This is amazing! With all the Internet searching I have done on bladder prolapse and talking to 2 different OBs and a pelvic floor physical therapist, I haven't seen/heard this information anywhere else. I am failing miserably at these contractions. It's like my brain and these parts can't hear each other.

This was the game changer for me also! I learned the technique in yoga at a workshop in Sweden with one of my favorite teachers @kinoyoga If you practice this with consistency, you will get all of the muscle fibers working and can then progress to the endurance and speed exercises 😊🌸

This is amazing! Before I was always clenching my butt to contract my pelvic floor and thought that was it. Now with this video I can actually know which muscle groups I am contracting! I put my finger on the hole/area which I want to contract and that helps with focus. One question How do I implement these contractions for Vaginismus? And how often should I be doing it?

With vaginismus, you should place more focus on relaxing your pelvic floor. The relaxation exercises on the channel should help with that. Then for the breakdown, instead of doing Kegels, you can do reverse Kegels where breath into your pelvic floor and try to relax the area in question rather than contracting it.

Hi. Useful video, but can I ask, for those of us with different anatomy would it be correct to use the “nuts to guts” cue for step 6 - close vaginal opening. ? I find the sequence useful as it’s pinpointing which step is triggering my pelvic pain ( coincidentally step 6 but only with higher than 50% contraction). So it’s giving me something to work with. Thanks

Yes, nuts to guts is the didn’t queue for step 6! Do you think it would be useful to have a male version of this video? Stronger contractions will recruit other muscle groups. To help a little further in narrowing down the muscles that trigger your pelvic pain, you could do step 6 and see which muscles you feel co-contracting. I would focus on strengthening and lengthening that muscle along with its agonist. For example, if you find it’s the adductors that are activating with step six, do some adductor and abductor strengthening and lengthening exercises and hopefully that will address the issue 👍🏻😁🌸

How do women feel when the urine is coming so they don't leak? Where abouts do yous feel the urge when you need to go? I know it's in the abdomen, but do you also feel the urge in the urethral outlet? Do you feel that the urine is moving towards when you urinate from? In men, we feel the urge in the abdomen and the urine can be felt moving to the penis. It is just good to know as overactive bladders and other issues with urinating are much more common in women than in men. Sorry just asking a question - Just good to know to prevent accidents from occurring by urinating on time.

Good question! The sensation of needing to urinate comes from the bladder which contracts (see my video on normal bladder function). When it comes to female urination, when you relax the external urethral sphincter (which you have control over), the nervous system also relaxes the internal urethral sphincter. When the internal sphincter relaxes, females feel the urine coming into the urethra (if they are aware of it). When their is urine leakage, it usually happens unintentionally, so in stress incontinence there is too much intraabdominal pressure which causes the internal sphincter to open letting urine into the urethra which results in leakage (even if it’s only a small amount). With overactive bladder, it’s a little more complicated, but again, if the internal sphincter opens, it will cause leakage. There are lots of tricks to help with overactive bladder type leaks (which I cover on another video) and strengthening the pelvic floor while learning to manage intraabdominal pressure can also help. Hi, Living with vaginismus for 2 years finally we had intercourse last week with the help of a sex therapist. But can I ask you even though we are penetrating I don't get any pleasure from sex but my partner is. I guess it's beacuse I'm not completely out of this fear and tension? We are taking it very slow. How long would it take me te be not conscious about having sex?

It’s quite a complex question. The most important thing is to make sure there is clitoral stimulation before/during stimulation and most women require clitoral stimulation to feel pleasure. It’s the “on-switch” for pleasure. The clitoris is the equivalent of the head of the male penis (where most of their pleasure is created). If you can make yourself orgasm with clitoral stimulation, you are off to a great start 👍🏻
