Our work cat (rest in peace, had to put her down last year) was a sweetie but she was _ruthless_ towards mice. Coming into work one day was lile a scene from Predator. Organs, heads, half a body with its skin missing. She regularly had worms.

People ignore very easily that "domestic" cats (felis catus) still share most of both genetic structure and features as feral cats and other felines, they're basically feral beings that aren't that aggressive to humans and can coexist with them but that wild aspect of them is always there.

Growing up we had a cat that spent the 1st month or so of her life as a stray. She would go out into the woods (we lived in a forest) and hunt for days at a time. She would also leave "gifts;" half eaten kills. I learned later that cats see their modern owners as failed hunters, so the message was: "I don't want you guys to starve, so here's some food for you."

My cat is fat, and sometime he steals neighbors' juvenile chicken. 😂😂😂

Had a stray adopted. Mofo never ate anything other than that bulk dry food. We tested almost every brand. Nah, let me consume the cheapest driest low quality food ever! He absolutely loved salty pastries however. Weird ass cat.

Once I kicked something under the table at home. I believe it was a birds foot/leg, since my cat (she was the only one of her siblings who did this) had just left some feathers around the house, and it looked vaguely twig-like. It got vacuumed up so I never confirmed, but I also never found a bird so it probably wasn't that big. In comparison my dad's current cats are probably the worse bird hunters in existence. They get very enthused watching them and can sneak into positions to watch them better, but when trying to get any closer they're not exactly quiet. I've told my dad he probably doesn't even need to worry about spooking the birds first because his cats are so loud they'll do it themselves.

To be fair, we eat dead birds all the time. Might go buy some chicken tenders later. Also wasn't there a study on diets for cats comparing raw meat versus cooked meat and showcasing generational degradation when eating cooked meat? Maybe Theo's just craving some raw meat. Well, it's not an issue if your cat is spayed so, as long as he doesn't get sick.

Dogs are worse. My dogs regularly commute between mine and my mothers house, we often buy the same food and split it on big bags. My dogs won't eat it if its at my house, but my god if they come across it at my Mom's _they'll chow down on that crap like its the best thing they ever ate_ But at least they'll be happy no matter what and won't give you an attitude.

Don't let their size fool you. At the end of the day, cats are still predators. That dead bird may have just been alive and the cat mauled it, taking it home as a prize or a souvenir.
