I don't think that's actually what he meant by the extraction menu, I think it was more like this: breaking the block -> collecting it -> using the axe on it within the inventory -> and then the menu would pop up to choose what to do with the block.

Imagine if vanilla Minecraft got Better Than Wolves style wood processing, i.e. splitting logs into components by crafting it with an axe after gathering it, and different axes give you products refined to different qualities.

The vision Notch had for MC back then was so interesting. I'm fascinated by stuff like the old smelting system back in Indev where you had to throw ore into a fire to smelt them into ingots instead of using furnaces. In my opinion, I really like the direction Minecraft could've took with straying away from using menus. With mechanics like crafting in the inventory, and the old fire smelting system, it could really work as a more immersive survival experience for Minecraft. Seeing these things you're doing makes me wonder if your going to make a video on the quiver. I feel like it would've been related to the old survival test arrow mechanic where it was a counter displayed above your hotbar.

i can imagine the right click on a block would open a small transparent menu, and then it would use few buttons/keys to select what item you want, like for wood here it would have 3 items so 3 keys: W, A and D to craft sticks, planks or maybe just strip the log in that order. it would make more sense to leave breaking to left click to break rather than have it be in the quick menu also i suppose it would only be possible in modded mc to have a quick transparent menu

I like it, but not in right-click>extra menu form. If you still broke blocks normally, but could then craft them in your inventory this way, it'd be sick. But then make the inventory only work for single block/item type crafts and you still need the table for more advanced crafts or multi-material crafts.
