One of my goals for this channel is to hear music from all over the world. Well, join me today as we head to Persia (Iran) to listen to the Delban Ensemble performing "Mehrgiha". It is almost meditative in nature and quite beautiful.

Beautiful. I've noticed that our local supermarket has now started using a world music playlist that includes music like this and other cultures. It's just awesome, turning something as mundane as grocery shopping into a cultural experience

Well said Sir. Wherever your from takes an open mind and maybe some ear adjustment to appreciate another regions music style and especially vocals. Never heard this group before, but remember, it's not always just about getting something new for your playlist, but rather getting a chance to discover other people and their culture. Music still best way to exchange friendship. By the way, the first Arabic music to my ears was on an old James Bond soundtrack! 👍

I'm pleased to see you liked it! I had the pleasure to see Mahdieh Mohammadkhani live in 2019, though with a different (entirely male) ensemble. The album "A Window" featuring her and the Dastan Ensemble, which I luckily bought at said concert and listen to regularly, isn't even to be found on youtube. BTW, it might help the algorithms to include the name of the vocalist Mahdieh Mohammadkhani in the video title, since that will be what people using the search function will be looking for. This is the only clip featuring the Delban Ensemble, but you find a lot of clips featuring Mahdieh Mohammadkhani. Looks like this clip won't get many views here, though there is one reaction channel, on which this clip got already more than 80,000 views within two years, but that might be because it appeals to a different clientele.

It was interesting. The use of vocals like that for me is a talent, Maria Franz from Heilung does these kinds of vocal sounds and I really like it. This is not something I would listen to on a regular basis, but it was not too bad

I sure was surprised to see you reacting to this.😱😂 I have an entire mixed cassette tape of this style of music copied by a friend who owns a great local Restaurant called Khybers Pass, here in Ottawa. I loved this piece. The voices were supherb. Does anyone know what the Kobys looking instrument is called? Or the strange Pot Drum? The other long necked "guitar-like instrument" is obviously a Setar or something very close. Loved this piece of music.❤ But honestly I have a weakness for all music that incorporates "Elemental or God tones". Great review🔥 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Thank you for your comment! I want to hear as much as I can of the music that's out there. There was a period of time that I was on a big world music kick and discovered so much music it was overwhelming.

As regards the instruments, a look into the description of the video answers at least some of your questions. The "guitar-like instrument" is indeed a Setar. The Kobys-looking instrument is (in the description) called Qeychak Alto. The Pot Drum is, I think, an Udu. I'm not an expert on this, but just did some research myself. Since you loved the vocals, also check out other clips with vocalist Mahdieh Mohammadkhani. While I'm at it, I also recommend to look for clips featuring the Dastan Ensemble and Parisa, especially the albums "Shoorideh" a"Shoorideh" and "Gol-e Behesht". I also recommend you to check out this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z8-SZ5WK2MmrZGg.html It's an excerpt of a live concert by the female ensemble Avaye Doust. What is extra cool is the "percussion duel" starting at 8 minutes and 13 seconds into the clip and going on for about 8 minutes! The percussionist on the left is playing a Tombak, the one on the right an Udu, later on switching to a Daf.

@@reneedevry4361 You are welcome! Unfortunately, the erractic algorithms kept immediately deleting my reply to your comment in spite of several changes I made, and it was only after my eighth attempt and removing another recommendation I had included in my original reply that my comment was accepted.
