I really miss D1 year 1, we knew so little about exotics that it was crazy when one of your friends got this new crazy weapon none of you had ever seen yet. Good times.

While I miss this rarity in D1 im kinda torn about if it should be implemented In D2. Aside from the fact Exotics now days are so easy to get, I’m thinking that when I was a teen playing D1 I had all the time in the world to run VOG but now, as an adult, I barely have time to get a team together. Bruh this entire video was just a massive wave of nostalgia for me. I’ve been playing since it initially released and out of all the weapons you listed, I only failed to get the queen weapons (I got grounded and couldn’t grind for them). I also remember the og felwingers lie with shot package and efrideet’s spear with that final round perk which allowed it to one shot body. Watching your video really took me back and I really miss these days. D2 is a great game and I’ve been loving the story but there’s just something about the loot in d1 that felt so much better to acquire. Thanks for the video it really takes me back and put a smile on my face. Also, at 6:40, I miss these self res battles lol.

I love that in destiny 1 even in old gameplay you can tell that we felt powerful without being so over top broken that bosses had to be built around us

I remember getting ghally and necrochasm. For ghally, I had finished a nightfall and and got the usual ascendant energy/shards. Dissapointed, I tried my luck at the exotic chest for crotas end since it was during the first encounter. Luck smiled on me as I got ghally from the chest. Who needs nightfalls anyway? As for crux, it dropped on my third hard mode run along with monte carlo (an exotic I did not have yet)

Don't forget, the husk of the pitt was bugged after the house of wolves dlc drop and wasn't fix until Y3. If you are wondering what the bug was, it was basically extreme low drop rates and you can only get it from that one mission.

I will never EVER forget when my Gally dropped in a random crucible game. I loved that it was insanely rare but in the global loot pool so anyone could get it at any moment. It made the loot hunt so exciting

My Gally story is pretty unique. I got into the game with The Taken King but for some reason I was obsessed with collecting the old year one loot. It was during a two man of Crota's End just for fun, before they brought it back, and I got it from the exotic chest. My raid mate literally left the raid and we never did finish. I loved the hell out of it for rerunning Skolas and Crota for those sweet shaders until it was brought back

Ok so the year is 2014-2015 i don't exactly remember. I'm going through the nightfall with my friends and it's Omnigul. Right before we kill her my mom yells at me to come have lunch. I tell my friends that I'm hopping off but that i'll be back really quickly, and told them to let me know if I got any good loot from the strike. So I start inhaling my food like I'm Matt Stonie off 4 percs, much to my moms dismay; and hop back on the game. I remember perfectly that I said: "Yo i'm back what'd I get," instantly my friends start screaming: "YOU GOT PATIENCE AND TIME YOU GOT PATIENCE AND TIME." I start going crazy cuz I really wanted that exotic. However, I had also gotten a legendary heavy engram, which I didn't exactly care about given the fact that I had just gotten the Patience and Time. So we fly back to the tower in good spirits, and dragging some hard earned loot. As I'm going through my vault to make room for my new Patience and Time, I remember that I have that legendary engram. So I take my little 5th grade ass to Rahul, to decrypt that shit. I hit A on my Xbox controller and boom... Gjallarhorn. I died that day. My 10 year old mind couldn't take the levels of insanity and rarity. I scream at the top of my lungs: "GJALLARHORN!!!,." My friends think I'm trolling at first but then they realize i'm not joking. We all go crazy for 10 minutes straight. That remains the luckiest I have ever been. Destiny 1 was my game man, I loved that shit.

I also got my first Gjallarhorn from Atheon! It was on Christmas day 2014 so it was the perfect present! As for the Queen's Wrath, I still regret dismantling all my weapons, at least I still have the chest & mask for my hunter :') & The Messenger was my go to rifle for so long!! I'd always use it to counter the thorn back in the day aha, to this day I still use it in PvP whenever I log on & play, it's just so smooth. Man, I really miss 2014/2015 when everything was so new..

i've been trying really hard to get back into d2 lately, but seeing videos like this reminds me why i don't feel the same love i did in d1. that game was just so DIFFERENT!!! seeing that queens wrath event took me back to a time i wish i never left

I remember having a Coiled Hiss 1919 pulse rifle during the Crota DLC with full auto perk and a really high stability stat; this was back when pulse rifles weren't particularly good with the lowest DPS of the primary weapons. I wished I could have saw what it was capable of in a post-pulse rifle buff environment.

When gally was being sold second time round I was missing a few strange coins and I was so mad about it. So my friends took me though my first nightfall where I actually wanted the strange coin reward. Didn't get the strange coins, but I did get ice breaker, so I consider it a complete success nonetheless

I'm so happy I can say I have most of the weapons on this list. I remember my friends having a cult like ritual to try and get the Crux which I never cared about but I was the first of my friend group to get it and subsequently the nechrochasm. I was also so proud of my praetorian foil i would grind vogs any and every time I could for a chance at one. I don't regret it at all

I'm proud to say I have them all. The supremacy I almost didn't have as it was the very last bounty that dropped it for me

I love D1 faction vendors they all had some really nice weapons and legendary gear to be bought if you soo choose, and the perks gets randomly rolled on them every week. Faction vendors actually had a purpose back then.

I remember getting the ghorn from the Omnigul nightfall with my friends. It was my 5th exotic at the time and I was like “huh, that’s cool” and dropped it into my vault. Turns out it was the key to getting into any raid team I wanted, including skolas on opening week.

I feel you on Prateorian Foil, only weapon I didn't get from VoG and I had 4 Vex's at that time. Didn't get my first Ghally until right at the end of House of Wolves, like a day or two before Taken King came out. I remember getting some of the Queens Wrath weapons, Supremacy and Her promise specifically, and also the y1 trails messenger and Scholar adept

Great video and topic! I started Destiny during TTK so anytime I could get Year 1 weapons was special. I think my first exotic drop was Suros. I'm still working on the last step of the Nechrocasm quest haha. Looking forward to the most rare ships!

I remember so long back when I got my first and only flawless card in Destiny and I ended up getting that exotic emblem and a jewel of Osiris. I'm gonna go back later today and see if I still have some of this stuff

I've been playing since the release as a Warlock and I was there for Xur to sell the Gjallarhorn on the 2nd week. So I was at the tower with my Titan and Hunter friends and they both picked their relevent exotic armor pieces, I wasn't really taken by the Sunbreakers, so I spent my strange coins on the only reasonable choice, not long after I had realised what an absolute powerhouse that this rocket launcher was and so did the community! From now to this day (to my Fireteams annoyance) the Gjallarhorn has been my most common Exotic drop with me acquiring it of stupid number of 26 times!

Man, the TWPKY was my favorite gun, forgot one of the perks but it had crowd control with it, would use it for every activity all the time. Only got the one, but the one i ever needed. Never had a gun so special since, a relic of a simpler times.

my favorite was definitely B-line trauma from the crucible vendor. i had snagged one with outlaw and firefly and the description was even better "take one to the forehead, and call me in the morning"

My ghorn story has two parts, when I got it and then sometime at the end of year 2. I got my ghorn from a devils lair nightfall I was doing with a friend sometime in house of wolves. Now for the second part, I was doing year 1 PoE for fun and to use ghorn again for the first time in a long time. I got an Xbox message saying “nice rocket launcher”. One of the randoms I was playing with, they had never seen it before. Added them and we played a bit, next day I saw him and a guy doing crota by themselves and I wanted to go help. Helped them finish and now that guy who liked my rocket launch is my best friend. We play together to this day

I bought the Gjallarhorn from Xur during that second week. It took awhile to obtain enough Strange Coins to buy it. At the time, I didn't know what it was. That was until I started using it. It became my favorite boss-killing weapon ever since.

The drop rate for the foil is 5%. I remember getting it after oracles and when I told my friends they were shocked. I was still new at the game and I was on xbox1 at the time. Good memories

The only real memory I have of gjallahorn was having it, not realizing how powerful it was. At some point or another I wanted to play the crota raid with my little brother, and the only reason I got to even join was because I already had one. Good memories.

I agree with you on the praetorian foil. I only got it ONCE in year one, and never again after that.

I got the necrochasm in D1, it was super grindy to get and took a bit to get the crux of crota. But one thing that was memorable was an old friend of mine told me he would help me with the first two dlc's that dropped in d1, and so it took months and eventually got it, we finished the story and he told me that the chest from prison of elders guarantees you an exotic for completing it the first time, the exitic I received was the hawkmoon I still remember his reaction when I told him what it was, he even told his friends about it and told me to show it off lol, but ever since then I have used nothing but hand cannons in d1 and carried over to d2.

Funny you mention g horn and nechrochasm in this. I managed to get the crux of Crota and my 1st Gjallarhorn when my team killed crota. Craziest day

Never got any Y1 Trials loot, but did have TFWPKY, 3 Little Words, and Six Dreg Pride. Also a rapid fire pulse called 123 Syzygy which I've only heard one other person remember getting. I always loved going into crucible with old rare weapons (sometimes actual Rare weapons, blues had cool names in D1...) and getting randomly messaged like "wtf is that gun, where'd you get it??"

I wasn’t around for year 1, started like 5 months before RoI dropped. But I did do year 1 raids a lot before there age of triumph variants. It was about 2 months before RoI dropped and I was going for year 1 necrochasm. I’m not kidding when I say I got the crux on back to back runs after only about 3 weeks worth of runs. My friend who never obtained a crux after thousands of clears was so mad and same goes for my crota raiding group, both of them were so mad. I still have the second crux in my vault to this day and I still helped my raid group with clears hoping they too would get it, one of them did before I stopped playing with them. I can only hope the other guy got lucky eventually.

That is crazy that you had trouble getting the foil. A destinytuber Theblacklink had said the same thing and would run throwback Thursday to get it to drop and I have had it drop for me in 3 runs in a row.

My first Gjallarhorn was on day 1 of the House of Wolves DLC, from my first ever Prison of Elders clear chest. My 2nd Gjallarhorn was 20 minutes later, on my second ever Prison of Elders clear chest

I had a Devil you Dont drop from the introduction mission, the best RNG I've ever had... Safe to say it was never dismantled

I taught the D1 raids a lot, with around 200-250 clears of each of the first 3 raids (only 100ish Wrath of the Machines). Original Praetorian Foil was definitely pretty rare... I'd put it around a 10% chance that it would drop for someone in a raid, which is pretty close to the community consensus of ~2% individual drop chance. I think only the Necrochasm crux was anywhere near that rare in all 4 D1 raids. My Foil dropped somewhere around #35 or so I'll never forget this night: one of my teaching runs had someone who was in their first raid ever. Had Fatebringer from the Templar, Gjallarjorn from the Gorgon chest, and the Mythoclast all drop for him. He had heard the name Fatebringer before but not the other two and had no idea what kind of weapon it was. Whole thing was nuts, one of the more bizarre experiences I've had

The trolley problem (y1 crucible fusion) was probably my favorite fusion of all time I don't know what it was about it but it was just so good

Messenger adapt, still my favorite gun in D1 .. what a blast. Also the Supremacy i have in my inventory, dont play the game anymore but still. Amazing game

My best destiny 1 experience to this day was receiving back to back universal remote and last word from crucible matches.

I've got quite a few year 1 vendor weapons. The OG Devil You Know, TFWPKY, Three Little Words, Another NITC, Judgment 6, One Way Ticket 000, MG18A Harm's Way, OG LDR 5001. I might have one or 2 more, but I know I have these. My prized rare item though was the Fermi Solution ship, back when everybody wanted it in year 1 and the Faction ships were hard to get.

Hawkmoon was my very first exotic, and at the time i obtained it (forgot which activity it was) it was a PS exclusive! Didn't run any other weapon after the drop until I was bored and used something else!

I remember getting supremacy from the shrine of oryx mission, and mine had final round on it, such nostalgia

i have a handful of year one weapons, some being adept such as Messenger, Jewel of Osiris, and The Summoner. some of my other rare ones are Tomorrow's Answer, The Crash from FWC in TDB, Another NitC from Vanguard in TDB, and an original LDR from TDB. i also have a lot of old Iron Banner and random faction weapons, full sets of year one and year two Trials armors, and an OG Supremacy. i was 13 when TDB came out so im surprised i still have these weapons from back seven years ago honestly.

I had gotten a legendary engram from prison of elders and I had FEELING it would decrypt into ghorn. I made my friends rush to the tower and lo and behold, it dropped.

I played D1 for years grinding Prison of Elders to get a her benevolence; a couple of days ago I randomly decided to hop back on and play some PoE and I got it I think my first game after years. While I was playing I actually got 2 other random players to join in, too. Nostalgic

Got praetorian foil on my first hard mode clear but took me over 50 vog completions in D1 to get aetheons epilogue. It was the only weapon I was missing from vog for like 6 months or something like that I got it right before house of wolves came out and did vog every week

TFWPKY was my first legendary and remains one of my favorite guns I’ve ever gotten in Destiny.

Gjallarhorn dropped for me from the Witch in the Phogoth strike while I was doing the Bounty for what I thought would be my first Exotic, Thorn.

At 1:07 I saw the celestial shot and thought to myself… “damn, the power creeps is real, now that is just a single 4x honed edge from izanagi’s worth of damage.”

The Supremacy was my favorite weapon in D1 and I would take it everywhere with me using it for everything bc how much it meant to me knowing how rare it was.

I got Gjallarhorn from the exotic chest in vog on Tuesday and then Xur sold it on Friday. Then TTK came out. Only got to experience it for 3 days. More like 1. I remember grinding hard to upgrade it all the way. Probably only did a couple activities with it fully upgraded.

From this list I have praetorian foil which I remember actually being one of the first things I got from vog. Messager(adept), light/beware, btrd-345, final rest ii, two og jolder’s hammer and felwinter lie they removed shot package off of.

Polite Denial was a rare hand cannon that was only obtainable during the Dark Belows release, when the house of wolves came out it stopped dropping, sucks since it was so good in crucible

My luckiest destiny moment I got the ghallahorn on the very first nightfall against sepicks prime. I noticed right away how op it was but no one would listen until the raid came out.

I had the supremacy!!! It’s the weapon that actually got me into sniping, before I use to be a hand cannon, and auto rifle user, now I snipe when ever possible.

I started with TTK Legendary Collection and played everyday up until D2 launched. My rarest drops were my Longbow Synthesis, Eyasluna, and Hereafter.

I remember getting Gally from the OG exotic chest at the gorgons. Those were the days

Three little words and the vanquisher were both nasty. Sad days when high impact pulses got nerfed since three little words was not really usable anymore.

I had the reverse bad RNG. I got the Supremacy early on in the game when they had some kind of glitch event that wasn't supposed to trigger yet. The Preatorian Foil was the first drop I got in a hard mode. However, I could never get the Vex to drop until near the very end of D1. I couldn't get a Gally either, until I unlocked some lore cards on the website. For some reason, that fooled the game into thinking I had them and poof, within a week Vex and a Gally dropped. I started playing in week 2 of D1 and saw the Gally in Xur's inventory but didn't have any strange coins yet to buy it.

one of the rairest guns i know of is the kings fall scout with rangefinder. they changed the perks on it a loong time ago. alot of people i know sharded their old ones once the raids got revamped in y4

My gjallarhorn story is my first time getting it (obviously). It was my first ever time playing the Vault of Glass back in December 2014, we just beat The Templar and I got the fatebringer, then we went the "secret" way to the exotic chest and it dropped me the gjallarhorn. Everyone was so mad at me, back to back great guns. 👍

I have two Praetorian Foils on my D1 account funnily enough. When I first got it, I thought my friends were messing with me when they told me how rare it was.

i got the plan c really early into destiny i remember using it religiously in VOG when it came around. got Gally pretty early too but didnt get ice breaker till v late

Back on the Xbox 360 I had almost every single exotic in the game I was only missing two if I remember correctly when I converted over to Xbox One and actually sent me back I didn't start all over again but I still had a level 40 Hunter but my exotics were low didn't have that many it really set me off because then I had the grind all over again still am to this day

I got my first and only Gally drop as a pvp reward on the 360 in the first month or so of D1 being out. I remember vividly completing a crucible match on the Moon map and having it be awarded to me, not knowing just how rare it was.

Got my Ghorn by soloing an old omnigul nightfall during the Dark Below. Used a cheese strat in that upper room (where the one boomer knight would spawn) hot swapping an icebreaker with an armor piercing arc sniper to shoot through the wall!

I currently have an Unwilling Soul -09 from HoW that has Army of One and Crowd Control… Not only am I boosting damage with each kill- *but I’m also getting my abilities back with said kills*

Back when crota was the main raid I remember one of my buddies used to essentially blackmail raid teams to keep me in. Everyone wanted a sword bearer, and the rest had to have gjallarhorn. I only had icebreaker so when they wanted to kick me he'd tell them, if he goes, your sword bearer goes too, and you won't find another for a while. Let's just say we changed a lot of people's minds when it came to "must have ghorn" lol
