius for covering all his bases I miss this guy so g-dang much

I went into about a solid month long rabbit hole of old norm stuff after he died. Great comedian. The world changed a little bit for the worse after he left. Comedians literally getting attacked now for what they say. Crazy times

He cared more about delivering that joke in the moment than he did of the cancer. Norm is an absolute LEGEND. A true artist. One of the Greats. His moth joke on Conan is pure gold.

He slipped up and brushed right over it and kept going. Such a good story teller he knew the focus would be more on the finish of his story

It wasn't the loss of Norm that got me. I felt happy knowing that he went on mostly his terms and he kept things funny until his last breath. It was seeing everyone -including the greatest comedic geniuses of our time come to tears while remembering him and coming to acceptance. Norm was one of the greatest comedians in all of human history.

He didnt have colon cancer though, as far as I know, but maybe it was a slip, I can't tell. He had dropped hints though, in the interview with Larry King as well.

When my doctor was giving me the old finger-up-the-ass prostate exam, he told me 'don't worry Mr Shackleford it's perfectly normal to get an erection during this procedure.' I said 'thanks doc, but I don't have an erection!' He replied 'I was referring to myself.'

During Norm's last interview, he signed off saying someting like ' I've had a good life....I've been lucky.' The man loved life, he used his God given humor to enlighten peoples lives, and was (& still is) loved by millions. In that aspect, we should all be so lucjy. God bless ya, Norm.

He always made jokes near the end about if he had cancer he wouldn’t tell anyone because what’s the point? People don’t treat you the same and everything is different. He didn’t want that. “I didn’t even know he was sick” was my favorite of his jokes near the end because he knew that’s what everyone would say about him and they did.

Before my colonoscopy, I was signing paperwork at the front desk. Before walking away, I said, "I hope the cameras aren't too big." They laughed as if they'd never heard that one before. I figured they had, since it's a type of dad joke.

Faced with mortality, challenge people to laugh... On stage to SNL ESPYs to White House correspondent dinner, spoke truth to people using laughter. If he wasn't free to, he'd move on to the next place like a respectable man. Got to his own studio and I've never laughed harder. A true teacher and champion of humanity. I feel blessed that even though he's not on Earth he is still making me laugh and learn. Lessons I've learned from life that hold up under scrutiny come from comedians. Norm Macdonald was the most valuable teacher I've ever had. Inside most of his lessons I've derived another pearl of wisdom. Drugs screw up communication. Finaly. I don't remember where he said it, and he was being direct without humor. People don't like intellectuals, if you want to be heard play the rube.
