I love that he said "The Spirit bears witness to the speaker and listener alike." (minute 8:07 to 8:12). I have experienced that this is true many times.

Anyone who has ever served as a bishop knows it isn't the man himself, but the Lord doing the work. Likewise, the bishop doesn't carry the mantle, though the keys are bestowed, but rather the mantle carries the bishop.

I am glad I found this talk, though I wish I’d found it sooner. It lets me know I did the right thing when my friend found out my beliefs do not align with hers and she has passive-aggressively attacked our church (via texts to me). I feel much less sad now. EDIT: seriously, having to declare what you believe strengthens your testimony sometimes.

Had a familiar experience like this actually. I was always scared to share the gospel. However, in college, that's when I did something I thought I'd never be able to do. I found myself with people who always drove the spirit away, because of their behaviour and foul/blasphemous language. I never spoke up about who I was, because I was still afraid. One of those moments when I was with one of them, immediately my mood changed after the disrespectful remarks they said towards Christ. After that experience, I happened to talk with them again, they apologised, and I followed after for keeping my religion a secret and for not telling them earlier on, especially when before that, Heavenly Father told me to 'never be afraid of sharing the gospel'. Immediately after that experience, I happened to come across other people too, 3 were catholic, 1 with a spark of interest to the church, after I told them who I was, and when I read the Book Of Mormon. Took 1 of my other friends to the temple, and I didn't know that their father went there once. He said it was peaceful and amazing. Nearly to the end of college, I told them everything to do with the church, and they said it made sense to them. I was immediately filled with joy, sharing the gospel to them. It felt as though it was the best day ever. Although, college is over now and some of them I won't be hearing from again. I'm deeply saddened that I should've listened to my heavenly father's council, and if it wasn't for that experience, I wouldn't have been able to find them, I would've remained in my comfort zone and stayed the way I was. I bare my testimony that Jesus lives, heavenly father lives and I know this because of the experiences I've had in my life. I am grateful to be part of this church, and looking forward to be serving the lord, to help gather Israel. No doubt brothers and sisters. I know Jesus lives. I can feel it. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. :)

Did he consecrate his wealth to the “kingdom of God” ? Does he receive salary and benefits from the church?
@traczebabe
@traczebabe Жыл бұрын
Yes he does! He gave up his career to become a full time disciple of Jesus Christ. He might get a very small amount of money. It’s not near what he made in his job. He works 24/7 as a disciple of Christ. Would you do that? Everyone of us who are members consecrate our lives to the Savior. We willingly give 10% of our income. And once a month pay the amount of two meals ( we fast for 24 hours) that would normally go to feed our family so families in the area who need help can get it. Last year the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints gave 60 billion dollars to help those who go through hurricanes, or are living in poverty, or whatever is thrown at them. Everywhere in the world. I wouldn’t concern myself with what he does or what he makes. Concern yourself with your relationship with Christ.

As someone Who was socially pressured into sustaining the men who attempted to have my compliance and entire life devotion, I disagree with this 🤢🤮
@traczebabe
@traczebabe Жыл бұрын
You didn’t listen to the video. What you said has nothing to do with the talk. You wanted to make a comment to show your victim hood. The social pressure, I think came from within yourself. You were putting your assumptions on others. The only person asking for your entire life’s devotion is Christ. I understand your side completely. I blamed the church for my bad decisions, for a time. You place the blame/anger on the gospel because you were warned through it not to make the decisions you did. Then you get defensive. I hope you realize where your POV is coming from. I hope you overcome it. I wouldn’t go back to the misery of believing I knew I was right. I was fooling myself.

"Social pressure"? No on on earth values or respects your right to choose in greater measure than these men who are genuine disciples of Jesus Christ. They have a responsibility to teach truth. You are free to accept or reject. We each have within us a conscience that will lead us towards truth and our Father who sent us here. When we chaffe against that conscience we feel something. Your feelings of discomfort are derived from that chaffing, not from those teaching as they are required to do.

Hi Sarah, God loves you very much, and I love you! We shouldn't feel pressured. It's a matter of showing love for, and devotion to God, and in his Son Jesus Christ. It's by doing simple acts of love, and kindness towards those around us often, and sharing our love for God in our words at times. God wants you to be a part of his church, because he knows we need your help, and your unique gifts and talents, to help bless mankind.
