They literally do it for Chili, the mom, where she demands 15 minutes to herself to hide in the bathroom and decompress. So Bandit, the dad, has to explain to the kids that she doesn't hate them and they didn't do anything wrong, parents just get overwhelmed sometimes and need to reset. Bandit, however, never gets that luxury. I love Bluey as a show that my kid has watched from when she was 4 to now as a 7 year old. But (and I don't know if it's done on purpose) they definitely make the dad look like ten times the parent that the mom is. It's kinda wild.

So all somebody needs to do is bring up a concept they thought was cool for a show for children that they have not seen because they aren't a child or some adult who overtly enjoys cartoons. They didn't even criticize the show beyond calling it kids television and yet people came out of the cracks to style on them for not watching a show for kids? Imagine if you were being goofed on for not knowing what happened in a specific paw patrol episode or something. I'm not saying Bluey is bad but it's okay if somebody doesn't want to watch something you like. You yourself can like it and that's fine. Bluey doesn't need to be the next MLP: FIM.

The chances were so crazy i thought God actually was intervening. The pastor said to the kid something about not letting the devil get a foothold in your soul, and my mom still got it for me for christmas with the strategy guide which i wish she wouldnt have thrown away when i joined the Navy because it goes for big money now. @fedweezy4976
@fedweezy4976 4 ай бұрын
@@B2Roland I def agree. Although, I think that a good episode would be one where he gets a bit mad at the kids (or just gets mad around the kids and they think he's mad at them) and eventually earns their trust back by the end of the episode. My dad had anger issues but what made it ok and honestly something to learn from is that he would always apologize sincerely and he would never get mad at us as people. I think it would be a good episode as it gives him a bit of a flawed appearance while also showing a good way to deal with the short term effects of a short temper in a way that makes the kids feel safe. But I don't really watch bluey so idk maybe they've already made an episode like that.

I said it in another comment but the show creators definitely make Bandit look like 10 times the parent that Chili is. I don't know if they've portrayed it that way on purpose or not, but I've had the same discourse about Bandit. Chili seems like a real representation of a parent and, as she's portrayed, she does a great job. However, Bandit is this unattainable goal of infinite patience and energy.

Like in the episode xellephone chili (the mom) literally tells the girls to remember to give their dad a bathroom break implying they haven’t previously and there is an episode where bingo hits him in the balls while sleep walking and he is forced to basically take care of two half awake children at once

I think you’re jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly based on a single episode and a couple of out-of-context clips. If you watch much more of Bluey, you’ll realize that Bandit plays along with his children’s antics entirely willingly and with little to no regrets; he doesn’t just let them do whatever they want without any restrictions, ; and actually does put his foot down and say “no” when he needs to. I mean, to be fair, I will agree to some extent that Bandit can be a little bit too lenient with the kids in some episodes and perhaps should say “no” a little more often (this episode, along with ones like Ice Cream, Kids and Hospital are good examples), but as long as Bandit isn’t being seriously hurt or isn’t completely spoiling his children, he is still an S-Tier dad in my book. He was named Father of the Year in 2019 for a reason.

@heckssoda588 it's fine to show a dad who cares and does stuff with the kids, or takes a genuine interest in what's going on, like probably Jimmy Neutron's dad who asked questions and talked to them. It's another thing to have a caricature of a dad that is 10000% a pushover and gets physically assaulted or humiliated by the kids. Bluey (or a child watching who wants to be like Bluey) will not grow up into a 13 year old who respects Bandit (or their IRL dad) when stricter parenting is required.

Him being called 'Bluey's dad is problematic'? Really. They did the same thing in Dexter's Lab, Fairly Odd Parents, Cow and Chicken, etc. Very common.

children abusing their parents is a big problem actually but if the feeling you get from bluey is : "Someone stand up for bandit this abuse is ridiculous" isnt it already doing what it can to prevent that or would a child not perceive that

Kids shows should contain characters which are good role models. Idc how perfect blueys dad is
@snkybrki
@snkybrki 4 ай бұрын
He'd still be a good role model, even if he didn't put up with what we saw in the clips. Based on the short clips here and my utter lack of knowledge on the show, the kids are...not being pleasant to the guy. Just do something that sends the message that your parents probably wouldn't like you being a dick to them. Literally something as simple as a "cut that out!" would work, I reckon.

"Bluey's dad is actually so good that I think it sets an unrealistic example for other dads that is impossible to live up to" reads just like the "Don't expect all other RPG's to be as good as Baldurs gate 3" argument other game devs were making.

Yeah, a lot of people don't talk about how misandristic patriarchy is. They only focus on the misogyny because they misunderstand what patriarchy is and how it hurts men as well as women.
