@@corin164 Same here. I currently live in Texas (I'm a native Texan), but my wife and I are thinking about moving to NC - Dallas is getting too hectic. We've never had a bad experience when we've visited NC, the scenery is gorgeous, the people are friendly, and it's not too hot or too cold there - we have no desire to dig our cars out during the winter! 😏 Worst place I've ever lived was Boston MA - total cesspool and the people are absolutely awful!

@@colinaudette291 guess I can't leave links in the replies. Just Google British territory Ocracoke and you'll see. Long story short, U boats were attacking ships offshore, Churchill sent merchant marine ships with hybrid civilian/military personnel to hunt U boats. A U boat sunk one British ship and 4 bodies washed ashore. They did not have the means to preserve the bodies to send back, so the bodies were buried and the grave was leased to Britain in perpetuity. Every year, there is a ceremony there.

Having lived in NC for most of my life I would say I'm biased, but it is a fantastic state that has it all. I'm so glad you devoted an entire video to it -- the state really deserves it. In the past year alone I've met a number of people who said they moved here not for work or because they had any connections, but simply because it seems like a great place to live. None of them said they regretted the move.

NC is my home, so I’m a bit biased in saying this, but I think we’re really underrated. I think our geographic diversity, good economy, and our surprising mix of political / cultural groups gives us a lot of potential for growth. If we can just work on things like infrastructure and entertainment we could be as big of a player as someone like Georgia. Raleigh, Asheville, Wilmington, the Outer Banks, the entire mountainous western part of the state, all big highlights. I was ecstatic to see this in my feed. Thanks Kyle :)

You know, my dad grew up in Gastonia. He did not like Gastonia in particular and North Carolina in general, so I did not get to experience the place while growing up. After having visited a couple of times, I'm going to have to say my dad allowed his own experiences to bias his view of North Carolina. Gastonia is pretty rough around the edges and lacks much in the way of attractions as it doesn't appear to have ever recovered after most of the textile industry left. I can say I too have no desire to live there. However, most of what I saw in my limited experience with mostly Western North Carolina was pretty nice. I don't want to leave.

Fun fact: the Green Swamp Reserve in Brunswick County is pretty much the spot where Venus fly traps were originally discovered. They grow in other areas of the world now but they are natural to that small swampy area. You should see a car and how dirty it is after riding down the highway on a summer night. Sounds like rain hitting your car because you run into so many bugs.

We travelled extensively around NC one year (1800+ miles on a rental car in two weeks, never left the state). By accident, we stumbled upon a beer festival in Beer City, USA (ie. Asheville). A guy who was young enough to be our son denied us entry into a brewpub because he thought our Canadian driver licenses were fake lol We didn't try to contest it, and it didn't impact our good time, we just said "no worries, we'll just go to one of the dozens of other pubs within our peripheral." What a city! What a state!

I traveled through North Carolina about 30 years ago, from the Appalachians to the Outer Banks and loved it all! Such variety! Even though I lost my car keys on Ocracoke Island when a high tide wave knocked me over, I still had a wonderful trip. (Oh, if anybody finds some keys around the Outer Banks to a 1988 Mazda, those are mine, but that car is history, so you can keep 'em.) Ocracoke was the most beautiful remote beach I have ever seen. A particularly cool place I saw was Mt. Airy, the real life Mayberry, in the foothills of the Appalachians. The town was not yet overrun with tourists dressed like Andy and Barney; it had a nice sprinkling of images from the show, like an Aunt Bea's Restaurant and a Mayberry Mall shopping center.

Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Wilmington. All are very attractive and unique cities in one way or another! Thank you for sharing your information on North Carolina sir. I normally just go to the Cherokee Indian reservation there for trout fishing sir. I believe its the best trout fishing there in all the southern states sir. God bless you and your family sir. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊😊😊

The lighthouse that you showed is the Bodie Island lighthouse! Hatteras has angled stripes on it

I grew up in north East Tennessee and as a BoyScout we never had an issue with camping, hiking, canoeing, whatever. I moved to Dallas as an adult... yeah. There’s not too much of that sadly.

One of my favorite states! I love my home state of South Carolina, but I think it’s northern brother has even more to offer. Can’t beat those Blue Ridge Mountains anywhere east of the Mississippi.

Great video, as always. One minor critique: You mentioned the Hatteras lighthouse, but showed a picture of the Bodie Island lighthouse. :)

I have an indescribable love for this state. Having grown up in the same county where mount Mitchell is in the literal heart of the Appalachian mountains I could honestly never live anywhere other than in the mountains. My only concern right now though is within the last 2 to 3 years there has been an absurd influx of people moving to this region. House prices have tripled and small town vibes you get are slowly dying with all the new ppl who dont know the culture here. Its changing too fast
