Captured here is the heavy rescue team of the Oslo Fire Department responding to two seperate incidents in the Norwegian capital city!
This special rescue squad is made up of unit 96 and 97, which are based at the main fire station (station 9). Unit 96 is a unique Volvo tow/ crane truck, used to quickly clear roads after an accident. Unit 97 is a Scania heavy rescue truck stocked with a large variety of rescue equipment for everything from vehicle and train accidents to elevator rescues and opeing doors. The heavy rescue team usually responds to all traffic accidents in the city of Oslo and sometimes in the surrounding areas as well, for major incidents.
THANK YOU to the firefighters of Oslo for welcoming me and showing me their vehicles and equipment!

That was pretty cool! I like heavy rescue units, particularly ones used for moving stuff. They're very hard to film in most countries. We don't really have any 'tow' trucks here in the UK but some heavy rescue units have a crane, albeit not many. I like the information as well!
@EnjoyFirefighting
@EnjoyFirefighting 5 жыл бұрын
true, in some countries or most places in those countries it's hard to film them; However some Heavy Rescue trucks respond quite often, like once or even several times a day. Same goes for the three Heavy Rescue Units in Oslo, Norway, or the Heavy Rescue Trucks in Berlin, Germany. It took me hours to film heavy rescue trucks there, while it took me years to film it in my own city.
@CobraEmergency

@@EnjoyFirefighting Here they're also pumpers so relatively easy to film. But they don't have a crane or tow.

@@CobraEmergency the Recovery Truck in Oslo is also used to transport the LUF60; Many large cities and very few towns have a FD operated mobile crane, unfortunately there's none like that in Norway. I looked it up right now: it took me 5 years to film the Heavy Rescue Truck in my city, but it took only up to half an hour to film the ones in Oslo - in all three cases I filmed it

Strange premier hazard lightbar on the Volvo. DIN blue lenses on the outside and light blue lenses on the inside. Why? I know there was this thing years ago that rotator lightbars should have DIN blue lenses in Europe but to mix them on an LED lightbar seems confusing.

Nice catch! 96 and 97 are relatively easy to catch since they run quite many calls throughout the entire city area. The first spot at Majorstuen station is quite popular for emergency vehicles, close to station 1 and in general a hotspot for all kinds of emergency services. THe main fire station was awesome before the government district was built up like that, with the tunnel system etc. Now it's just strange, interesting but also hard to film with the 4 station exits to all four sides. But to be honest I don't feel comfortable filming right there at the station any more. Luckily it will be replaced in a few years. I guess you didn't visit the construction grounds of the new main fire station and the new downtown fire station. I was there only few days ago and was able to film everything from Air Rescue Doctor Cars to BLS Transport Ambulance, an old American Ambulance, Military Police patrol car with new color scheme etc

Has the construction of the new station started? Looking forward to the new station, as I agree with you on the current situation at the main fire station, for many reasons it is not comfortable to stand there waiting.
@EnjoyFirefighting
@EnjoyFirefighting 5 жыл бұрын
@@EmergencyScandinavia they started the construction for the new Downtown station, but not for the new Main station. They agreed on the right property just some few weeks ago. New stations in Norway tend to have a decent high-class style which I really like; While some new stations in Germany are pretty nice, I don't like the appearance on many new stations here. Although I live right outside of my state's capital city, I still haven't visited the newest station of the career FD there simply because I don't like it; But one thing they can do better at Norwegian stations: make it more obvious for filmers when the alarm goes off ;)

@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses I'm not really a fan of filming in Munich. I live right outside the city (Munich airport is within my response area). The Rescue Engines are the same all over the city, and although there are numerous special operations apparatus scattered at the different stations, it can be hard to film some of them. By now I went from "filming somewhere in Munich" to "filming at the outskorts of Munich" to catch the super rare stuff instead of the ordinary stuff. Like all kinds of industrial fire departments including Munich Airport FD, money transfers, ambulances from abroad, highway patrol and mutual aid convoys. Sometimes I respond to calls in Munich (primarily with our Emergency Doctor Car), and we regularly transport patients to hospitals in Munich with our ALS Emergency Ambulance. On your way from the airport into the city you literally pass my station but you won't see it from the highway or train track

Gotta say... One thing i find annoying here is that we have 3 emergency numbers, 110 (fire and rescue), 112 (police) and 113 (ambulance), why do we have three and not one number like USA... Its just so annoying. When you call 112,113, or 110 you talk to the same call central, which also means, you CAN call 110 and get police, so whats the point of all three...

how come theres no american style trucks in europe
@EnjoyFirefighting
@EnjoyFirefighting 5 жыл бұрын
First off: there are American style trucks in Europe. Some few American Engines and Aerials are e.g. in Poland and Iceland, you find also some American apparatus at US Army bases (they get more and more recplaced by European apparatus); American Vans as emergency vehicles were quite popular in Sweden and Norway but there are hardly any of them left today. Pickup Trucks were widely used in Sweden and Norway as well, today there are only few places which still purchase new ones. The reason for most places in Europe not having American fire apparatus is quite simple: not built on commercial chassis, no service partners in Europe and of course also the size of the trucks and layout: it doesn't fit to the tactics in most countries and the trucks themselves often don't fit into tight places. Just think how an American Tower Ladder is supposed to fit into the streets of a thousands years old city center...
@Twittler1
@Twittler1 4 жыл бұрын
How come there are no European style trucks in America? Ans: Because you make your own. We make our own. For most urban places in Europe, American trucks are just too big. European emergency services also prefer to have vehicles based on commercially available chassis, for ease and lower cost of maintenance. All big American fire trucks are on the manufacturers’ own chassis and have bespoke bodywork, and cost an absolute fortune. They’re basically custom vehicles; European trucks comply to pan-European regulations for each type. The ‘lights and music’ used are up to the area buying them.
