@@AnExecutor yeah but they don't have to present these sorts of choices if they have no impact on the story. Also it's a misconception that RPG implicitly implies complex storytelling. Lots of story-bare RPGs out there (e.g. Diablo and Pokemon). And Telltale games are adventure games, not RPGs.

If you choose to help nova, tosh appears to be a bad guy that will want to kill you. If you help tosh, he appears to be a good guy, who, if you speak him regularly after the choice mission, actually gives Jim some decent advice.

yup, no difference. at least in a game like mass effect 3, where choices don't change the final outcomes, you do still decide the fate of races throughout the games story, and if for some reason you manage to take the time and effort to play through mass effect 1 and 2 before playing 3, you have a chance to save every race and have them join you. If they at least let someone else capture jim, it woulda made things nicer, like having him get surrounded by dominion troops or something.

Thoranzalar Vhazen agreed in full I just wish the same could be said for the Colonists vs the Protoss choice, either way, you lose the Doc, and there’s no reason to think that they’ll be okay and the infestation won’t come back even if you chose to side with the Doc Though I will give credit where credit is due for this one, in the final cutscene between the Doc and Jim, we see that Jim isn’t completely clueless and only doesn’t pursue the Doc’s advances, because he’s still holding a torch for Sarah. And we see a mirror of this in the alternate cutscene when siding with the Protoss, yet another dame who Jim lost to the Zerg Now THAT’s gotta sting

Oh yeah, lets just forget that busting New Folsom releases thousands upon thousands of free-thinkers, teachers, proffesors and everybody else who said a word against Mengsk. This is the true reason of that choice being good. You give freedom to people (and a few criminals who are more than happy to help). Not some side dialogue (which is nice).

The only reason to get Ghosts is to mass-snipe Kerrigan during all-in

I prefer Ghosts. Their snipe abilities is what shutdowns player vs player match ups. They just snipes Ults and top tier units.

3 years late but I don't really see that being a good excuse tbh. Blizzard could simply use another character to capture Raynor instead of Nova. They could just explain it like this: If Raynor sided with Tosh, then Nova capture Raynor. If Raynor sided with Nova, Mengsk knows best not to send Nova to get Raynor, because of how cautious Mengsk is, he would not risk a chance of letting Raynor slip out of his hand by sending someone that is in debt to Raynor, and instead simply sent another strong Ghost instead.

Did you forget Raynor and Kerrigan plowing through a bunch of mobs? So who else would be qualified? They are not gonna just simply introduce a new character from the Dominion, just like that. What other strong ghost do they even have? They've already established that Nova is the only one who ever came somewhat close enough to Kerrigan's level. And those bunch of other ghosts like Stone and gang from Nova's DLC were never much of a factor until her DLC. Even then they were just NPC plebs (despite Stone being a "boss" enemy). Theodore? Pft. Stone? Meh. And we can just forget about Delta. Who else would even be qualified to take in/eliminate Kerrigan? After all, that's why Nova was there in the first place, to take down Kerrigan as her first priority. Raynor was just a backup plan. After all, Kerrigan was more of a threat to Mengsk than Raynor could ever be. As Mengsk said before, Raynor is just some unscrupulous outlaw and came out of some gutter that his son found him in. Why do you think he kept Raynor alive, despite him having the Keystone to take down Kerrigan??? And even with your argument stance, that would still require GOOD WRITING SKILLS, dum dum. So it still proves my point that they should've thought this ahead. Even if they said in WOL, that Nova will never join you, still they should've made it so that your choices have actual consequences including benefits. So your argument actually proven MY point that they only then realized they needed to have Raynor captured in order to give Kerrigan just cause to revert back to the Queen of Blades. They only thought of that AFTER the fact of WOL. And most likely they realized how much of a pain the whole choice making thing would have effect on their storytelling, therefore they did not bother to take the Bethesda/Mass Effect philosophy. Why do you think your choices in terms of choosing either Protoss vs Dr Hanson or the Nydus Tunnels vs Flier platform have no consequences whatsoever beyond a very teeny tinny little dialogue mention? It has absolutely little to no effect on the gameplay aspect of HotS. Hell, it has no bearing at all on LotV, none whatsoever, not even a slight dialogue mention at that point. In HotS, if you picked Tosh, it only affects Nova's dialogue a little bit and he makes a slight cameo in a cutscene before the Raynor's prison breakout mission. But what happens to Tosh after that, hmm? He doesn't EVER show up EVER AGAIN. He doesn't show up in HotS's final raid against Mengsk. Hell, he doesn't even show up in the fight for the universe in LotV. So much for bros before hoes, hmm? They rendered your choices pointless and useless in the grand scheme of things. Ergo, they shouldn't have even bothered giving you any story path choices at all, if they were just gonna pull a Mass Effect 3 ending mentality! What was the whole fucking point??? Why do you think many authors/creators have forgone the whole "Choose your own adventure" style mentality in various medias? Because it's too much work for little payouts. Companies just care about producing bare minimum while earning more for the bottom line. So clearly, Blizz realized they bit off more than they could chew with the whole choices shit. Not to mention, not only Americans but even Japanese creators have realized that if they want to tell the story THEIR WAY, they would have to screw over whatever choices they have given the players to make, if any. Hence, why many studios tend to fuck you over on your choices because it would undermine THEIR story. It's THEIR STORY, not yours, not mine, not ours. THEIRS. I mean, why else do you think your choice on whether or not to watch Zeratul's memory device in proving "Kerrigan must live" has no ultimate bearing on keeping Kerrigan alive at the end? It was of no consequence. That's poor storytelling and gameplay mechanics. In the end, Blizzard have shown their ineptness. What did you expect from the same people who brought you Battle for Azeroth (I heard people had problems with that lore) or Diablo 3? I tried to get the other cutscene in-game because I had a hunch Nova wouldn't let you go. But for some reason, my HOTS mission glitched and gave me the help Tosh version again. But yes, Tosh and spectres ftw!

If I recall they really doubled down on Terrazine being really bad for the whole "sanity" thing. Considering ghosts are highly trained assassins, a group of them going crazy and trying to kill whoever doesn't sound great.

I am hoping to get Niadra too. She is another very cool character in SC2 but yeah. Having Tosh in coop would bring in more folk for awhile. Menks is dog shit

@@thetheory6159 Nope, you can get to Char fine without doing any rebelquest. No trainrobbery, no Odin for Tychus, and no Mira for Horner. Tough the game always consider you've done them.

Honestly, as far as Ariel goes, I don't think it makes much of a difference. Selendis still respects Raynor if you decide to protect Haven, and she hopes that his choice is vindicated. Though I'm pretty sure it wasn't brought up at all in LotV.

I think the Tosh choice dialogue happens, since, at least from what i remember, choosing Tosh is canon.

Unfortunately the Doctor was the real liar in that case, Spectres really are dead men walking - with a hefty side of severe drug-induced madness. No Terrazine? No sanity.
