Most enjoyable video and Norman is more gracious than some humans. In all seriousness, I wonder if service dogs can learn these same abilities and possibly more, to assist people with disabilities. For example, retrofit doors that may be difficult for someone to open by themselves, but easier for a service animal, etc. Something to think about.

My favorite breed. I have had 4 dogs, and one was a black briard that weighed 120lbs! Nicest and smartest dog ever. Naturally protective so they need to be well socialized. I would get another one if I was a little younger (even though I do love my current dog, a quarter his weight!)

i love norman the scooter dog, but can you tell me where is the fishspa for the food. Also, who is smokey?

We have been lucky and gifted with briards for 30 plus years as part of briard rescue and rehome in Australia. They are truly a wonderful dog that bring such fun, unique personalities into the home. They are not the dog for everyone, enjoy being with their family. Not a dog left to their own devices without interaction doesn't get a chance to develop that extra special bond that the briards are capable of. A previous briard called Bailey would disappear each morning after toileting outside, wouldn't come inside straight inside with the others. We had thick bushes all around our property ,great for privacy but the previous owners had left so much rubbish that it was taking quite some time & money to have it removed. Along one of the fence lines, was an old antique style ladder leaning up against the fence. you couldn't see it there unless you parted the bushes. Once again Bailey wasn't inside with the others, so I went looking for him. I am outside he was nowhere in sight. But I could hear this music. I realised it was my neighbour, and she would come out on to her rear deck play the music quite load and do this type of hula hooping exercise. Never bothered me. I thought it was funky. As I scanned the garden. I saw a tail peaking out of the greenery, in the air, and as I got closer & parted the shrubbery Bailey had climbed the ladder against the fence, was leaning the top portion of his body on the fence,& his head resting comfortably on top of that. He was watching my neighbours exercise with a wrapt expression. Now I know where he was going. After that I would quietly watch to see if he would return there, & he continued to go out each morning and then come back inside when finished. Norman is especially talented but what is most evident he enjoys what he is doing and that is what is most important. He would never do all the things he does, if he wasn't having a ball. Briards have an independent nature, and will only do what they enjoy, and what they want, knowing briards the way I do, it is impressive and to both Norman, and his Handler, at everything they have achieved.
