Yeah clips would've been much better if context was added. Most of those were decisive goals scored in crucial times, sometimes with backstories stretching back decades, like the Iniesta winner in the World Cup final at 3:44. Holland and Spain were the two biggest footballing nations not to win the World Cup at that point. Iniesta's goal meant Spain won their first ever WC, kick starting a successful era for them. Earlier in the game, Arjen Robben had a gilt edge chance that he missed for Holland that could've won them the trophy. It was a very costly miss. So as fate would have it 4 years later, at the next World Cup, Spain and Holland faced each other in their opening games for that tournament. That's where at 4:52 comes in. Robben scored the 5th goal in a 5-1 trashing of the defending champions to top off a brilliant performance that day.

@@Person-gk5ee NFL is pretty much a broken sport. Way too many rules, that change all the time ( cause its broken ), refs have to watch some crazy angle replays to see what actually happeneed who touched the grass first or whatnot, lasts way too long, way too many people are on each team, way too many pauses for commercials, and i dont even know how youre supposed to play that sport in an unprofessional event, like with friends you cant even play american football? Soccer is simple, every kid can learn rules in 5 minutes, and you can play it with any number of people. Also soccers magic comes from players being let on their own to improvise, rather than coaching staff drawing everything up. Makes it more like jazz, while NFL would be more like an orchestra. NFL/NBA games aren't anywhere near the same as college because the passion the fans have for their universities are so much better than proffessional sports. I'm not wanting to compare the two fanbases and the passion, just know that americans are almost, if not just as passionate for a sport as you guys are for football. YNWA!

15:33 its good to note that the team Liverpool faced were undoubtedly the best team in the world. 16:54 To give more context: That was a World Cup semi-final, in France. France was down 0-1. Lilian Thuram was a defender, he’s not supposed to score much. But there’s an interesting fact which made that moment very special: Thuram is actually the man who has played the most games under the french national jersey in history (142 games in total, a record for his country). In 142 games played for France, he only ever scored 2 goals. Just 2. Both of these goals, he scored in the very semi-final that is displayed in the video. Making his country go from 0-1 to 2-1 in the span of a few minutes. For the record, he was the one who gave away the goal to the Croatian team in the first place, that came from a mistake he made. Thuram, by himself, qualified his country, and France ended up winning the whole tournament. His only 2 goals in his 142 international games/15 year carrer. Sometimes, it just takes one game, just a few minutes, to become a legend.

As an Englishman who’s love for football has been for all my life I gotta say that video got me close to tears as silly as it sounds- it’s not just a sport, it’s hope, it’s to celebrate something when you’ve got nothing to be happy about in your day to day life, it’s something to look forward to and more often then not get angry about but that makes the joyous times even more special. FWIW Denmark won the title the same way Greece did years later. A strong defence and relying on counter-attacks to give them a goal or two. As a Dane it was wonderful to experience but the playstyle, looking back, wasn't really that impressive. The 1986 Danish team was way better and creative than the Euro '92 champions.

Chicagoan here: never too interested in sports in general as a youth, but I went to high school with a lot of Bosnians and Mexicans who were really excited about the game they played here prior to the w014 World Cup. I decided to ask around and started kicking around with some friends and loved it. Watching that year’s World Cup was astonishing - and having a pitch right around the corner was a real blessing. Been in love ever since. Watched a good amount of these moments live on TV - especially in public at bars and parties - and you’re all just screaming and stunned, having witnessed magic. Even though it all already looks so impressive, once you play and can try to conceptualize the real difficulty and rarity of such goals, especially in-game - it’s truly astonishing. Beautiful game, indeed.

Bin dippers
@OldDevlin
@OldDevlin 2 жыл бұрын
@@thequietman760 For EtS guys, this insult (bin dippers) comes from the 80s when Thatcher's Tory government brutalised working class communities. It hit Liverpool especially hard, with record breaking numbers of people having to leave their homes to move elsewhere where there were more job opportunities. Liverpudlians really fell on hard times and became some of the poorest people in England. As a result of their poverty, and children going hungry, Mancs went the classy route of declaring Liverpudlians (scousers) as "bin dippers", insinuating that's how they got their food...digging through garbage. So, the supposed "bin dippers" insult is a great example of an insult saying more about the user than the perceived victim. Mancs, using working class poverty and hungry children as something to mock and laugh at. Ironically, Liverpool is doing well for itself nowadays, and is economically better off than Manchester, was Europe's first Capital of Culture, and has lower crime statistics than Manchester, but Mancs being a little slower than most other people, still cling on to a 40 year old insult which is as outdated as their city. One day they'll realise that saying "bin dippers" only backfires on them and leaves everybody laughing at their expense. Welcome to the 21st century, Manchester 😂

11:09 - "controlled chaos". That's a really great description of the entire game to be honest. From the perspective of a Brit, most American sports seem to stop and start all the time, brief moments of brilliance between periods of waiting around (honourable exception of basketball, which I think is great). Football moves, is fluid like liquid and even seems alive at times. That's the beauty of it.

I watched the 2018 World Cup final in a public viewing on a croatian beach on holiday. Croatia was a bit of an unexpected finalist. I think they never were in a final before. The croatian fans were partying in the whole city like I never saw it before. And even after the loss, they were celebrating like they won the whole thing. People drinking EVERYWHERE. Roads where basically full of car convoys.. people on their car roofs with horns and flags, bengalos and whatever you need to celebrate. Noise levels were crazy even long after the match. I loved it. Such a proud folk. Even the police didn't really care. Or at least nobody gave a fuck about them.

I'm Brazillian, so I guess I can talk a little about football. Football is such a great sport, it touches so many people. It doesn't matter what you're doing, or what team you cheer, but in a world cup everyone comes together to watch your national team play. In Brazil we have this culture, since we are little kids, you play football and most of the time your dream is to become a professional. I had the opportunity to go to stadiums here where I live, and is simply amazing. Even when games finish 0-0, you have the feeling that something good was taken from it. We have a lot of legendary games here, I recommend to anyone reading this, Botafogo X Santos final da Taça Brasil (Both teams were the base for Brazil first three world cup win, and they played the final of a Brazilian cup in the late 60'). The other game I suggest is Santos x Flamengo (Ronaldinho x Neymar) Ronaldinho that day, made it rain, it was unbelievable

Can be speculated that the colors of the team came from there, the team has had many of Newell's related players over the years and also their first Trainer and the 2020 2021 trainer came from the same institution, club wich also by chance formed messi when young and had Maradona play for it for a season. Man it open up my heart and bring all of my childhood memories back, the greatest moments of football game in history of this world all those legendary players and everything it's amazing to see.. And a real reason is that the fans, the atmosphere is emotional, and the pressure is very high and tight in big moments so fans are very serious on the game in those moments they normally don't do the chants, but it will be good to include too, and also there should be defensives and greatest goal keepers moments It will be very more satisfying...

I'm an Italian guy and last year I was able to see my national team triumphing at the European championship, I would say unexpectedly. All wonderful, but never like when in 2006, when I was twenty, I saw Italy win the world championship, you can't what you can feel, if you haven't had the good fortune to live such a moment, the collective joy, the mass delirium of an entire nation that no longer goes to sleep because you can only celebrate all together, eternal moments!!!

15:30...i was 10 at that time and die hard Liverpool fan since 2002. I still remember me and my brother watched the game in TV at 3am morning. I literally cried. I didn't know what was going on. My brother die hard Manu fan were saying Ruben Liverpool won.. Liverpool won the biggest Cup. I couldn't even comprehend how big Champion league was. I couldn't understand English back then because I'm from Malaysia. English was the language we talk least at that time. The sheer happiness I had was infinite. Furthermore my mom always wakes up at 6am to wake us up to get ready for school. It was a nightmare. We turned off the TV and pretend like we were asleep. I will always cherish that moment and will pass down the memories to my kids.

The MLS for men is now a 28 team league, but lacks promotion and relegation. It has teams in most big cities and Canada. Now established, academies are bringing through many young players. Quite a few of them now play in Europe (e.g. Christian Pulisic). The newest team is Charlotte FC, they expect a crowd of about 70000 for their first home match. They are away to DC United in their first game on Saturday.
