I review the new NECA TMNT: The Adventures of Space Usagi figure. Usagi Yojimbo has had some crossovers with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so we can give it a pass even though it made no appearance in the cartoon like this. Usagi, made popular by Stan Sakai, has had many of his own adventures and the Space Usagi comic is a real thing!

My 8 yo son was at target w his mom and he saw this figure. He knew i was after it and it was the last one. He hid it behind wwe figures and told me," nobody will find it there, exept you dad." That was last night, so guess where im goin before work today. My boy is the best.

McFarlane, Hasbro, and even Mondo could really learn a lot from NECA on the cel shading paintjobs. Hell, I guess NECA's is less than perfect sometimes, too, but they really knock it out of the park more often than not. And this one is exceptional.

Fun Fact: the blast effects from the iron man fig are multiple parts. The smoke, the blast effect and the base. The base is removable. Just grab the wide part and the flame and twist em to see what I mean. You could really get the profile down on those effects that way.

@@NostalgiaUnboxed Yeah these tiny pieces of plastic are easy to lose. I have drawers and drawers of this stuff by now😹 That particular effect gets put out in all kinds of colors with every Iron Man legend. They’re easy to come across. I’m sure you’ll find some more eventually.

FYI Jonathan, the dinosaurs design is inspired by a Diplodocus which was actually the most popular Dino in the early 20th century. There were famous company mascots named Dippy the Diplodocus and the Sinclair Oil Dyno. Of course, we all know that Sauropods get HUGE and the babies probably grew-up fast so this is just a loose representation for fun. However, it's body aspects and morphological features is most akin to the pre-cursor of the Long-necked Dinos called Prosauropods from the late Triassic. Examples being Plateosaurus & Massospondylus. These animals were not giants, about Horse size, so maybe that fits his companion better.

I have been a Usagi fan since the early comics. I wish Neca would make some of the other charactersin the Usagi comics. They would be such cool looking figures. Stan Sakai is an incredible artist! I have this figure and the two previous ones (standard and black & white), but thanks for the review.
