Totally agree about how Sisters of Battle are already female space marines. But for the dedicated and entrenched “activist” I usually shut them down with “hey, as soon as they have femboy ‘sissies of battle’ we can have female space marines” This, is a trap (rimshot), because as we know, the whole justification of the Sisters of Battle, is that the eclisarchy couldn’t have a standing army of men, so they “lol it’s more of a guideline than a imperial edict” and made power armor women their fighting force (because we all know how reasonable and fair handed the imperium is, that they’d be like “hey, good one guys, we’ll let it slide”

Oh man... Honestly in a number of cases kids are doing far better with their fathers. Just assuming the entitled parents stories about mothers leaving their kids in book stores to have them supervised by the employees, let them run wild or ruin their days by harassing staff and eventually getting kicked out of zoos, amusement parks or restaurants... In a lot of these stories the dad/husband is either strung along obviously kept in the relationship kept hostage psychologically. In the abandonment stories the father are often divorced and are the ones picking up the kids or turning up apologizing often gaining custody... Relationships can be tricky and depending on who messed up or who is acting irresponsibly it can be logical to remove custody (I know there are also stories about guys that don't care about the kids and shove all duties in terms of care, feeding, teaching to their wives/girlfriends.) But in every divorce or splitting up that doesn't involve bad behavior towards the kids as the reason the kids shouldn't be used as emotional leverage by refusing one party to see them.

I agree 100% with the vehicles rules i started playing in 7th and i really miss old vehicles. different armor profiles made the whole thing so much more immersive, especially the whole destroying weapons and leaving the model there as scenery after it lost all its hull points

Not sure how unpopular this is, but I strongly believe it's time to bin off paper codexes altogether. The sheer volume of rules updates that come out in the wake of a codex makes it so hard to keep track, and results in relying on battlescribe to be accurate half the time! Digital, updateable codexes should be the primary way of getting army rules. Couple that with free access to every army's codex, and I'd gladly pay gw a monthly sub!

I agree with the individual about vehicle rules being better in 5th through 7th Edition. But if they think vehicles have armor like "wet paper" though, they should played 3rd Edition or at least taken a look at the 3rd Edition rules. In my opinion, the best rules set overall was 3rd Edition (and to be up front, I started in 2cd Edition) but the vehicle armor rules and damage charts were lacking. Most of the folks who played 3rd Edition loved the rest of the vehicle rules, including the fact that mechanically side and rear shots were more effective. That's just my experience and opinion.

Best advice for dealing with loss like that is (1) get counselling. You might not feel like you need it, but you do. (2) accept that grief is a normal part of coming to terms with loss. Don't hide it or fight it. Deal with it on your terms. (3) try to find meaning by looking at the ways they live on - it comes to us all eventually and the only way we continue is through the marks we leave on those who are left. She may be gone but that Krieg army is still here, still a part of her in the world... And that's the best advice I can give. Hope it helps.

I do think slaneesh demons should be sexier. It seems that the only aspect of excess that GW want to portray in the demons is self mutilation. But there's so much more to excess than that, such as excess in vanity and wanting to be, or collect the most beautiful thing you can.

I think Dave Chappelle’s bit on abortion is succinct in stating my views on parentage. “Her body, her choice, my money, my choice” It’s not the grim darkness of the long ago, where women couldn’t have jobs, bank accounts or even rent apartments without a man co-signing with them. A man should be able to sign away his rights and not deal with the nonsense if he wants, just like a woman can have ripped from her womb without his say so.

Fucking hell, that story floored me - hope your man is doing alright. If you do get her models out it might be nice to have a captain or lieutenant dark angel or a sisters commander named after her leading either army (guess it'd be easier with the death korps) but if you do use them, that might be a nice touch. Head up mate.

The death guard invasion of Macragge, betrayal at Calth and tyranic wars were some of the only good parts of the ultramarine lore, coming from a Ultramarines player

I think the Ultramarines are p cool, and that female astartes would be a terrible idea and would be necessarily hideous looking(and not in a cool, grimdark way).

Peopel say there are no female space marines, but there are, they're called sister's of battle. They have power armour and a whole bunch of junk that pretty much just makes them marines. But also in real life, militaries have found it's far more affective to have all female regiments in their armies, then to mix the 2 genders. A prime example being a fully realised male soldier is heavy and hard to lift but can be lifted by another fully realised male soldier. A fully realised female soldier is lighter and can be lifted by a fully realised female soldier. So having the two genders separated in this occasion allows the unit to play to each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Ultramarines are to 40k what Michael Burnham is to Star Trek. Nothing against Discovery, it's got a great cast and some good episodes here and there, but it's all spoiled by Burnham being the Guilliman of Star Trek.

Well id have to disagree with you on the Ultramarines. Granted I haven't read every 40k book but probably have at least 30 under my belt from across the setting and I think their really cool. Especially the Dark Imperium series, its just so epic!! I know Roboute may not be the most exciting primarch but he's exactly what the Imperium needs. I find in the recent books they've written his character very well in accordance with his real life historical counter parts. Basically Roboute's super power is administration he can run an empire. In history the best kings were the same, they weren't always out on campaign they didn't over burden the population in taxes they were conservative in the sense that they planned for hard times in the future and they just knew the heartbeat of their people. It's a quality that I think is overlooked these days because in fantasy settings it's easy to admire the badass, the ones that are out chopping heads. Dose this translate to a stable empire though usually not. The politician's back home plot and scheme and rile up the people and eventually the empire crumbles. Roboute Gillian may not be the hero the Imperium wants but he's the hero the Imperium needs.

Here's an unpopular opinion: the only parts of the settings lore and aesthetic people like is taken from other works an the wholely original stuff to 40k is constantly forgotten because it's bland.

I too think that a “Holy Roman Empire” type of Imperium is far more thematically fitting (and explains the Imperium on Imperium fighting way better than “hurr durr, we got orders” or “we’re obstinate beyond reason”) Though you could always frame Marine on Marine as Force on Force training. I like the rivalry between Space Wolves and Dark Angels, I hate the idea that they’d kill each other over it. It also makes the Tau a threat.

OP made good choice to NOT post in on something like r/rpghorrorstories, since that behavior would be picked apart there - OP got overpowered advantage over other players just to mess with that-guy, simply 'cuz DM wanted to.

Driving home from work and you hit me with that poor guy's story, wasn't ready for it. Sorry for his loss. Hope he's doing well. And unrelated to that, the one unpopular opinion guy who doesn't want female Space Marines because it would de satirize the setting, I have bad news for that guy, but 40k isn't satire anymore, hasn't been for a while.

My hated opinion: Space Marines ruined everything. Not just 40k, but everything GW has done and will do. Everything is focused on SM, they get tonnes and tonnes of models, new codices for loads of chapters while other armies languish in the background for decades. The story is focused on the Emperor, the Primarchs and their sons. WHFB was ignored, left to starve and then finally axed to bring out fantasy marines. SM are the yard stick against which everything else is measured, and simply can't measure up to.
