6 жыл бұрынLouis XIV (Louis Dieudonné; 5 September 1638 - 1 September 1715), known as Louis the Great (Louis le Grand) or the Sun King (Roi Soleil), was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who reigned as King of France from 1643 until his death in 1715. Starting at the age of 4, his reign of 72 years and 110 days is the longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country in European history.
In the age of absolutism in Europe, Louis XIV's France was a leader in the growing centralization of power.

Only for the French. Many great kings used the imagery of the sun, or, more often in pagan cultures, mythological links to the sun, particularly in times of "newfound" enlightenment, for hopefully obvious reasons. With that said, to my knowledge Louis XIV is the only directly called the "Sun King" and I can think of no monarch in modern history more suited to that title.

Many french are not hostile to the monarchy, only the leftard are trigger when we talk about this. Plus, the monarchy can be very democratic, just look to the Netherlands and northern kingdom, not this "huge joke V" republic...

Premier soft-power du monde, cinquième économie mondiale, une des principales puissances militaires du monde (la seconde en Europe, juste derrière la Russie), présente sur tous les Océans, qui a également un poste de membre permanent du conseil de sécurité de l'ONU (Ce qui lui donne un poids diplomatique énorme) et qui a de surcroît l'arme atomique (troisième puissance nucléaire mondiale). En plus de ça, la France reste encore aujourd'hui le pays le plus visité du monde, avec une culture connue de par le monde entier.

March for the Turkish Ceremony (Marche pour la cérémonie des Turcs) was written by Jean-Baptiste Lully in 1670. It is taken from the ninth comedy-ballet entitled « Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme » by the playwright Molière. Comedy ballet is a combination of spoken comedies, singing, and dancing. This form was desired by King Louis XIV in order to sew together theater, music and dance without breaking the thread of the piece. Context: The King received the emissary of the Grand Turk represented by Suleiman Aga in 1669 but the diplomat's clumsiness and casualness turned into a caricature. It was then that the famous « Turkish ridiculous ballet » was born. The comedy-ballet is a veritable reservoir of the processes that Jean-Baptiste Lully will find in lyric tragedy. She is entirely instrumental and is intended to be danced. So it’s ballet music. To heighten the irony of this scene, the composer uses all the instruments at his disposal and also uses percussion with oriental sounds. The march is structured around two repeated musical phrases. From the first notes, everything is done to create a solemn character: the key of G minor, the dotted rhythms similar to opera overtures and supposed to represent the march of the Sun King. This colored piece also includes a small tessitura of which the repetitions offer a journey of exploration of the timbre in the composition. *Lucien*

This is by Jean Baptiste Lully; he wrote lots of beautiful French Baroque music which is worth checking out if you love this :)

@@Guy-71 Mon ami, the people who lived on the italian peninsula before Jesus Christ haven't changed until now ehtnically/genetically, I can link you the studies if you want to learn. The same goes for the north and south, they aren't much different genetically, to say there is an "enormous" difference, it shows your ignorance on the matter. The same thing can be seen in other large countries, like Germany for example. The Germans are spread out over an even greater area than the Italians, according to a study, it's around the same genetic distance. In addition, Germany has East-West differences that are even more prominent. The cities of Munich and Dresden are only 359 km apart, yet according to Heath et al., their populations form two distinct genetic clusters connecting Eastern and Western Europeans. You french are the ones who should be worried about the ethnic differences in your country, not us.

When it comes to my favorite French Monarchs I would have to say that one of my tops are Louis IX because I love learning not just about him, but is crusade history. A more recent French monarch that I like studying about is King Louis XIV since I like researching what he had to do to make France the dominant power of Europe during his time.

@@aaronmariscal7983 After all Philip II is descendant of Louis IX. He is the only king that took part in the whole two Crusades and managed to make his brother king of Sicily. Also brought a crown of thorns to France and made Paris a center of Western Christendom.

Milan Latona No it weren‘t. Hunger, diseases, hard work and a very authoritarian Government. If you did anything, or even didn‘t do anything, they could put you into jail without any reason and torture you as they like. France at that time would be pretty similar to north korea today, exept they had a european culture and the country was economically on one level with other important countries, while the economy of north korea is in relation to other important countries very bad and their culture is an east asian one

So it's not France or French that found human rights (or private property rights.) freedom of speech etc. French much later found Women rights and equality of citizenship regardless of religion, gender etc. (also religion was abolished from government = Laie revolution.) and worst of all Nationalism sickness. (This thing is a poison released by the french to the entire world, made it easy for Colonial powers to divide and conquer.)
