The #Aurora like you've never seen it before! in 4K/HDR! 1 A mix of Realtime and Timelapsed videos processed end to end in 10-bit #HDR. "Eternal Green" Some friends and I spent 17 nights in the Fairbanks, Alaska area chasing clear skies and capturing just about every kind of aurora phenomenon imaginable. We were successful 15 times!
The NORTHERN LIGHTS in High Dynamic Range
Science Out There is Michael's channel for all things outdoors and out of this world. And every now and then I like to just compile my favorite clips of a particular subject and just let that video do the talking. This video helps demonstrate the incredible dynamic range Aurora can produce, dozens of stops from faint horizon glows on up to bright white coronas that nearly rival the moon's brightness and illuminating the entire landscape in green.
To achieve HDR video, All timelapse captures were saved as RAW, and all live realtime video captures in 10-Bit 4:2:2. Every step of the process was done in Rec.2100 and output for KZfaq in H.264 Rec.2020 10-bit HDR.

Beautiful footage. It's like watching the very spirit of Planet Earth. I'm convinced this planet is a living being.

the shot starting at 5:18 is my personal favorite, probably because of how crisp the stars look behind the aurora

There is a special effect involved there. "Echo" with minimum filter. Makes bright stars pop and dim stars super sharp.

Many more videos coming from this trip! Aurora photography basics, Fall Color, A self-guided aurora tour, and so on. I have a crap ton of work to do! Drop me a comment for other video ideas related to Northern Lights or Alaska in case I'm missing something. Or let me know on Discord! discord.gg/bNMVrjf

Anyone know how to give 2 likes to this video instead of just 1? This is absolutely beautiful footage! I have just got to get up that way and see these with my own two eyes. When, where, and how, I don't know, but I will find the way.

I see this is a beautiful video, but all I can see is how much suffering you are experiencing processing, and storing all these files.

This takes seriously FOREVER and I had to render this video 3 times before my computer decided not to magically reset mid render! Thank you
