Northern Manitoba is still one of my favorite places to head to in the winter! Viking Lodge is becoming a second home where I can head and chase so many different species both open and hard water. On this trip I will be going after so many different species and not fishing the same lake twice, but today It's time to catch some Lake Trout!! Cheers!

Here in Alaska Ive had days they would not touch my tube jigs or anything artificial for that matter, but definitely would hit whole herring right smack on the bottom on tip ups. I’ve had those weird days for sure with lakers. Happy New year Dustin nice to see you chasing lakers again 🍻

Hey Clayton, first, excellent educational & wholesome videos always. Thank you! One thing I’d like to see you & the other ice fishing tubers do is please please put your blade guard on your auger once you’re set up. I know it’s a P in A but trust me, one day you will be very grateful you did. Ask me how I know. I’ve cut myself bad once ruined the whole day. Especially if you’re fishing with kids or dogs. Watching you run towards the flag on slippery ice with that auger blade exposed caught my eye. Stay safe man thank you so much for the content! Spread the word you have a receptive audience.
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors 7 ай бұрын
100% Agree with this, as soon as my auger goes on my self I always put it on. If I have it on the ice you will notice it's always in a spot where I am not going to run in dangers of catching it. (example) if you look at this video I took the auger and pointed the blade away from the area I would be standing. I often think of what could happen and being so far in the north sometimes... I will talk about auger safety in a future video as well. Thank you for the really good comment! (I should also note I wasn't running I was kind of shuffling, because I didn't have cleats on) :)

I do see that you had it pointed safety also, I know your dialed. Not everyone is as experienced etc. I really appreciate the quick reply & for talking about the topic if you help one person it’s a win. Hey Clayton, love your videos. Still no fishable ice in nothern Michigan in my area. Just want to ask about your rod holder/ shelf you have in your shack by your elbow? I run with the wide one inferno and love it but not many options for rod holder.. Thanks and keep up the good work..

I was curious to see how far away it would take me to get to lake Manitoba... 20 hours and 23 minutes straight! I wish I had an air plane there's an air port close to the lake! I think it would be fun to fish in Canada just to say I did but I hear it's kinda expensive.

Just curious! Why don’t you shovel the snow or clean off the top of the ice when you set up your shacks? Assuming you have a good reason. I’m also fairly new to ice fishing.
@ClaytonSchickOutdoors

Will create water and slush. There really is no advantage to clearing it off other than possibly seeing fish swim under the ice. Which I’ll do for certain situations

@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors makes sense. I just realized I asked this on the wrong video. But it was the video you tied your pb trout and the snow was piling up after you drilled the double 10. Love your videos. Great content and info.
