Not a Big 3 fan so I can say this as a neutral, Djokovic was there for the taking in this match, unfortunately Federer's break point conversion was 4/23. The crowd were obnoxious and appalling in this match, glad to see them all stunned in silence as Djokovic held up the trophy in the end, it's one thing to support one player but to behave like drunken hooligans towards the other player is uncalled for

It's because Djokovic's playstyle is not something you show in the highlights. He is the GOAT, but there are barely any points you can put in such video from him. The greatest, but also super boring.

One of the many big matches of his career that Fed should have won. Played very poorly strategically. You don't go all-out attack vs Djoker on a slower court. Also, Djoker played awesome, his plays in neutralizing the SABR in particular were pure genius

Exactly, as he's hardly beating Djo from the baseline in this period. This was the match where it became so obvious to me that Fed was a tad slower moving to his FH side. Outcome of BO5 matches v Djo were inevitable, for the most part. Anyway, too many squandered chances in this one. 4/23 on BPs gotta be his own personal record. Or maybe 1/17 is worse.

Impatience of Federer, rushing to the net and mental barrier are reasons he lost big matches, like those 40-15 are ridiculous. If he fixed those things, no matter how stable Novak or Rafa are from the baseline, his records would of stayed, at least in his generation of playing, cause he has better game than both, not that he is the better player. He improved his playing against Nadal later on though...
@Yoruez1v9

Yeah he’s also 5-6 years older than Nadal and Novak, so stamina is definitely playing a part there too. He can make more powerful shots if he were younger and won more decisive points from that

No he’s not, Federer is greater than Nadal. Nadal only has more masters than Federer because there isn’t a single masters 1000 on grass. Had Halle been a masters 1000 then Fed would have more masters than Nadal. Also, Nadal stat padded on clay and has relied heavily on clay since 2013. Nadal only won the US Open in 2019 outside of clay since 2013. Federer is the only one to have won 5 slams at 3/4 slams clearly showing how Federer is more complete and surface versatile than Nadal. Djokovic is the goat though you are correct, but Federer is definitely the second greatest, go watch Goatkovic’s video on it.

Why always try to argue or create controversy about toilet break only with Djokovic? As if not everyone else did the same thing... When a Federer also took MTO against Millman, Sandgren, Monfils, Nadal etc...radio silence or he leaves the court while his opponent has the momemtum (Nishikori, Wawrinka, Murray, Del Potro, Cilic...), Federer fans never whimpered or accused him of doping or breaking the rhythm. Same story with Nadal and his fans What a hypocritical double standard...

If Novak had called in the physio after conceding the break in the ultimate 5th set as Federer did against Nadal in their encounter at the 2017 Australian Open (6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 2-1 to Nadal's advantage), Federer lovers as you would have blamed Djokovic of cheating. But with your sweetheart you close of course yours eyes and mouth⁉️ What a miserable double standard Wawrinka won 2 sets in a row, the 3rd and 4th sets during their encounter at the Australian Open semifinal 2017 (7-5, 6-3,1-6, 4-6,6-3). He had the momentum. What did Federer do? He took a long medical time-out and went to the locker room. Stan waited 8 minutes on the court. Djokovic haters like you shut their hypocrite mouth⁉️ Medical time-out (which took 9 minutes) in the middle of the 3rd set while Federer was down 6-3 2-6 0-3 to Sandgren.... Djokovic haters like you shut always their mouth⁉️ 2 sets down to Julien Benneteau at Wimbledon 2012. What did Federer do? He went to the locker room. Djokovic haters like you shut their mouth⁉️ 2 sets down to Tommy Haas at Roland Garros 2009. What did Federer do? He went to the locker room. Djokovic haters like you shut their mouth.⁉️
