My grandpa taught us about the "river of water" long, long ago. He said it was an evidence that Joseph Smith couldn't have written the Book of Mormon because, being raised in New England, he wouldn't have known of any other kinds of rivers. We lived in San Diego where there are plenty of dry river beds which fill up only in the rainy season. When desert dwellers come upon a "river of water" it is a big deal! Thanks for this class, it is wonderful and has helped me see some new things, as well as called me to action.

Around 26:00: I think that a mother letting her sons go can be a greater and scarier act of faith than being the son who goes, leaves. Her “do,” her action, was a letting go. I love this. I love her. What a brave woman!

Thank you Brother Hillton for the beautiful lesson. . I like the last bit where Elder Bedner talk about telling and talking about things to our children. We need to show them how to do things instead of just talking to them. . Great examples from scripture and the leaders of the church. UK

To me , modern day Mothers of Faith are like Sariah! In our turbulent world - when with Faith we encourage our young Missionaries to partake of the miracles and blessings of a Mission experience we will gain Experience, blessings, and Converts to 29:48 Know the Gospel light ❣️💝🎉While we embark on answering our callings in Faith , We will gain a closeness to our Master! We will glean ever so many priceless experiences . many are housed in uncomfortable rooms and apartments. Often live in less than ideal settings & situations !What beautiful growth exists! Life enhanced through obedience! Outstanding ❣️💝🎉

I am using a new blue soft covered Book of Mormon this year so that I am not guided or influenced by my regular set of scriptures which are marked and has notes in it. I wanted to see what would speak to me as I do a serious study of the Book of Mormon. The scripture that stood out to me this week was 1 Nephi 5:22. I likened it to me and this is what it said, "Wherefore it is wisdom in the Lord that I should study and abide by the precepts of these scriptures as I journey through this spiritual wilderness of life towards exaltation in the kingdom of God." Interestingly I went to my regular scriptures and this was not underlined. Thank you for this wonderful class!

@John Hilton III, THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking a chapter's concept and teaching it to us, rather than droning on and on about each and every single verse. Yes, I know each verse can have a lot to say, but as I've studied The Book of Mormon for 50 years, I'm anxious to be taught differently, to gain insights I havent seen yet, like knowing-then-doing vs. doing-then-knowing. Because of this, I can already tell it's going to be a great year of testimony growth.

I was born and raised in Africa where there are truly more rivers of sand than rivers of water. It could take half of a lifetime to ever see water in any of those sand rivers so finding a river of water is a big deal and should be noted just as Father Lehi did.

Great class, I love it. My only suggestion would be to make your classes easy to find on KZfaq. Kind of like you’re seeking Jesus classes how they are laid out, it always takes me a little while to find what class I mean. Hope that helps. If not, I will keep “searching” 😊

Hi John, I'm so grateful for these extras (Master Classes). I've converted to be a LDS in 1991. I've been preserved by my Lord for a purpose in 2020, to bring my family to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world. Just wanted to ask, has anyone ever written a book to help someone like myself with an acquired brain injury to read BOM with ease. Meaning there are sections that criss cross with time line. For instance, I cannot watch a movie that is backwards, meaning with the ending 1st, then the middle then the beginning. Since my acquired brain injury, reading the Book of Mormon or most scriptures has been a challenge. Also IT has been a huge challenge since my injury.

Around the 5-minute mark, you were speaking of "They searched the scriptures." This is an interesting coincidence as today I was looking for a word in Hebrew for seek releated to 1 Nephi 3:4. The word could be darash. The following words come up in English for this word: ask (1), avenge (1), calls (1), care (1), cares (3), comes the reckoning (1), consult (2), consulted by them at all (1), demand (1), inquire (33), inquired (5), inquirer (1), investigate (3), investigated (1), looks (2), making inquiry (1), questioned (1), require (7), required (1), requires (1), resort (3), search (6), searched (1), searched carefully (1), searches (2), seek (53), seek after (1), seeking (2), seeks (3), sought (18), studied (1), study (1), surely require (1). Note seek and search are both used to translate this Hebrew word. I bring this up as a Jewish site has the following. Please forgive the length, but I have underlined the key point, that inquiry, seeking, and searching are the methods to our Israel journey. www.chabadwestside.org/templates/articlecco_cdo/aid/659921/jewish/Shemini.htm Our Parshah of Shemini discusses various offerings that were brought on the day the Mishkan was dedicated. In the middle of this narrative, the Torah relates how Moses "inquired" about certain procedures that were followed by his brother Aaron. In the discussion Moses had with his brother Aaron, recorded in Lev. 10:16 - 20, it is noteworthy that Two questions arise. First, what is the significance of the middle word of the Torah? Second, why is the word "inquired" the word that marks the middle of the Torah? As a rule, the significance of any text is captured by its opening, its conclusion and also its middle. This is especially true about the Torah, which is designated as Torat Emet, the Torah of truth, which is inherently consistent. Thus, the Jerusalem Talmud states that the word Emet-truth comprises the first, last and middle letters of the Hebrew Alphabet. This refers to the creation of the world as it arose in G‑d's thought in its most abstract and pristine state. This has been compared to an idea that one has yet to act upon. The very first glimmer of the idea as it arises in one's conscious thought would be referred to as the genesis of the project. Genesis is thus about the world as it existed in its potential state before it assumed form and character. A seal has two functions, it designates the end of something and also protects it from being compromised, preserving its integrity and purpose. The seal of the Torah is Israel. The Jewish people were chosen to take the raw material of the world and perfect it and preserve its spiritual and G‑dly status. The word Israel means mastery over the physical and spiritual forces within creation. Israel also comprises two words that mean "the straightforward path to G‑d, Yashar Kel." While genesis is about how the world came to be, Israel is about what the world should become; a world in which the natural and even the spiritual forces are harnessed to the engine of G‑dly transformation. Israel is about the way we no longer have to take a circuitous route to G‑d.

O am wanting to understand did they make copies of the original books for others? It would be great if this was possible I understand that Mormons faced with many different records written. Different types Kings,Priest and more information about time periods He had help choosing the ones to pull out and write to make the best and one we have today. I know it was very heavy and long life for Moroni to carry on with these bags full of sacred gifts, books of gold, reading ability, and sword of Laben. I am happy to know that he had 3 Nephis come to help him out and others came to him. 17:08
