Moi j'ai été au bled en voiture!! Comme beaucoup de ma génération. Mes parents pouvaient pas payer l'avion pour toute la famille, donc en voiture dans la Renault 25. Départ de Normandie à 5h du matin jusqu'à Saidia au Maroc!! 3000 km trois jours de route en passant par l'Espagne, quelle aventure en famille!! Que de bons souvenirs.

Many people from my generation (90s) who have parents from north Africa was doing all the travel from Paris to Marseille by car, then finish with the boat. I remember every summer i was going to north africa like that. Best memories ever, seeing my familie in north Africa make me realize how lucky we are in France.

4:50 oui j’ai déjà fait le voyage en voiture jusqu’à Marseille, puis en bateau jusqu’à Alger et puis voiture jusque dans le Djurdjura, notre Kabylie chérie. C’était magnifique, 1 mois de vacances où on a vu et fait pleins de sites touristiques dans les montagnes, à la plage , au désert... magnifique. On a vu des singes, des paysages, des ruines.. Et puis connecter avec la famille de ses parents. Spéciale dédicace à ma tante Louisa qui a été super généreuse. Elle se levait très tôt le matin, faisait les gâteaux et le thé/café pour tout le monde... elle n’a jamais pu avoir d’enfants et nous considérait comme ses enfants toujours souriante et drôle!! J’ai rencontré tous mes cousins ... j’avais 18ans et j’avais passé une année difficile au lycée, mais je retournait en enfance en vivant beaucoup de bonheur pendant ces vacances en Algérie chérie, je me suis ressourcée d’amour avant d’attaquer ma rentrée en école de commerce. Vraiment c’est comme ça qu’on développe l’amour de sa double culture et du pays de ses ancêtres.

I went to the village by car !! Like many of my generation. My parents could not afford the plane for the whole family, so by car in the Renault 25. Departure from Normandy at 5 am to Saidia in Morocco !! 3000 km three days of road through Spain, what a family adventure !! That good

Eh Eh khouya, a sister from the South of Morocco here! M'hamed el Gizhlain, Gnawa people, that's mama's people ;) Did you go last year before Rona? Yo they changed those boats man, or they painted those rusty part at least, remember when shit was so rusty and we had to pray real hard to not finish in "Titanic" mode? They added chairs too, no need to bring the blankets anymore, and lay them out on the ground like we are on a damn beach 😂 Spanish crews hated our guts with our Tuna sandwiches that were 3 days old and stunk like hell. Les tupperwear avec les cornes de gazelles ramenés depuis la maison. Même la bouteille d'eau ton père il veut pas la payer au prix fort sur le bateau, il l'a acheté y'a 600 KM elle est brûlante mais tu bois et tu la fermes. Le coca? Le gaz est plus là, avant même d'ouvrir la bouteille. Pas de clim dans la voiture la chaleur pulverise tout même le gaz dans la bouteille il resiste pas. Meilleurs moments de ma vie. Incha Allah bientôt le retour. Prends soin de toi et des tiens. Salam la famille

Before the coronavirus, every year 80% of North African families take the car to reach the North African homeland (Marrocco, Algeria, Tunisia). Hundreds of thousands of North Africans use the southern summer roads to get to the bled. To make Paris Marrocco it takes 3 days and cross Spain to arrive. And to reach Algeria you have to cross the Mediterranean Sea in Marseille by boat. I am Moroccan Amazigh and our tribe already existed long before the birth of Christianity and judaïsm. The roots are important to us 🇲🇦ⵣ

Bro taking the boat from the south of France or Italy or Spain to go to Algeria-Morocco-Tunisia etc was a classic a that time. For the mere reason that a flight cost way to much money and it's even easier to get back from the bled (bled = your country of origin) with some stuff like Olive oil, clothes etc when you travel with a car. I have only good memories of those trips, I was pretty young tho. Shout out to all my maghreb homies and subsaharan african homies. 💌💌💌
