Ons ry vanaf Tweerivieren tot by Kij-Kij watergat. Daar draai ons weg en ry al oor die duine en slaap die eerste aand by Witgat. Die kampeerplekke het geen krag of water nie, jy moet heeltemal selfversorgend wees. Daar is wel ‘n “stort” en longdrop. Die tweede dag ry ons tot by Rosyntjiebos. Ons kuier heerlik elke aand om die kampvuur en daar is baie interessante stories wat uitkom. Wat ‘n ondervinding! Ons gids, Thys, stop baie met ons en gee vreeslik baie interessante inligting van die veld deur. Hy bak ook ‘n paar poetse op ons……Die diere is min, maar bly mooi.
Ry gerus saam met ons, geniet die mooi veld en natuurskoon. Dis regtig iets besonders. Die Kgalagadi gaan nooit weer dieselfde wees nie!

If Witgat is named for that tree, witgatwortelboom, it would be Matopi in the local Setswana language, pronounced mah-top-pee.

My cousin bonded with the feral horses at Aus, some 40-odd years ago. He travelled in his Ford Sierra 3.0l V6. I went from Hluhluwe to Alldays to Agulhas to Nigramoep in regular sedans, sometimes in deep sand. Up until 1982, almost nobody owned a 4x4, yet we went everywhere. Tyres 0.8 bar front, 1.1 bar rear, 3rd gear and Mexican speedocruise. We had no 4wd, no diff locks, no low range. Just skill and common sense.

Julle sal dit baie geniet. Dink dit sal baie lekker wees as julle ‘n groep vriende is wat dit saam doen. Dis baie lekker en Thys is ‘n uitstekende gids.

Dit is pragtig! Ons geniet die saamry verskriklik. Ek verstaan net nie die klank kontras tussen die gesprek en musiek nie, die gesprekke is sag en die musiek baie oordonderend.
