This didn't come from a stream! It's piping hot fresh content made for KZfaq, I swear!
I'm playing on Chess.com -- these aren't sponsored videos but the site seems pretty cool.
Chess has been having a resurgence in popularity this year so I have finally acquiesced to semi-popular demand and started to play a bit. First, let's hone our skills and get a little more warmed up and then let's conquer chess dot com one board gamer at a time.
If you enjoyed the video, please consider hitting the Like button. It helps me out a lot!

NL, watch Levy's 10-min video on the King's Indian opening. You can use it for either white or black. Then at least you can get through the first half-dozen moves quickly and spend your time in the middle game. Kills me to watch you down by 5 min when your opponent still has 9 min on the clock.

@AltCtrlSpud
@AltCtrlSpud 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to say this without sounding overly harsh but the reason people play fast in the opening is because you're allegedly supposed to know your moves for the opening ahead of time, especially at the 1500 level. For example, the first guy probably put some time into studying the philidor defense and so knew the best responses to your moves ahead of time, allowing him to gain a superior position in the early game without chewing much clock

I think your Nxb5 on move 11 in the first game was a good play, regardless of what Stockfish's evaluation says. If you hadn't done that, he was just going to pawn-storm your queenside and destroy all your pawn cover, after which your king would've been on the run and you would've been playing a very different game than what you ended up playing. Computers tend to over-value minor pieces and material advantage in general because they assume perfect play, that you're going to be able to wriggle out of every precarious situation down the line by finding the one ridiculous, counter-intuitive move that saves you every single time, which just isn't what happens with human players.

What are your thoughts on playing a longer time control, like 15 or even 15 | 10? I'm cool with whatever, but I find your analysis and talking through your moves to be interesting and that's why I'm watching, but you have a tendency (as you're already aware) to fall behind on time as a result. I only speak for myself, my enjoyment of the content would be greater if you weren't always behind on the clock, because when you're behind on the clock, puzzling through some of the lines and explaining the analysis starts to go out the window. Loving the chess videos either way!

The queenside castle when the opponent was already throwing pawns at your face is very brave. The immediate knight sac afterwards to stop the imminent pawn storm not so much, but it was rather creative. If a grandmaster had played it, it would have been called a briliant move for sure! Keep the chess coming!

It does win a rook for a knight, but it gives white a turn to play Kb1. So then you don't have a chance to attack with Qa2. The computer sees the attack on the king winning more than just a rook for a knight.
