The shark seems to me a metaphor for depression. It follows him throughout his day and gets the best of him at his job. He goes home and it eats him whole. Wow much feels very relate

We calmly weigh our thoughts before we know them Careful not to break our only scale But there’s no lament in taking chances Fall a little while before we soar Sword in mouth and helpless in the bond we have between us Fire eyes and desperate for the helplessness we love Turn to walk the path in my reflection But not before the sheep becomes the wolf Loveless without shame. I was only waiting for the calm before the storm. The tongue was being sharpened by the lie. Sword in mouth and helpless in the bond we have between us Fire eyes and desperate for the helplessness we love Tell us all the things we need to know now You’ll find us in the silence of our own guilt Shout it from the hell below Shake us but be gentle so Take our hand walk us through Take my hand walk me through the land I stole Help us to lay down

I understood it as what depression does to a person. It deprives of the life you established, follows you everywhere (like a shark, or a black dog), and finally devours you.

Song title comes from the Bible, Revelation chapter 19 verse 12 reads: "His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself." and verse 15 reads: "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."

I could care less about their music changing, I'm just glad these guys represent something positive. Some people love a band for the music, but others like the ideals and purpose behind what a band stands for. Would you criticize a pastor for what he wears, or how he speaks...or would you criticize him for his message and what he stands for?
@davidturner35239 жыл бұрын
Amen!!!! well said
@laytons64449 жыл бұрын
The words in a song are damn near irrelevant to anyone besides the writer. The voice is just another instrument to be used as a tool to take nothing more than an idea or collection of ideas and make a piece of art(just like all forms of art). The words can carry a message, but who honestly cares? And I would always judge a pastor in every respect, especially since they think they hold some kind of moral imperative that they pull their thoughts out of a book written by sheep herders.
@36jreal8 жыл бұрын
+Legend Mull agree 100% im all about the words and the emotion behind them.anyone can write lyrics but getting that emotion behind them is what its all about make you feel the words not just hear them
