Where to see this in Oslo? Here is the website: norskfolkemuseum.no/ PS: I think they do the traditional dance only in summer.

Me who realizes I’m like more than 50% Norwegian knowing that my ancestor were fricking VIKINGS!! I couldn’t ask for anything more tho

more than likely they were farmers. Viking wasn't a culture, it was an occupation. Most Scandinavian and Norse folks weren't Vikings.

Not all Scandinavians were Vikings…

@thundernorse1098 I understand what you’re saying. Just because somebodies heritage is Scandinavian/“Norseman”, doesn’t mean that they conducted Viking activities such as plundering and raids. As the other guy commented, the homies ancestors were probably farmers 🤷🏻♂️

Probably related to Olaf the Wheat Farmer instead of Ragnar Lothbrok. I don’t mean to put him down, I’m just looking at this from a realistic point of view

Pięknie! Super! Piękne, piękne i prawdziwe ❤❤❤❤😊 🇵🇱🇸🇯🇵🇱🇸🇯

This dance is known as a Schottische. It originated in Bohemia, and then spread and became popular in other European countries such as Norway.

Love this! Do you know what the song and/or instrument is?

It looks like a hurdy gurdy, but I may be mistaken

It's called Nyckelharpa in Swedish, which means key harp. It's not very common in Norway. Check out the Swedish group "Väsen" if you like it, they're great.

what is this dance called? (would like to find it to practice)
@jamie0323002 жыл бұрын
It's called Gammel Reinlender (Old Schottische), although it appears a few adjustments were made. Half of the figures are supposed to be performed four times, but it appears they only did them twice to shorten the dance.
