This video was taken in 1996 when Eddie Van Halen went to visit Jason Becker and his family at his house. After Eddie had passed away, Stephen put together a video but didn't include all the footage that he had taken that day. What you are seeing is the NEVER BEFORE SEEN clips that was not included. Eddie coming to spend the day with Jason and his family meant the world to him! Enjoy this video, and please check out the links to the AUCTION and DONATIONS! Thank you!

When it comes to guitar legends, no one would question the extraordinary talents of the late #EddieVanHalen. Fewer, however, will know of #JasonBecker, the sixteen year old phenom who exploded on the Rock scene in the mid 1980’s only to contract ALS by the age of twenty. Although Jason continues composing music (by using his eyes in a system developed by his father), his days as a lead guitarist were short. But two albums (produced with his friend Marty Friedman) and stints with David Lee Roth cemented Jason’s place forever in the world of Rock greats.
Several years ago, this auction sold the three instruments Jason himself played. The proceeds from that sale have gone a long way in easing the life of a man, now in his fifties, forever burdened by his crippling disease. But demands are such that we are now offering Jason’s most treasured instrument - Eddie Van Halen’s personal Peavey #EVH #Wolfgang guitar.
While Eddie was known to have greatly admired the work of Jason for years, on August 31, 1996 the two men met for the first time when Van Halen visited Becker’s Southern California home. In a video (linked below) recorded by Jason’s parents, Eddie Van Halen played a section of Eruption (as well as other tunes) on the guitar before handing it over to the wheelchair-bound artist. He then inscribed the instrument: “Jason. We will play guitar together in the future. Love - from heart to your soul. Eddie Van Halen, ’96.” The two men remained close friends through the end of Eddie’s life.
Production of the Peavey EVH Wolfgang signature guitar (named after Eddie’s son) had just begun at the time of the gift. Jason’s instrument, designated #69, had been culled from the first 100 examples of the model that were made after Eddie tested each one and selected a handful that he deemed best for his personal use. Once selected, the guitar was re-inspected and set up by Jim DeCola, Peavey Guitar Design Engineer / EVH Wolfgang Designer. Jason Becker’s thumbprint now appears on the back of the neck, reflecting its ownership by two true guitar icons.
The instrument comes with an original Certificate of Authenticity and, should the buyer wish, an opportunity to meet with Jason Becker.

From the interviews and books I've read, he's a great guy with a big heart. Alcohol can take the nicest person on Earth and turn them into a monster. As soon as Eddie went sober, his true good-hearted self came out. We were always seeing him in the news for his charitable contributions and for making up with old friends. That's the Eddie I wish to remember.

I'm a "poor" widowed disabled single dad who's been on dialysis for almost 20 years now. If I had deep enough pockets I'd make sure I won the bid for this epic piece and give it right back to Jason to do with as he wishes. Keep it, auction it again or whatever. I bought and watched Not Dead Yet on Saturday 12/9/21 and the heavy rock music world was robbed when Jason was as well. He was such an amazing musician and what he's done in his life as a composer is nothing short of amazing as well! God bless & Godspeed to Jason Becker! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼

Eddie had this charm and the smile and the style that made you want to know as much as you can about him. Even more than his guitar playing but as a person.I remember when all we had was the guitar magazines and mtv videos to see him. I remember when he did that interview and video with Valerie on network tv. I waited all week in anticipation for the show. He's always been my favorite player and hero. I know he had his flaws but his good side will never be forgotten !

I am so sorry to hear about your mom i had a serious situation when my mom came down suddenly with dementia and i moved my mom up to the small mountain town i was living and running my small business in . It was the best 4 and a half years i spent with my mom in many ways until the disease progresses to the point they cant take care of even the basic functions of living and i had to be the parent in several ways . My mom was diabetic and i could see the correlation between blood sugar levels and certain behavior. Anyway i hope you can make this diagnosis positive somehow like i was lucky enough to have gotten with my mom. I know ALS is severe at any stage but stage 6 sounds bad best of luck hope you can be with your mom somehow as much as possible .

The thing is that Jason Becker was capable of doing amazing things in a short period of time. It was enough to show he was a virtuoso guitar player with an incredible talent to play anything. He also has proved that it's not only about his playing, but the music that he has inside. It's too bad he got that desease, but in only a few years he become a guitar legend for the years to come... not many people can do that...

Wild to see Eddie nervous and not sure what to play. It's an awkward setting though when you're sitting in a room with people watching you as opposed to being on stage. There's no other guitar player that I have looked up to so much as this man. To imagine that Rolling Stone put him at number 8 for it's 100 greatest guitarists of all time. No other player has been so influential. RIP to the King.

I love both Jason and Eddie. Very awesome guys and video. However, this is definitely not unseen footage. I saw this years ago actually. It's all over KZfaq. I hope Jason's medical needs can be met!!
