Both of you describing divorce, perfectly reflected my own feelings about my parents divorce and my reaction to it at a young age. My brother and I responded to this trauma in our young age in opposite ways... He refuses to marry his girlfriend of 8 years, although they are living like they are married. I married young and share your views on life and marriage. To this day, I struggle with the trauma of divorce that I experienced as a kid. Like you Brian, I felt gaslighted... the people who should have cared didn't seem to care at all. The damage from divorce is far reaching for sure.

When I started wearing skirts and dresses - whether fancy or casual, I had more negative comments from my old women friends than from any other group. They would snarkily say that I always looked so "fancy" now and I should just dress more comfortably (I was comfortable, but that's beside the point). On the opposite spectrum, if I went to a store to buy something and the item I wanted was on a high shelf, an employee would always offer to help me get it. I never had that happen to me when I wore pants. It seemed that dressing in a more feminine manner, brought out the best in people that I didn't know and the worst in fellow women that I did know.

100% this. Both men and women in public seem more respectful and just … softer. I don’t know how else to describe it. The soul responds positively to modesty.

This is so true!!! People who were in your life you thought were the greatest made you realize, maybe not so much. While at the same time receiving so much respect from strangers because you dress modestly.

My MIL criticizes me often for not wearing pants, specifically jeans. She is obsessed with looking youthful and “cute” and thinks dresses make women look matronly a.k.a not sexy. She herself is a Protestant Christian. Raised in a Pentecostal church taught to believe the Catholic Church is the devil. But somehow looking “sexy” is more important than being modest. I’ll never understand it.

We went back to TLM about 1.5 years ago. We are content and fulfilled during Holy Mass now. We also attend NO during the week which is celebrated without music and makes it more reverent ...imho. Most of the modern hymns seem to create a more party like atmosphere... whereas the traditional hymns seem to create a more profound worship atmosphere for us. We have been blessed to find a TLM within driving distance here in MI. Thank you for this talk..it is very enlightening! ❤pray 🙏 without ceasing!

Once I read the prayers of the old Mass and then compared them with the prayers of the new Mass, I wanted to know why they were so different. My research led me to all of Michael Davies' works, then Archbishop Lefevre, Dr. Kwasniewski and many more. I came to the conclusion that I could no longer assent to or promote that whole psyop and never looked back.

Germany… I started going to TLM through the FSSP there. That’s where, Covid was what. The FSSP priest that had one English homily per month for the Americans was the priest that showed me what I want and should expect in a priest. The first thing he said when he saw a new family attending was, “When can I come bless your house?” When my kids made him a Christmas treat, he gave each of them a prayer card from his ordination and asked for them to remember to pray for him. He was excellent. ❤

00:00 🤝 Brian Holdsworth was baptized in the United Church but had a nominal Protestant upbringing, while his parents weren't particularly religious. 05:22 📊 Kennedy Hall had a similar background with parents who were Catholic but had lapsed and later rediscovered his faith. 18:23 🌟 Brian started exploring faith at around 18 or 19 when the circumstances of his life began to unravel, and he realized he needed to make a change in his life. 20:43 📚 Brian Holdsworth read "The Four Loves" by C.S. Lewis and learned about friendship being built upon mutual love of something. 21:11 🙌 Friendship is a mutual love directed toward a common interest or goal, like religion or shared beliefs. 22:03 💔 Brian's girlfriend had a different concept of friendship, focusing on infatuation with the other person. 24:22 🙏 Brian's spiritual journey began when he reluctantly attended a Bible study with his girlfriend and had a mystical experience while seeking God. 25:32 📖 Brian started reading the Bible and exploring his faith, eventually considering Catholicism due to its claims of Apostolic Authority. 26:56 ⛪ Brian found compatibility issues with different Christian denominations, leading him to lean towards Catholicism. 30:05 👥 Brian valued deep, meaningful friendships as a significant part of his spiritual journey. 36:08 👫 The trauma of divorce and the importance of true friendship in people's lives and spiritual journey. 37:57 🤝 The depth of friendship can be limited when fundamental beliefs or practices differ significantly, such as in interfaith friendships. 40:43 🌟 The practical challenges of finding friends who share your values, beliefs, and lifestyle choices, like in Brian's experience as a Catholic with a large family. 40:56 🤝 Building deep friendships based on shared interests can be fulfilling, but for lasting and meaningful relationships, a common foundation of faith and values is essential. 41:39 💔 Maintaining relationships with significant moral differences can lead to insecurity, judgment, and tension among people, making it challenging to sustain meaningful connections. 42:33 🙏 Building friendships with like-minded individuals in your faith community can provide support and enrich your spiritual journey. 43:44 🌍 Young adults seeking Catholic relationships often face challenges due to the limited availability of like-minded individuals in the Church. 44:24 👥 The Catholic Church sometimes struggles to cater to the needs of young adults, resulting in a lack of support and community for this demographic. 47:41 ⛪ Transitioning from a more conservative Novus Ordo to a traditional Catholic community can lead to tensions and ruptured friendships, as it may be seen as "leaving the club." 52:59 🙌 Personal experiences, aesthetics, and reverence in the liturgy play crucial roles in one's faith journey, and a disconnect in these aspects can be profoundly disheartening. 55:13 🏛 When a parish fails to provide an atmosphere conducive to spiritual growth and community, individuals may seek out traditional Catholic communities that better align with their values and beliefs. 56:06 🧐 It's essential to approach discussions about appropriate attire for Mass with kindness and respect, rather than judgment and criticism. 01:00:56 🙏 Finding ways for your children to be authentically Catholic, immersed in the faith, and connected to the Church is essential for their spiritual growth and continuity. 01:01:23 🙏 Many parents work hard to keep their kids in the faith, but it's crucial for parishes to play a role in retaining young Catholics. 01:02:04 🌟 Overreliance on individuals' talents in the parish can lead to a cult of personality and detract from the community's spiritual focus. 01:03:14 🎓 The upbringing of Catholic children can influence their perception of faith, and if they take it for granted, they may drift away as they get older. 01:04:24 🙌 Transitioning to the Latin Mass was driven by concern for the spiritual well-being of the speaker's children. 01:05:21 🌐 The Latin Mass created a sense of community and spiritual vitality, which appealed to both adults and children. 01:09:09 🙏 Sensory experiences and a more embodied spirituality in the Latin Mass can deeply affect and draw in young children. 01:16:09 🛠 Accepting mediocrity in liturgy is not virtuous; there is room for improvement and excellence in how we experience worship. 01:21:00 🛠 The Church went through a reform process, including rewriting the Mass and establishing new standards for sanctuaries and art. 01:21:40 🙏 Recognizing concerns and the witness of people leaving the Church, there's a need for further reform to address explicit complaints and better communicate the faith. 01:22:23 🎨 The way the Church presents itself, akin to branding, is crucial; it should not appear unprofessional or lacking reverence. 01:23:34 🤔 As a thought experiment, if one were Pope, actions would include cleaning the curia, addressing issues in Germany, excommunicating public figures contradicting Catholic teaching, and reducing the volume of papal communications. 01:27:52 💒 Implementing measures to enhance the quality of confessionals, training priests in moral theology, and focusing on traditional forms of Mass as part of reform efforts. 01:31:17 📖 Emphasizing seminary reform, similar to historical reform initiatives like the Council of Trent, is vital for the future of the Church. 01:33:12 📚 A book on modernism, exploring the philosophical roots of modernism in Kant, Hegel, and others, is in progress, highlighting the significance of metaphysical realism like that of Thomas Aquinas.

Dear Brian says that going to the SSPX is a compromise, for someone like myself who was with the Ecclesia Dei community for years I would strongly disagree! Having the blessing of an SSPX Chapel and a real Catholic school for my children plus the wonderful direction and raw faith that comes from the blessed irregular situation of their priests and all that comes from their priesthood, I would say quite the opposite the compromise has gone! We can just get on with the faith and salvation of our souls and that of others.

It was very interesting how Kennedy said that one of the first things that he would do if he were Pope is to just have all the priest turn around to be Ad Orientum. At my parish church we have 4 priests. The pastor and assistant use Ad Orientum. The two older priests do the Mass Versus Populum. It's getting for me now where I can hardly bear to go to the Versus Populum Masses anymore. It's not just that but also the older priests tell everyone to "offer one another the sign of peace." That is not done at the Ad Orientum Masses. Also, at the Ad Orientum Masses the Eucharistic Prayer I is used whereas at the Versus Populum Masses the Eucharistic Prayer II is used.

Just cause one attends the Traditional Latin Mass doesn’t make one a Traditional Catholic. One can be attending it simply out of a preference for it; it meets their tastes. One can simply be a Novus Ordo Catholic who likes the Latin Mass, but they see nothing wrong with the Novus Ordo. This is where I see Brian. A Traditional Catholic rejects the Novus Ordo as a modernist construct. They attend the TLM as a matter of faith It is good he attends the TLM cause eventually one can not help to eventually learn to oppose the New Mass: one is Catholic and the other modernist. It is inevitable it will happen. This is why the modernist oppose it

1:04:10 I had this experience, being raised in a pretty liberal and irreverent Novus ordo parish, and about the time I was 16, after I was confirmed I just checked out. Really before confirmation I stopped taking it seriously, because I didn’t see other people around me taking it seriously. I became an atheist in college and my life suffered greatly because of it. I just finally reverted about three years ago and now I am struggling to find a Latin mass anywhere near me. I don’t want my son to have the same experience of Catholicism that I did growing up

I understand how you feel my family member in Christ. I am 22 year old NO altar servant who served in total of 10 years, who wishes and hopes that God leads me to the future where I will have the family and raise children in the traditional Catholic way. I struggled a lot this year because of some priests who (may Lord God forgive me and not take this as judging) brought terrible fruits that affected me in worse way that I tried multiple times to leave the church literally for another denomination. God did not allow me and he told me to stay for a moment and then He brought me to TLM that is held in chapel not so often, but couple of times monthly. When I attended this year my first TLM in SSPX chapel, I felt like a Hebrew from Old Testament and saw the priest as the high priest interceding to God for us on our behalf. That is how holy the mass looked like from my perspective spiritually. It would be great if Kennedy Reports once organized joint podcast where everyone can interract with him.

If I was pope, right after leaving the conclave I’d write and promulgate a decree a) rescinding the Vatican II documents, b) rescinding the new Mass, c) forbidding the new Mass, d) order all Roman rite priests to learn and say exclusively the TLM asap, e) order all Roman rite bishops and priests to immediately return to the ecclesial tradition in place up until 1962, f) replace all the cardinals with new cardinals from the SSPX, g) ending with a resignation effective once the decree is published and added to the Acts of the Apostolic See.

As I began to seek Mass having been away for a long time i was shocked to see a protestantism and such an empty modernism at a Catholic Church, it's a very new Building with a very Modernist minimalist almost a Rec Room aesthetic with no stations no Saints no Blessed Mother Virgin Mary and Our Lord our God Crucible was not front and center but at our back to name a few issues i had with the inside, the priest seemed hurried in the entrance, wearing a mask & not looking priestly in garments and tennis shoes, there are two large television screens facing the pews pumping in words to say, wirh the drums and the electronic guitar and idk what else it immediately gave me protestant church vibes, the entire service was conducted by early 20s and younger including the band, the reading from the scripture by a very young woman not modestly dressed as in uncovered shoulders, then fast forward the first thing spoken by the priest was for a collection by a reading of the tax collectors and what is Ceasars something or other, btw i could barely make out what he was saying due to the mask attacking his speach pattern, then instructed a free for all of all the children present regardless of age to run around and pass a basket, almost literally, it was wild, i honestly did not notice when the proper Mass began and or took place as my head was still spinning, to then when we where instructed to say peace to our neighbor the people directly in front of me did not even think twice to turn their head back and the lady next to me my senior was aprehensive at best, I'm sure they aren't malicious but i believe it was more to do with the way the priest runs the parish than the people on the pews, it was my first time their, many of those attending came wearing full football ⚽️ & 🏈⚾️🏀 jerseys, one did as a family, teens looked like maybe are going to a club or a barbecue but what followed was more disturbing, when it was time for The Eucharist a scramble of teenagers, boys & i believe a girl or two, one boy wearing a gold chain with no crucifix and an other wearing his favorite Manchester United club kit, others just casually dressed had the assignment of distribution of the eucharist, the one altar boy was null and void the entire service and thats when i with all due respect to our Lord our God, i walked out this was at a Salesian Parish with a School attached in SoCal L.A. that was also hosting a Carnival that weekend, I pray to God this is corrected and for a return to tradition, thoughts,...

This is so good but I could barely get through the parts on divorce. The thing about society gaslighting us on divorce hit too hard. My parents thankfully reconciled, but I've never been the same since that separation. Now I've found out my own husband has been chronically unfaithful and dishonest about his intentions and he's leaving me. Trying to express to people my fears for my daughter and the seriousness of what we've done to her life is maddening because everyone around me just repeats how this is normal and she'll adjust and as long as we're happy and good to her she'll be fine. Fascinating conversation! I want to comment on the issue of the lack of quality in liturgical music. As a professional pianist who has experience playing for Catholic Churches in California, I can tell you that in the experience of me and my colleagues, most Church's do not prioritize the music ministry in their budget. Oftentimes, musicians are expected to sing or play for free. If you want quality, you need experienced singers and instrumentalists who take study and practice seriously. Protestant Churches here are known to pay more: $150-300 per service, compared to some Catholic Churches which don't even pay $100 per Mass. Thinking in terms of California's cost of living, I would say that each Mass should be at least $200. Now, that seems high to those who don't understand how musicians work. So here is a break down: Mass will usually have 15-20 mins of music, depending on how many hymns are included, which mass parts are sung or spoken, the responsorial psalm, antiphons, the post-communion Ave Maria, etc. Serious professional musicians (who typically will be the music director AND organist at the Church) would devote at least 2 hrs of daily practice in the 6 days preceding Sunday (12 hrs total). If there is a choir (often made up of volunteers) there should ideally be two 90 minute rehearsals in order to guarantee musical execution of the highest standard. (3 hrs) Without even counting the Sunday Masses and the commute time to Church, $200/15hrs = $13.33 which is less than California's $15.50 minimum wage. If I calculate the rate based on California's minimum wage, and add 4 Masses (1 Saturday Vigil and 3 Sunday Masses) plus an hour of commute time, $15.50 x 20 hrs = $310 (and I am assuming every single Mass will use the exact same set of hymns, Mass parts, etc.). Ideally, of course devout Catholic musicians would be able to give to God and the Church freely. But they also need to survive, to provide for themselves and their families, so if they are not paid well enough at Church, they will prioritize their day job. In short, Churches should pay their musicians, and organize regular rehearsals, and the faithful will witness an exponential rise in the quality of music.

None, except being ostracized as canonically irregular for 50+years until Rome comes to its senses. The point is they refused to compromise on the truth of the errors of the council and the new mass. That's why they hold the line in defense of Traditional Catholicism while being persecuted.

Tim Flanders is doing a 3-part series on the mass. 52% of the over 1,000 prayers were just deleted. Only 13% were retained. The rest were edited (lines removed) or new ones cobbled together in centons (Prayers constructed from other prayers). So, yeah, they're able to "change the mass". They've massively changed it already.

Why is this always brought up without mentioning what was added? Much more of Scripture is in the current missal vs 1962.
@TheZagnut69
@TheZagnut69 9 ай бұрын
@@nealkriesterer It's brought up because the new mass is a less reverent, modernized, Protestantized travesty, and N.O. masses are bleeding attendance. You shall know them by their fruits. But you can enlighten us. Don't just make a claim, an assertion, about how much was added. Do we just have to take your word for it? Tell us. Show us. Do you have a link to a resource that compares how much was added versus how much was removed or edited? Was enough scripture added back to make up for over 500 prayers being removed? A resource that took as much effort to show what was added as the effort that went into the animation in the Mass of Ages video showing the deletions and changes? Did YOU make the effort to put the missals side-by-side and make a comparison? If you didn't, where do you get your information about what was added? Show us. Or point us to someone who did that backs up what you claim. Those who make a positive claim bear the burden of proof.

Younger widows have been left out of the picture to. Most people in my age are married with children. My children are in the mid thirties, I have 7 grandchildren, and I'm under 55. Married folk don't want to be around single people, and most people who are widowed are much older than I. After mass, people run to go do what ever they do, and don't stick around for chit chat.

Interesting convo - thanks! I have to disagree with Brians "pope list" though and am more in line with Kennedy. The problems are stemming from bad teaching (heresy) and bad/false liturgy and sacraments. The problems have to be fixed there first. How that would be implemented though is anyone's guess. Either way, the things being taught and done in many/most Novus Ordo parishes - en masse -are not Catholic in these two areas (Faith and Liturgy) and for that reason it seems that naturally speaking only a supernatural solution would fix the problem. For those who have found Tradition - thanks be to God, - for those who don't know about it - pray for them that they will, for those who reject it (like Francis) - God have mercy!

I was apostate for almost 5 decades. I’m not proud of that but the Novus Ordo was not in my experience except for maybe a couple of weddings and a funeral and honestly I wasn’t really paying attention figuring because they were weddings or a funeral they were just a different thing. I was pretty much appalled when I did return. My question was if you wanted to change the Mass it could have been done in a more compromising way. It seems everything was thrown out. I find the NO Mass chaotic, very Protestant, and often blasphemous and sacrilegious. It seems to be a little more human though and after extensive reading in depth in my pre V2 Latin Missal the absolute truth and beauty is there and did not need to be discarded for something as alien as the NO. I have to drive a very long way to my Latin Mass Church and confessions are almost an impossibility there. So I do reconciliation at several nearby NO Churches. And if I cannot for whatever reason cannot make it to TLM I will go to an NO Church. Which begs the question I do not see the faithful returning to the TLM. They have been going NO for about 50 years now. TLM Churches are few and far between. They are two different Masses I don’t see how this state of affairs will be allowed to exist. If that day comes I will have to make a big decision. But becoming a Protestant is not in the cards.

Sorry, Kennedy, but I have up on this video hallway through because I got fed up having to hit the skip button every two minutes for a new commercial. I understand you want to monetize your channel, but there is a fine balance to maintain if you want to keep your viewers. Ads appeared every two minutes in this video, which may just be the most frequent I have ever seen on KZfaq. I know you select that yourself to capitalize on ad revenue, but I can tell you that you have lost a viewer because of this greed. I'm sure there are others who feel the same.

I don't think Brian is disingenuous. He seems quite honest about things. He just hasn't done his homework and thinks he's being obedient to the hierarchy. He doesn't quite understand the history of the society, what it truly stands for, and how things fit into the true hierarchy of obedience... Give him time and wait until his FSSP parish is forced to close in a few years, his family has no access to 'diocesan approved' sacraments unless they go back to the NO, and we'll see where he stands then...
