Cleaning inside Fore end Skipped. Bore snakes are for in field or blind not for proper cleaning; spraying CLP in bore [never reaches all barrel especially 32"-34" ones on O/U-SXS] it waste it and not as good on clean patches. For 60+ years hoppes 9 in bore on patch put on proper gauge brush 1 time remove patch new one repeat. wait 10 minutes to let it work; run bore brush 3-5 times then run patch thru to remove residue clean patch. Now a patch with Kroil [great penetrates millionth inch wait few minutes. Run couple clean patches to remove all residue then Run a patch lightly coated with Clenzoil or your preference. [I then remove choke tubes wipe exterior with Hoppe #9 then dry paper towel wipe with clenzoil exterior and threads; I put clenzoil patch on wool mop insert in threads & rotate to keep them free of grit. I use Clenzoil on my gun bores, action, exterior and on oil finished stock[ proven it will enhance grain]. I wipe inside fore end with Clenzoil to protect the generally unfinished wood. The I use snap caps or buffalo horn to release firing pins, I then wipe inside action with clenzoil lightly on a patch being sure to wipe Trunnions/hinge pins then assemble SXS or OU. Wipe exterior with silicone cloth [removes excess protectant stand muzzle down IN GUN SAFE OR CLOSET NEVER IN Zipper cases. For over 60 years never a speck of rust or other problem. Gun can be stored years after this. Process take less than 20 minutes. If shooting next day I Run patch with Hoppes thru bores brush 3 times run clean patch then patch with Kroil in bores leave it ;wipe inside action Hoppes 9 dry paper towel then a light coat Clenzoil. I then wipe exterior shotgun inside fore end with clenzoil on lamb wool wipe. Check choke tubes in firm. Release firing pins store muzzle down[ keeps oil running in stock softening wood]. 10-12 minutes. If in rain or moist conditions then more time exterior and inside forends.

Clp is cleaner/lube/preservative. Pretty much typical gun care.

You grease tractors, not chokes.

Because of the extremely high temperatures that barrels can reach, particularly on flush or simulated game, regular gun oil can effectively ' burn off" chokes. Some people use car engine oil on their chokes but the modern silicone gun greases are far more tolerant to high temperatures and a number of the manufacturers recommend grease over regular oil. Basically, you grease tractors and chokes.

@@jlight1965 I don't know what you are using, but we use a high quality oil. 1000 rounds on a tournament weekend and chokes are still lubed.

Wow CLP honestly is the biggest joke out there it truly is and one or two passes through a bore with a bore snake doesn’t really get the plastic out of the barrel sorry been there done that seen it I’ve been to shotgun tournaments trap and sporting clays or people of use the board snake and their guns are so nasty it’s not even funny sorry all of it is a joke
