Opening weekend at the Valley Railroad found all three operating steam engines pulling the sold out trains. This collection follows the 2-8-0 #97, which pulled a matching set of Pullman Passenger Cars on the 90 minute train rides.
#97 was built by Alco in 1923, and saw use on the Birmingham Southeastern Railroad, and then privately owned. The engine was purchased by the Valley Railroad in 2005, and uses a tender from a Central Vermont Consolidation #404.
The engine is painted as the North Pole Express, and lets us tons of smoke and steam!
