Dogs on the bike lane is kinda scary, since you don't know if they are the type to hunt after fast moving stuff. And you might ride over the leash, leading to suffering for the dog. It's just very dangerous and he was right to say so.

I mean... the guy can clearly see the dog, he easily avoided it. She's clearly having a momentary laps in attention without thinking about where she is. He can just say "Look out!" or something more immediately helpful if it was such a dangerous situation, but he didn't. People are just thinking shallowly. Everyone agrees parking in the bike lane if you're not like, doing work is kinda shitty. This guy puts on his cam, zips past people yelling nasty, sarcastic shit they probably can't even hear. He's just preforming for HIS camera. Not trying to help anyone or make a point about safety. Some of those people where just busy people who he passed by easily without any chance of hitting them who were momentarily lost in thought as they shuffled bags or a purse or some shit. @@polishpipebomb For the guy pushing the cart, and the guy parked kind of in the bike lane, I agree that he's not being helpful or anything. But dogs in the bike lane are legit dangerous. You never know when they're going to dash out and can cause the cyclist to crash or get someone hurt. Also unpictured are the food delivery ebike guys going 30mph in the bike lane. Just standing there not paying attention is a great way to get yourself or someone else hurt. The guy in the video is being a dick, but he's right.

I could not possibly disagree more with NL on the diet coke thing. First of all, saying "He got that old in spite of the diet coke, not because of it." is not insulting the old man's health. So he's already starting off on the wrong foot. Second, it's just objectively true. I don't have to be a jacked body builder to know you shouldn't drink diet coke every morning. When I worked in a supermarket some dumbass had the idea that what people wanted in summer was mega sized multipacks of diet coke cans (we're talking huge like 40-50 minimum, not for individual sale). Of course we sold none of them and we were shipped so many that the store warehouse was filling up. We even had some shoved in the freezer. So we just got told to take as many as we wanted home for free. I grabbed a pack and tried having one a day and fuck me that was a rough 2 months I felt so god damn sick all the time. They taste like ass and they're not even fizzy like full fat or zero, more like... Foamy. Anyway if I lived to 90 doing that I'd look worse than the love child of Prince Phillip and Baron Harkonnen.

As a city cyclist I feel obligated to mention that an “Idaho stop” law, which allows cyclists to yield at stop signs and treat red lights as stops, is not yet on the books in NY, but is a bit of a de facto standard. It’s not just for convenience, but also safer as intersections are dangerous to wait in due to vehicles turning or making unexpected lane changes.

Yeah, it's so safe 100% of people dying on bikes in NYC are running lights and stop signs. That shit works in Idaho, Lmao. Not in real cities with real traffic and street commerce. 0% chance you die if you stop at an intersection where cars have the right of way to drive across the area you are trying to cross. Objective Fact. Just a bunch of hobbyist cope. Like Motorcycle guys who will go on and on about how justified and safe it is for them to shoulder ride and just off road in traffic, Lmao. It's OBJECTIVELY more dangerous to use special laws for yourself while everyone is running on the REAL law and all their actions are dictated by that existing law. That will objectively result in the biker getting hurt much more often, by every statistical measure we've done. That was the whole idea behind bike lanes. A traffic lane for bikes, so they can follow the rules, and have a legal area that if they are hit turning or riding in, the car is in the wrong. But ya'll wanna be special and zip around. Well that risks on you, don't act surprised when you get obliterated by someone follow the ACTUAL traffic laws.
