His Reloading bench is a mess, probably because the wife restricted him to one small corner of the living room! Yeah, I don't even get the corner! All my Reloading tools and supplies are stuffed in a cabinet, in the basement, and the overflow is boxed up on the floor next to said cabinet!

Good to know. I have not dived into loading shot shells yet. I would not have thought to measure and weigh the actual shot to make sure that following the load data gives the optimal result.

Coming from the world of competitive 22lr where it's not uncommon to sort ammo by weight & rim thickness, this is absolutely logical. It would eliminate many hair pulling variables when developing loads. Thanks again for your Many videos where you patiently & happily explain in a way that is easily understood by all.

Word of advice .Never put a cell phone or tablet near your scale .They will cause errors in the scales accuracy !I use those fiocchi hulls and a different wad and paper wad over powder. and 1 1/4 ounce 34 gram Diablo slug cast in lee slug mould with type set lead and 37 grains /2.4 grams of sr4756 .Let's just say the deer go down .I have a video on KZfaq of a head shot 6 point in Collingwood Ontario Canada.Sleeping /resting deer wounded from a battle with a bigger buck went to bed down about 25 yards away .with all the noise we were making you think it would have taken off .Nope !

Wade, something occurred to me. Maybe try a buckshot load with how u do with full sized wad, but with buckshot loaded further in front inside the wad so it Flys nose heavy like a foster slug before discarding wad in air resistance. I'm thinking the wad shot combo will fly more stable. 🤔

If you are prudent and pay attention...mass is mass....ive been experimenting w buck,buck n ball,and pumkin ball. I use a 1-1/8 oz load, weigh buckshot, I've used red dot,and universal...15 pellets of .310 wheel weight balls for .32 ml.... 3 .310 ball w .62 cal ball,and single .62 cal ball. You dont need to magnum the load ...the load need to patterns...use seals ,felt wads 20 ga in 12, and be sensible. Im considering using 20 ga wads un slit inside a 12, a 28ga may be better....wads can help w patterns, and remember.... they're non nato approved but wgaf.

Mr. Rush, I'm having an extremely hard time finding any load data on the big heavy buckshot loads like the #1 (2.19 oz) or the #00 (1.84 oz) I watched one of your videos today (again) and you had the weight of the 15 #00 as 1.5 oz. The only powders I have are the Alliant Steel, Longshot and Green Dot. I have looked and looked, bought the Cheddite manual and Buckshot manual from BP, but can not find one recipe for 3" mags at or over 2 ounces of shot with these powders. Obviously, I don't want to exceed the PSI max, so I'm still hesitant to load these even though these loads have been on the market for probably 40 years. Any suggestions ?? Thank you !!

@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hey bud!! when we're getting 'factory round' velocities; (1000 to 1100 fps) most pellets will be stopped by the hide on the opposite side! When we're getting velocities at 1300 or above, we will see complete pass throughs up to and beyond 50 meters, (with pellet sizes of #2 buck and larger) so depending on pellet size.

Do you have an idea of the ratio’s of the alloy in your molded buckshot? I’m sure it has Tin and Antimony in it but I’m curious to know your guess of the %. I just bought a mold from Marty and some lead ingots from midway. The ingots are 2% Tin, 6% Antimony and 92% lead. I’m hoping in the future to start collecting wheel weights so I don’t have to buy lead.
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
I use wheel weight lead Steven... and according to the Lyman bullet handbook, wheel weights on average have 4 to 6% antimony and tin with the clip on type and about 2% in the stick on weights. I use the 4% mix most of the time!
