It’s certainly a gun nobody would know you had on you. Personally I don’t carry where the law could actually stick it to me because I know where I’m going if I die, and it’s not worth the felony to me, BUT I am always happy there are people armed even in those zones, more power to you! @@TheMagnumChannel luckily, in Texas, the only felony gun free zones are bars and federal property. Other places are low level misdemeanors. Hospitals and schools are class A misdemeanors, but everywhere else is just a class c, so its basically like a parking ticket...if you get caught. "Concealed means concealed".

@@TheMagnumChannel Same in Florida, if otherwise licensed to carry. However, unlicensed carry anywhere in Florida is in itself a felony, unlike many other states that prohibit unlicensed carry.

We could split hairs on this but you are correct in that you won’t get expansion, probably from any 22lr small enough to carry unless you hit bone. That being said with a gun like this I personally would be going for the head and or neck, or hoping that the sound and or feel of being shot at would end an attack. Another inch of barrel isn’t going to make a lot of difference in the same caliber, just my two cents. Thanks for watching!

The ballistics I mentioned are for .22WSM, not LR. Anything less than MAG cartridges in these revolvers are more or less useless other than maybe as a noise deterrent. That being said, YES an extra inch of barrel makes a significant difference in terminal ballistics running 22MAG. 36gr is also optimal to balance penetration and velocity. In addition to this there are .22WSM cartridges on the market that are designed for shorter barrels. Moreover you want a non-ported barrel to maximize energy. The key to using these pieces in a self defense situation is copious draw and fire drills. Under the stress of an attack you are only realistically going to get one round off to the A-Zone. Drawing, cocking, aiming and firing must be done in one smooth rapid movement. A successful shot is about the only thing that will permit the availability of follow-ons. If you carry one of these you must dry fire often and numerous times to perfect that initial shot under stress.

@@TheMagnumChannel If you accidently get your finger tips in front of the gun while shooting in self defense you could injure yourself. A longer barrel could help to prevent this kind of injury IMHO.

Not safer, but longer barrels achieve significantly better penetration and expansion.

Not this model but NAA makes convertibles with two cylinders one for 22wmr and one for 22lr

You're not supposed to. You can buy them with an extra cylinder chambered in 22lr with the timing already done so then you can just swap cylinders. If you get one with the extra cylinder already provided the cost goes up about $50ish. You can also send yours back to NAA to get an extra cylinder timed for it and then sent back to you if it didn't come with one. I've noticed the ported version never seems to be offered with an extra cylinder.
