an answer to where in Nd ranked and how are they over ranked. The answer is where ever they are ranked is about 3 or 4 spots to high. If they are ranked 5th, they are probably some where are 8 or 9. If they are ranked 8th or 9th they should probably be should be about 12th. They are ALWAYS over ranked. Again, when ask to prove high ranks in bowls, they get smoked. It has been happening for 30+ years. I heard Josh say on Snaps that for the last 15 years he would have them in the 5th to 10th range. While that is WAY more realistic than ND fans and most other media would say, it is still to high. The truth is it is about 8th to 12th. Somehow, Knute Rockne, the four horse men, Rudy, and the Pope seem to get ND 3 or 4 positions in the poll that they don't deserve.. Until they win a major post season game, you and Josh have NO POINT.

Notre Dame is like the Augusta National of college football programs. You always sort of know when you're walking hallowed grounds. Same as Fenway Park, Wrigley Field in baseball, Churchill Downs, Belmont Park in horse racing, right?

ND is my 2nd biggest future behind Ohio St, they avoid Ohio St this year they’ll have the best QB in every reg szn game. They get Louisville & FSU at home wouldn’t be schooled if they’re undefeated going into playoff. Riley’s health is key

As a sixty year old alumnus a lot rides on Riley Leonard and Mike Denbrock. I just don’t see us on the “first rung”, as you say. Historically, a new coach is given about four years of recruiting slack, and then the standards begin to tighten. Even though we won’t be champions for at least a year or two, just winning a playoff game would be huge and silence the idiotic “I hate ND just because” crowd. Having a home playoff game would be huge….South Bend in December and a pass-happy offense do not mix.

Life long notre dame fan here. ND problem is they know they are climbing the latter, but they need to play like they are at the top already, just keeping others off the rungs below. They will win a title eventually, and once that champions culture reignites, look out!

Well I'm a Notre Dame fan and I've been waiting for years I don't believe it every time we play in a big game we get crushed. We couldn't even beat an average Clemson team this year. We went to Michigan a few years back and got beat by about 30. I have no hope for us our coaching staff right now I don't like it all. We need to develop our players better

I think Michigan’s a good comparison. They also couldn’t get over the hump for awhile (could never beat Ohio State), until just a few years ago. Then they added a very good QB and a few other players, and won a national title. Hopefully Leonard will play well this year for the Irish, as having a star QB is definitely one of the pieces to the puzzle for winning a national championship.

Notre dame hasn’t had a competent passer since Jimmy clausen. Ian book was pretty good but he couldn’t win the big game in the 7 years he started. It pisses me off we have such a great qb room right now and we will be wasting another year of development on a transfer qb. There is zero hype for Riley this year because of this. Hoping he can stay healthy and with this insanely talented defense and basically guaranteed to make the playoff with their schedule, we have a chance atleast.

If not for OSU getting sanctions OSU would’ve been 1 and ND would’ve been 2. I think the Irish defense would’ve brought that bcs trophy home.

The only reason they haven't won multiple National Championships in football is because they choose too. The administration made a effort to try and disconnect the school for being known as a football school, which by the way, is the only reason they have everything they have today with the name recognition. As soon as leaders at that school decide they want some Championships, they will make the necessary changes, which is not really selling out, they will. And bammmm, all of a sudden they will win one. Its coming, new Athletics Director has already spoken to wanting to win and not compete for one.

This is an excellent analysis. Everyone involved in the success has to be “all-in”. Nick Saban at Alabama was king of the mountain, and there was no doubt about it.

As a 47 year ND FOOTBALL FANATICAL FANATIC this won’t be the year despite the softer than normal schedule this year. QB will be an issue because of health but every other position group despite EDGE are very very good with RB being elite and corner play being a step below elite! New OC DENBROCK will be BRINGING IT!! Unfortunately I see 10-2 but 2025 …. It’s TIME!! FREEMAN IS COMING

ND has the best secondary in the country. You can't get any more elite than that. And don't count out Bryce Young at DE. He is apparently raising some serious eyebrows in practice. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.

It's not about the quarterback you can put any quarterback is this office and on this team and he will still win 15 is athletic and too damn good from the skill players to the deepest Toulouse to any team on this schedule it's not about the quarterback he just got to be average and not turn the ball over this tea is talented

The only position group that concerns me is OL. The defense is going to be elite. QB and RB are solid, and the WR group is stepping it up. If the OL can gel and get up to ND standards, there is no reason why ND can't win a Natty.

I'm a Notre Dame fan and I'm tired of them losing all the time to top the line teams. We could not even be Clemson last year and they were average. And a few years back we went to Michigan and got beat by 30. I'm sick and tired of us not being in a conference. We play a week schedule every year also. If we played in the SEC the Big ten we'd always have four losses That's why we don't want to join a conference that's any good. Can you imagine if we play in the Big ten and we had to play Michigan and Ohio State and Oregon and USC every year . Come on let's get for real

The main thing ND needs is a lowering of academic standards. There are a a lot of guys they can't recruit cause they can't get in the school. I think that without 1. Joining a conference and 2. Lowering academic standards, no they can't win an NC.

Love Josh, but I did not even have to watch this to know ND's fan base mood - DELUSIONAL. They still think this is still the 80's and ND is the dominate program. ND is what UGA was under Richt - a good solid program, a program somewhere between 8 and 12 in the country - and a program NOT truly in the NC hunt. Of course, UGA was properly ranked and talked about by the media. ND - not so much! I offer as proof 30+ tears of major bowl game. Ever time ND is asked to prove their high rank they get blown out (avg margin of LOSS 17+). FACTS!!!!!! Go DAWGS!!

@@jefferyparker4277 They were ranked 13th to start the season last year. They ended up 14th. So that means they were overrated? They usually end up ranked higher than where they started the season, so your comment is nothing more than predetermined jealous hate.

As I said, where ever ND is ranked is to high. History and the Pope should have nothing to do with current polls, but, where ND is involved, they do. One more time, you have no point until ND wins at least 1 play-off game. AT LEAST 1!! Hell, at this point, I will take just keeping one competitive ( ND avg major bowl loss over the last 30 years 17+).

To follow the rung of the ladder it’s a money in the bank match and the Notre dame offense has kicked it out from them several times. Denbrock may change that.
