The fact that Mike has to explain James and Mike Mondays blows my mind. Who doesn't realize that its hard to talk to an audience and play a game? Of course the level of play will suffer if you have to think about stuff to talk about the entire time. When I play hard NES games Im lucky to get a word out in my "beat it" episodes.

one of the things I love about avgn the most is he doesn't just show you the game, he tries to bring you back to the time when that game was new. it's not just about the game itself, but the whole experience

Love all these people in the comments talking about how AVGN is "barely hanging on", or lending their expertise on how Mike comes across like a sidekick and James should get him out of Cinemassacre, but when you click on their own channels they get like 4 views per video. Good fucking work, you marks.

I think James should do more stuff like the Castlevania marathon. It was not about him getting angry over a shitty game but more about knowing him as a gamer, what kind of gameplay he likes but also, he talked about the more frustrating aspect of the series, so in general it felt really genuine and memorable as content for the Cinemassacre's channel. I know that Castlevania, is James's Cup of Tea, give the man a glass of Wine and he could probably talk about the serie all night long but there's probably another one that he would like to go deep into and talk about as much.
@MrGickle
@MrGickle 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I rewatched his Castlevania marathon countless times. Although, I believe that one of the problems is that to do such thing it has to be something very nostalgic, special and personal to James, because that was the beauty of the marathon - you can feel how much James loves this series. That being said, I would totally love to see another marathon about, say, Zelda or something. :)

1:10:01 This conversation is a good point of difference between "reality" and "nostalgia" when it comes to console launches. I agree with both points that the must have needs to be there and good launches are very important; but it appears more recently the secondary games are more inferior (in various different ways) than they used to be for launch titles.

On the subject of the budget of Star Trek: Discovery: it has a huge budget, $6-7 million per episode, which is more than double the next most expensive Trek show (Enterprise at $3 million a pop). That's a budget on-par with Game of Thrones Season 4. The show is also already profitable, because the Netflix licensing deal (for everywhere but US/Canada) was equal to the entire production cost of the show. If the show fails, it won't be because of putting it on CBS All Access, and it won't be because of the lack of budget.

I found a streaming channel on justin.tv, where every second video was one AVGN episode, and inbetween came shows like JonTron, Pat, Zero Punctuation and many others. from there on I started subbing them on youtube, and I found others like the Nostalgia Critic and the Cinemasnob (and old and new CA in general) - all these people became and still are a huge part of my daily life and I love them all for their work.
