We had a jayco and it was a 100,000.00 dollars new had it 2 days and had nothing but problems. Ended up selling it and thankfully paying off the loan. We had to do all the work finding someone to fix it. No help from the camping world till I called our local news channel and they payed the facility a visit. And that’s when heads starting rolling. Four months without a vehicle and stranded.

They build them and sell them...and then its your problem. 3-5 years 36-60K miles waranty for a new car purchase ..and these guys are dealing with this shit after a year... Jayco hasn't learned the rule...one pissed-off customer will kill your other 100 sales. After seeing this, Jayco is off my list! Thank you Liz for posting this.

Exactly. We have owned several "pre Thor" Jaycos and the quality and customer service were exceptional. Thor has acquired a number of RV brands and, personally, I would never purchase a Thor manufactured RV. Thor has done more to destroy the reputation of RV's than just about anything I can think of.

What amazes me is that anybody expects any RV to be a "quality" product, or that RV companies will treat you right. The best you can say is that some are better than others. The business model of the whole industry is to promise everything and deliver as little as possible. I wouldn't go near any of them.

My wife and I took an RV trip during 2021 after an extreme bout of "Covid madness". We just had to get out and see our loved ones, by hook or by crook. One of the main things we noticed in our first (and only) RV experience is that these things rattle themselves to pieces on the road. So much of the construction seems to be of a kind that was never intended to move, let alone at high speed on the Interstate. It does not surprise me that the interiors are always falling apart. Like living through a 6-hour earthquake every day.

George, thanks for being here and watching these. Not a good time to buy new, but trailers and fifth wheels built in 2019 and before tend to be well-built. The motorhome sweet spot is 2002 to 2008. But you have to buy new if you intend on using RV parks... Alot of them won't take any RVs older than 5-15 years.. we will be using ours as a home next spring.. we are tired of paying $2000+utilities per month on rent and being refused our own mortgage for our own home... So this was the next best thing possible..😂

( I guess, for the record, I should state that I haven't cleaned their windows for months now,,I did them myself for over 2 yrs, but as of this year, I had to cut my work load down & they didn't make the cut ;) Congrats on your new 5th wheel.. We had a German built HYMER Nova travel trailer and it was solid as rock and built like a battle ship. I wish I could say the same about our current 5th wheel. We actually drove our Alliance to the factory for repairs and they had it a month and still didn’t fix it properly. Eventually we sat down with the management and we stuck a deal where we put 20 grand in and they put 20 grand in and swapped out for a newer better 5th wheel. You may have to take your trailer back to Jayco and ask them to do the right thing and contribute to a newer better trailer. Good luck guys.

Jayco was just scratched off my short list of manufacturers ... I think I'm going to opt for a Cirrus 920 truck camper. It's made of composite Azdel so no rotting wood. It has an aluminum roof so no torn membranes. They are not trouble free but NuCamp really seems to go above and beyond in construction techniques and materials ... NuCamp is now offering a 7 year transferable warranty with no deductibles on anything... Full stem to stern 100% warranty for a price. What that price is yet to be determined !! Hopefully, the extended warranty is affordable. Almost at 100k Liz , you'll be there before you know it !! 🌵

Wow. Incredible. These guys are so right with their concerns. Thanks Liz, it's about time one of these RV channels isn't existing off corporate sponsorship. I have seen some of them get brand new trailers, and had problems right off the bat. They seem to get issues resolved instantly, while the real customers who worked and saved for years to buy an RV are ignored. I feel so lucky that my 2020 FR trailer, that I bought used 2 years ago, has been trouble-free except for a water filter cracking and leaking. FR doesn't even warrant a 2nd hand trailer, even if it's a year old. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing, we had a used trailer when our kids were young and really enjoyed ourselves with a very basic used trailer. Dreamed of retirement and spending time with family and friends near and far away. So disappointed, the work to maintain our trailer is hard work, so few places are available and affordable, and the rules at many state parks have become restrictive and very limited stays despite the season. Since we have family spread out we didn’t want a permanent site, and we have had to cut back because some very basic areas are over priced and restrictions on stays ridiculous when half the sites are not occupied. And trying to find a simple trailer without frills and too much glass. I know a lot of people enjoy high end and long term stays, and I’ve met so many nice folks, but simple and sturdy, easy to clean, and maintain and comfortable don’t seem like too much to ask. And storage fees are constantly increasing. So disappointing after retirement seeing our many years dream vanish.

And getting worse. Was told a few weeks ago the pandemic surge is over, and there is a glut of RV’s on the lots, new and used. But looking at them, so many look really cheap, trim overdone, warped doors and cheap flooring, tiny appliances. The cost of state parks and private resorts have skyrocketed, I could actually get a decent motel or cabin room cheaper than rent a back in site with electric, state park for four weekdays. The RV industry exploited people during the last four years, and many people are taking a loss to dump their high maintenance rv’s .

2/24 I spent many years working for a company that placed their customers ABOVE all else. They would rather eat the the profit from one customer and send them away happy thanksgiving to suffer the dominoe effect one unhappy customer Can produce. In the 20+ years I spent with this company I witnessed time and time again how well that worked for them. The first line of the promise to their customers was: We will never knowingly disappoint you….. They didn’t, and it is still working for them. Water damage in a camper can cause mold. Jayco, do the right thing, make your customer be giving these guys a new trailer, or refunding their money. It’s only in your best interest as well as your customers.

its a 2022 Covid trailer. Research all you like unless you get an Airstream the builds are all pretty similar. If you want customer service attention try Grand Designs, but don't assume they are built better. They are particle board trailers. Ironically, Jayco's are better built. They just don't answer the damn phone

Sounds like the only way to get Jayco's attention is through legal action. By the nature of the damage on the roof being under new material, I wonder if it's possible they are sneaking a few 'refurbished' trailers through the production line?

Not at all surprised by the issues with Jayco. In 2017 we purchased a new Jayco Whitehawk towable. At about month 4 or 5 we had an issue with the floor structure that continued to get worse. We learned that it was in fact a design issue (engineering failure) that owners of Jayco's had been dealing with for several year's. The dealer was no help in that they said Jayco only wanted to pay them for about a third of what it took to remedy the issue. Numerous letters to Jayco were only answered by phone calls. They would not respond with anything in writing. They would never answer a direct question only saying to get with my dealing and they would work with us on it. They would never directly say what they would do to remedy the issue only "we'll work with you on it" even when told the dealer's wouldn't because of Jayco's lack of support with them. After two years I was so fed up with Jayco and their lack doing anything we got rid of the trailer at a big loss.

Thanks for the video and bringing attention to these problems concerning RV manufacturers and their warranties, Jayco is supposed to have one of the best warranties in the business but when I was looking into buying a Jayco I read a lot of bad reviews about their quality and not standing behind their products so I took them off my list even though their RVs look really nice. I personally think Rockwood / Flagstaff make some of the best travel trailers with numerous features that other RV manufacturers have as options it's standard equipment with Rockwood/ Flagstaff, like solid surface countertops in their kitchens/frameless windows, bigger 22in ovens, the 2024 models also include an 1800 watt inverter 200 watts of solar plus slam latches on all the compartment doors on every RV, as well as big maxxair fan in bathroom standard and they have many good reviews on KZfaq by actual customers but they're not perfect even though it seems people have less major problems with their RVs overall. Thanks again

I have to put in my experience about my 21 Jayco Melbourne Sprinter. We have put 21000 miles on it and had lots of issues, Jayco is helpful at times and you need to get the correct person to talk too and show the documentation. Most of Jaycos selling dealers CW are horrible. You need to find a good repair facility, or contact Jayco and tell them you want to find a RV Specialist to correct the defects and Jayco can pay direct. The best scenario is set an appointment with Jayco service in Indiana at the factory.

You have to wonder if having a pre purchase inspection from folks like Blue Ox would have discovered a fault/issue before they got the trailer. I'm a firm believer that the dealers just don't find nor want to find little things that might stop the sale. A tiny gap in sealant might have been the entry for water?

Liz, nothing new here. We have two nice gentlemen who did little to no research, did not check online forums, or have an inspection. If they had done this, they would've noted that Jayco has consistently made poor RVs. In fact, Jayco has consistently received less than average grades from many independent agencies. With that said, I know several friends who love their Jayco and have little problems with their RV. I know you want to be a force for good by doing this series, but truly there is little that you can do. As we saw, Jayco would not even speak with you. Jayco is large enough to survive your videos as is Keystone (Montana). I would suggest, perhaps, doing a series where you speak with some premier manufacturers to find out what sets them apart - such as Grech, Tiffin, Winnebago, Fleetwood. Or, speak to those attorney groups who represent litigants in RV lemon law cases. This is information that can help folks make informed decisions. Showing the negative is easy and good for views. Providing resources is a bit more difficult and less exciting. Looking forward to you getting away from this series and back to Rv lifestyle videos.

Hardly inexperienced and after spending $400,000 their luxury RV isnt fit to live in. As another person said, perfectly on a previous KZfaq Liz did...if these were planes falling out of the sky, as some RVs are as much as small prop planes...there would be massive change!! We bought a new 2023 Jayco 29MV RV in June. It has been in and out of the shop since that time with many major issues. Our Microwave, Fridge, Air Conditioner, Generator and Heater have all had repairs made to them. The microwave was falling off the cabinet and the turntable would not spin. It was replaced. The Fridge had a LO DC voltage error because of incorrect wiring and it was fixed. The Air Conditioner would not work when it is hot outside. The master control panel wiring was repaired. The Generator fuel line was routed too close to the truck exhaust which caused a vapor lock and it would not start. They had to reroute the fuel line and add a heat shield. The Heater will not work when it is cold at altitude here in Colorado and they will not fix it. The fresh water tanks are under the coach and not insulated, so the water gets very hot from the road and exhaust. There were also many minor issues, electric step wiring issues, tank sensor wiring issues, switch wiring issues, lights not working, paneling falling off the walls in the kitchen and the bedroom, etc. I am amazed at the lack of quality and the lack of customer service that Jayco has provided. We have had to chase Jayco and the dealer to get every issue diagnosed and repaired. We are at the point of just returning this lemon unit.

Wow, so sorry. If you'd like to be interviewed for an upcoming video, send me an email. Maybe this could spur Jayco and/or the dealership into action. liz@lizamazing.com

Wow. Having same customer service issues with Jayco “customer service” (and local Jayco dealer here in Omaha, NE - Bish’s although I didn’t purchase my unit from them) on my new 2022 Jayco Alante 29s class A motor home (purchased in April 2022) not returning nor responding to multiple emails phone calls about my problems!

Sorry to hear about all your troubles. Now I have three dealerships that I know I won’t buy from Jayco Winnebago Thor hopefully you can get a full refund and go buy something nice and dependable. Good luck guys.

Jayco's failure to contact you as a customer service person to tells me they are overwhelmed with customers with product problems, so much so they can't keep up.

You just need to have Lawyers that are in your group or groups and themselves are RV people ,and see if they can interpret the legal side of the sales contracts and the factory warranty situation,it's most apparent that even being outed on KZfaq is not effective anymore , basically they say nothing ,and then there's nothing to go on ,the old "can't get blood out of stone "thing
