I haaaaaaaaaate listening to Rob Jones's tutorial voice. He knows what he's talking about, but puts me right to sleep. The ultranova is real nice, though. I just picked up a used one on ebay for $400, and I'm happy I did. I'm a little curious why Looptv just decided to do a review of a synth that came out two years ago, but I'm glad it's getting some love.

I adquire an Ultranova and I am in love with this Synth, is very powerful, big keys for me is a plus because the Mininova has small ones but they share the same engine. The Ultranova have an audio interface and keyboard aftertouch.

I will stay away from anything with minikeys.

The greatest drawback in my opinion would be the need for going through menus to tweek sounds, instead of having more knobs.

Just received mine, it's awesome dont try to speak about polyphony or anything else if you didnt touch it... With computer or sampler it does great.

There is no function on the synth itself to go back to factory banks, but if you use the editor from inside a DAW you can dump the 4 factory banks over through USB to go back to their factory state.

I fell in love w/ the sound of this synth so I bought one with a Focusrite 2i4 and a Zoom MS-70CDR. Now that I have them in my dining room, I can't figure out how to connect them and configure the lap-top to hear and remember anything. I am not computer illiterate, but . . . Help! what to do, what to do . . .

I am so thankful for this video! @7:47 I hear you say when you hold down a note you can touch the knobs but you were using both hands to touch so how was the note being held down to make the sound?

Lol dude this was my only question during the whole video, I'm glad someone else caught that. My only guess is he was using the "latch" feature to have the not continuously play while he was modulating with the knobs

Hello, I bought a new Ultranova machine. By Cubase I downloaded Ultran's editor and when I plug Ultran into the pc everything works as it is, but only from the plug-in Ultran editor does not sound.Ultranova can midi control everything else but I can not hear the sound from UltranovaEditor. Is it possible to do something about it?

You have to have your DAW in record mode then you should hear it with the editor open.

I have downloaded automap, library and aditor, but once installed i cannot see editor plug in on Ableton live, any advice?

This synth has awesome options like a supersaw osc. The only thing i don't like are the voices only 18 -.- if i had more than it was the perfect shynt for its price. btw i use a ks5 and a good friend of mine have one ultranova. tha iditor is awesome really and the layout of the synth is easy. If i have to chose between a supernova 2 or a ultranova i would go for the supernova 2

Can the vocoder mic be used for recording vocals direct to the daw?

*I think so, because the Synthesizer has an 2 In/4 Out-USB-Audiointerface, so you can record all Sounds (Vocoder too) of the Synth with your DAW ;)* *My Tip: Its nice if you have an iPad and Cubasis, or others iPad-DAWs like Auria Pro, the best Combination with this Synth ;)* *And the best Part is, you can send the recorded Track back to the Synthesizer and mix it with other Synthsounds ;)*

Looks more like a synth / keyboard hybrid than a real synthesizer.

Coming back here, my impression is that this instrument is way too messy. Less so if you spend a large amount of time learning the menus back and forth. If this is your only instrument for many years, it could be worth it.
