A great track day weapon, so of course we take it out on the street just to see how well it does on everyday roads.

The most positive point about this bike is that it’s in fact a Ducati like we remember Ducati and how a Ducati should be, instead all of these smooth Audi’s on two wheels. I understand too well why Ducati makes these smooth operators, but this still reminds of those SS’s, 916’s and 748’s, which I used to dream of 30 years ago and still give a smile on my face!

Thanks for the comment on the low rpm smoothness - one of the things other reviewers rarely mention. Getting a V twin to make that much power from under 1000cc seems to take its toll with a snatchy throttle and a motor not so happy when it doesn't have a stack of revs on board. Probably why the Diavel is 1260cc.

I guess this is the price you pay for having an engine designed to go fast on track - an homologated race bike engine really. The Superquadro makes its torque way up high. Gimme a Testastretta all day long for road riding.

Yea, this bike is like a pedigree race horse. I just let go of the reins a little bit and that's what happens, that was just one of the many times this bike "ran" while I had it. The problem with me owning a bike like this is that I'd lose my license after a little while and believe me, it'd only take a little while with a bike like this. 🙄😊

Nearly every other review ravs about this machine. Could a remap improve its low down street behavior?
@TheMills567
@TheMills567 Жыл бұрын
@@philatkinson1983 That's because nearly every other reviewer is correct. This guy is missing it....bigtime. This bike is a BALL of fun. And more character than the Triumph (To me. Iv'e owned them all). No map needed. It just isn't smooth at low RPM (under 3000). That said, he may just not be a "Ducati" guy. No slam against that. But you either LOVE the bikes or they are merely cool curiosities. Not a gentle commuter, but fun is it's middle name. Yes it is great on the track, but on road it is 100% fun. Now the V4....too much to utilize on the road. Hence, less fun.

I ride a v4 StreetFighter and so far the reviews seem to say choose the v4 over the v2 if you are willing to step up a few extra $$$. I didn't expect to hear that from so many and it really surprises me. I ride my v4 SF in traffic and it's okay. Would I choose it as an urban commuter? No way. But that's not its purpose. It needs a steady diet of rural Twisties, which is why I have it. But I really expected the v2 to be more forgiving than reviewers are finding it to be.

@@richardbrooks4549 maybe they've been buried by now. I haven't ridden the v2, but if it's not a daily rider or commuter, and you don't mind filling the tank every 100 miles, I love my v4. I've got 5k miles on it over a year and it's still like Christmas each time I ride it.

Great, honest review! I’d been pining for a SF V2, thinking it would be a worthwhile upgrade for my SF 848, but reviews like this helped sway me away from it. Doesn’t seem like it’s what I want in a bike and a Guzzi v7 special is now the shiny object drawing my attention.
@NothingToProve
@NothingToProve 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, the V7 is a totally different riding style. Relaxed, chilled ride experience and this is uptight, balls to the walls, ride as fast as you can. Personally, I'd take the V7 over this all day long but I'm no longer a youngling, as I get older I'm starting to apricate the ride and the enjoyment of the ride more and more. And Guzzi gets that in spades. take care, Scott

@@NothingToProve agreed, polar opposite ends of the spectrum, but I was hoping the SF V2 would be an adequate compromise for street riding. Taking the keys to my brother’s Street twin pushed me towards a retro roadster; something to enjoy the freedom and simplicity of 2-wheels. Thanks for the reply and the great review!

@@justinmckeown9029 Test the Speed Twin also, it is a LOVELY bike - bags and bags of endless torque and it handles beautifully (10x better than the Bonevilles which I loathe) - it clearly has a new chassis. The Thruxton RS is also excellent if you want a more spirited geometry than the Speed Twin

Interesting that you ask, the Supersport video will be up tonight 😁 I agree with you, the "lean" forward is just a little too much for me. After a couple of hours it began to bother me, I was still an hour away from bringing it back and all I could think about is getting off this bike and not enjoying the ride...sigh. But if I were 20 years younger (30 something), that would not bother me like it does today. take care, Scott
