The thing is a lot of these gen X guys grew up watching, Federer smash their 90s heroes consistently and completely like Sampras, Aggasi etc. That generation of tennis watchers have a soft spot for Federer. But make no mistake, Federer was perhaps the most aggressive and flamboyant player, during 2002-2007 and coupled with his soft spoken manner, the contrast was there for all to see. He was the God of tennis. The future. Then came Nadal, and they celebrated him too. But then came another, the djoker, the goat and like the saying goes two’s company, three’s a crowd, most people just could’t digest a third maestro. It’s too much, for most people. However as a Djoko fan from the beginning, I couldn’t be more happy for Djoko maxing it out in stats and proving once and for all, that indeed he is the goat 🐐. He’s having the last laugh! It makes the fan base delighted too. And he’s got a few years left in him, how good is that! But I wouldn’t say Federer wasn’t just as good if not better in many aspects of the game than Djokovic or how tenacious and powerful Nadal was in his prime. The 3 need to be celebrated together! And since this is a Federer video, you cannot tell convince me otherwise of this fact, that Federer dispatches his opponents in the most disrespectful, utterly demolishing manner when he gets a lock on in the game. As they say, the most aggressive player in history! Just watch Djoko vs Fritz in US Open for instance, how Fritz was demolished. During, his prime that was what happened to all of Federer’s opponents…he is a living legend too.

Jesus, why do novak fans always have to make things personal?? When the crowd happens to like Federer more its "the crowd hates novak", when the ref. punishes novak for throwing his racket its "The referee hates novak", when the commentator even critisizes Federer they say "he does not appreciate Novak". So toxic!

@@seeyouchump I, for one, am not complaining about the crowd or commentators. Everyone's allowed to have their preferences. I've always enjoyed the fact that the crowds adored stoic face Federer...it made it so much more delicious to watch Djokovic play the spoiler, especially at Wimbledon. I don't mind Novak's temper and racket smashing. It just means he's passionate about tennis and is very hard on himself when he makes mistakes. The tennis elites want their sport viewed as regal and civilized...well, too effin' bad...sometimes it gets a little intense.

and he's been lucky too. Fact: US Open SF Fed serving 40-15 for the match Novak returns the ball with his eyes closed (he even admits it) and hits the baseline...and at Wimbledon 2019 final at 40-15 serving for the match Fed hit the tape on his first serve..one inch higher it would of been an ace and Fed wins. Those 2 points was luck not Novak being great under pressure. Also, for those 2 lucky scenarios...Fed and Novak would both have 22 majors each with Nadal 22. This is why it's such a fine line amongst the 3 greats...a point here and there..and stats could/would be different...thus why all 3 deserve to be crowned GOAT for specific /certain reasons.

Most of those GS matches Novak won over Fed were when Fed was in his mid to late 30s and Novak was in his prime just before 30s. Their h2h of 50 matches is practically even. Their entire career cannot be compared as apples to apples as McEnroe stated cause they played in different eras. Because when one was in his prime the other was very young or very old. They never were both in their prime at the same time. However, most tennis experts, as well as, Novak feel Fed is the greatest complete talent of all time. If both guys were the same age in their prime, 100% healthy, playing their A+ game, Fed would beat Novak more often. That's comparing apples with apples. Novak has just won 7 of his last 13 majors played in and Fed only participated in 2 of those 13 majors. That's big time cashing in on Fed's absence, old age, surgeries, retirement.

@@alfonsonapoletano4522 Federer fans are simply stupid and ignorant beyond belief lol How in hell do you come up with the conclusion that when they are both same age, same whatever, Federer would beat Djokovic more often? Cashing in one Federer's absence and old age? What about loser Federer taking advantage of Djokovic's young age, asthma, and absence before 2011? Talent doesn't mean shit when you can't turn it into results. The differentials between Djokovic and Federer (4 slams, 85 weeks at #1) are larger than Murray's whole career (3 slams, 41 weeks at #1). Federer is not only inferior to Djokovic. He's not even a player on the same level as Djokovic. But then again, nobody has ever been. Just accept Federer's loser status and cry into your pillow.

The commentators are biased in favor of Federer. It makes the match not engaging to watch. Probably, I'm going to do my own commentary since I like seeing great shots from both players. Djokovic is my favorite player, but I will give credit to Federer's great shots. Andre Agassi is my true No. 1 favorite player and Djokovic comes second since Agassi is the reason why I want to play tennis, and that's in the mid-2000's when I started playing tennis in high school. I remembered AO YT channel made highlights that is very biased in favor of Federer. I laughed at the callout comments where AO YT made it look like Federer was winning with highlights, but a lot of great shots by Djokovic are largely ignored, and these are great shots led to many Federer forced errors, so technically, they are not winners. Maybe one day, I will become a tennis commentator. Unfortunately, the tennis heads and the establishment already have this spot. I'm just doing it at my leisure time. I had friends called me the Marv Albert of sport commentating in basketball when I make the commentary of recording basketball games with friends, and I played basketball for fun with them since my college days, and it happened in different instances in undergrad and grad school with a different group of friends. It sucks to see the biased commentary that sometimes, I just want to mute it and make my own commentary. Djokovic literally wins matches even with not hitting many winners. Just hitting those great shots and forcing Federer to miss-hit is also a sight to behold. Federer's shanks are very ugly for someone who has elegance in his game. Federer can hit many winners, and he still loses matches like the 2019 Wimbledon Final epic.

26:11 the moment Federer lost the 1st set when he missed this short forehand Yes he was up 4-1 but he let Djoker off the hook at this crucial moment when Federer really needed to keep applying the pressure. Djoker had been broken in his first 2 service games, he was battling to finally hold serve in his 3rd service game here. Djoker grew in confidence after he held for 2-4 and played better as the match went on (especially the 1st set tiebreak when Djoker went into lockdown mode and we all know how that goes, demolished Federer 7-1 there)

Good job to nole All I can say is roger lost to the most human thing of all, the age. Roger cant control his muscles like he used to. He cant curl the ball enough to get it back in the line or get enough spin over the net. His clean stroke was there after 2017 but age gets him.

Amazing for how often these two played, Roger seemingly has no idea when to attack and when to defend. How many useless errors does he make at critical moments late in the first set? On shots that even if they go in, so what....wont do any damage. Pretty basic...if you can't outrally your opponent, you better be able to hit them off the court. Going for broke on every point is a losing strategy overall. But at least if Roger tried that, the days he was on, might sneak a win in here and there against Novak. This halfway aggressive, halway passive, uncertain stratgey had no prayer against Djokovic.

In terms of his footwork, this version of him is 50% Roger..He's clearly carrying his knee by this time in his career..but won't let it be known, not a grimace, nothing! a Roger is given no excuses- 28:24, commentators muse.. But right from the second game itself, one can see the gingerly sideways movement by Roger, as if to protect that knee..explains the ill-timed net approaches and unforced errors as he tried to close points early. This is Roger way-past-his-prime facing Novak as-usual, not even a contest. Becomes more and more evident as the match goes on.
