Not sure if anyone said this yet. If you already know of this, then I'm sorry beforehand. Magic Spear doesn't take two slots on your spellbook. The squares represent the number of dice needed to activate it from your spellbook. So if you put it on a three, then you need 2 three's to take it out. I saw it be really good if you put it on a prepared slot beforehand. Thus you can have it out without paying for two additional dice.

NL with Duplicate and Magic Key is like a MtG player who makes an incredibly long turn but doesn't actually end up doing much besides gaining some resources

Hall of mirrors is a go to for witch. Abuse it and have a heal available and by a couple turns into a fight you have enough dice to do anything.

Witch definitely can get you mind flooded, but I think running things like hall of mirrors, duplicate, and other Even spells is probably the way to go. Especially the dmg spells that take 2 dice like Blizzard, since you can turn witch into a mega dice machine with recastable equipment, having those to dump your essentially infinite dice into is OK hand emojis. Really loving the dicey dungeons content though!!

An essay on probability in Dicey Dungeons as the Witch: In order to best maximize the efficiency of your spell slots you have to consider not just what is on the card, but what is on every other card. Cards can be divided based on various categories, first are cards that can take any dice, then Even/Odd only dice, followed by min 4 and max 3 dice, and X Only dice. For the purposes of this, I'm overlooking 2 dice requirements, min 3 max 2, min 5 max 4, min 2, and max 5, and just going over the most notable examples. For cards which require one specific die be put into them, the most important fact is that with any number of dice, it is less likely to roll 2 of the same number than two different numbers. As example, if hall of mirrors is in slot 5, and you roll 2 dice, you can roll a [5,6] or a [6,5] and be able to cast it, while if hall of mirrors is in slot 6, you must roll a [6,6]. In a three die scenario you could roll [5,6,$] [6,5,$] [5,$,6] [6,$,5] [$,5,6] [$,6,5] [5,5,6] [5,6,5] [5,6,6] [6,5,5] [6,5,6] or [6,6,5] where $ is any number 1-4, for a total of 30 different rolls, instead of [6,6,%] [6,%,6] [%,6,6] or [6,6,6] where % is any number 1-5, for a total of 16 different rolls. As the number of dice increases, the difference in probability gets smaller by continually smaller margins, but it stays relatively close to being half as likely to roll doubles than any other combination, and it is therefor always more beneficial to put specific die requiring cards on other spell slots. Dice which require evens and odds, and for the same reasons min 4 max 3 dice, go by a different rule set however. Stand alone, all these cards are not as likely to trigger no matter where they are placed; in a 2 die scenario, one MUST be a 50/50 and one MUST be a 1 in 6 chance of activating, but as stated above doubles are about 50% less likely to be rolled. An even requiring card on an odd slot with 2 dice has a 6 in 36, or 1 in 6 rate of success, while if it were on an odd space, the likely hood would be 5 in 36. This can be shown by listing every triggering combination. If it is on slot 1: [1,2] [1,4] [1,6] [2,1] [4,1] or [6,1]. If it's on slot 2: [2,2] [2,4] [2,6] [4,2] [6,2]. Thus it is most beneficial for the single 50/50 card to be on a different spell slot. This is not however true for your whole set; if every odd slot has an odd requiring spell, and every even slot has an even requiring spell, then when you roll at least 3 dice you are guaranteed to be able to play and cast one of them. You could roll [O,O,O] [O,O,E] [E,E,O] or [E,E,E]. If you have even requiring spells on your odd slots, and odd requiring spells on your even slots, than you could roll all evens or all odds, and be unable to play and immediately cast one. Last there are cards which have free use. While these CAN be played using and number, and thus only REQUIRE you to have the dice of their spell slot, and one other, they frequently benefit you more to use one specific die with them. For instance, while ANY die can go in Pea Shooter, it is optimal to put 5s in it, and could therefor be treated as a "needs 5" card. Similarly a Hammer card could be treated as a "needs 6" by you if you want to always trigger the shock with it.

You know those spells that "take up two slots" as mentioned at 29:15? They don't take 2 slots, they take two dice to put into a slot. So they can be prime candidates for prepped spell slots. Emphasis on "can" of course.

NL, Magic Spear does not take up 2 slots on the witch, you say that with such authority but you are incorrect :P. Instead it means you need two dice to unlock it, so if you put it on slot 4 you’d need two 4’s to put magic spear on the board, if you put it on slot 2 it’d need two 2’s.

Skipping on those powerful spells at 25:55 made me oof a little. I respect the decision and he ended up with a fun run but all three are pretty nice. That skeleton fight in particular had me laughing really hard.

Even though he threw away one of the gimmicks of the challenge pretty early and missed lethal a couple times, this was still a pretty fun run. Ice seems a bit too strong, though.
