We need to come together as a community and ask Ian and the record company to re-release those out of print box-sets. These are excellent. Maybe create a Bandcamp or do a Kickstarter campaign for each so that they don't have to front any money, kind of like an on-demand release, could include Blu-ray instead for DVD for those of us who prefer this format. We need to continue supporting physical media and artists who still believe in it.

great series phil...your enthusiasm for jethro tull and these amazing sets shines through. i hope they go on to do crest of a knave..but under wraps completetists will want also.

I wasn't aware of the reissue project until relatively recently, we need the label to re-press the out of print reissues so we can collect them all! I'm fully on board physical media and support 100% artists that still put their work on disc. I'll give them my money gladly :)

This is the best sounding of the Tull sets. I never used to listen to working John or crossfire but I love them now. Nice clean sound. Coruisk is great

Very well done series Phil, thanks for the info. , What amazes me about this era, is how much material was produced during a relatively short amount of time, every year there was a new Tull album. And when you look at the tour schedule, they worked their arses off, doing 5,6,7 (sometimes more) shows with one day off here and there...things have changed nowadays, obviously. I'm looking forward to the next batch of deluxe editions from Tull and Black Sabbath !! Cheers

Great reviews of this series of deluxe editions. I also have them all. I started with ”Thick as a brick” back in 2012, and bought rest of them on releasedays. Just found out that ”Broadsword” will be released in september. I’ve got it on preorder. 5 cd:s and 3 dvd:s and a 164 page book! It’s really a ”monster edition” that I’m not gonna miss! Take care!🤘

I'm one of those people who just absolutely loathed (and still do) prog rock, and was so relieved when punk rock came along to blow all that self-indulgent nonsense of endless solos and "playing scales very fast" away. But for some reason Jethro Tull have been the exception that proves the rule (mostly because of the lyrics I guess, plus the fact they had some quite captivating commercial singles in the early days) and I completely agree with everything you say here. I think this series is probably the best physical music collection there is out there - more than reasonable pricing, consistency across many titles (which NEVER happens normally), and clearly put together by someone who really cares. This "A" edition surprised me because my recollection from buying it when it first came out was that I really didn't like it at all, but I'm loving it second time around now I'm hearing it in this edition. Can't wait for "Broadsword" which is one of my favourite albums by the band, and it was due a year ago, so fingers crossed we get an announcement SOON!

Just bought this after avoiding for years, never listen to it previously, but I’m pleasantly surprised and believe it is very much underrated. Sure it’s not the best Tull album but it is still pretty good.

Phil, Amazing amount of material from Jethro Tull. I don't know of a group that can come close to the audio and info packed material as Tull. Thanks and all the best to you and yours.

A has some great tracks, Black Sunday, Flyingdale (sic) flyer, Pine Marten's Jig, And Further On, which stands up with any of the early folk trilogy period stuff. The live set is particularly good here, with a good selection of the new album played. I bought the VHS Slipstream tape which came out maybe later in 1981. I think this was priced at £29.99, but there was so little video available to buy, our HMV in Newcastle had a shelf no longer than 2ft with a handful of tapes on. It was eye wateringly expensive at the time, but I had a big jar full of coins which I cashed in which made it less painful. It makes these deluxe releases 40 years later seem like the bargain of a lifetime, no wonder they have shot up in price once sold out. Keep up the good work Phil and onwards to Broadsword the last true great Tull album and Tour, for me anyway

It's funny how some bands are stuck in time And so they sort of fade away pretty quick but with bands like JT they last a long time because they experiment, they are not stuck in the mud. When I read the Comments I see that some fans Are also stuck in the mud they want the next album to sound just like the album they already have. I don't see why they would want a new one. just play the 1 they have over and over. I want to hear new things from Jethro Tull, because I think Ian is brilliant and whatever he writes is going to be fantastic And I can Hardly wait to hear the next album of Jethro Tull.

Hey Phil, cheers for another great video. I really like this album & I'm slowly getting as many of the Tull sets as I can.The 80s thing never bothered me, maybe it's an age thing. Obviously my favourite tull albums are the 70s classics but I've always dug A. Thanks for the hard work eventhough I can tell its a labour of love.

I just bagged the A set for £12.99 ! I wish I could get Passion Play for less than fifty quid.

I liked "A" when I bought it in 1980 but I was new to Tull then and didn't have the emotional investment with respect to lineups. Later I did lament the change but by Broadsword I had all Tull albums and loved that 1982 LP. "A" rises in my ranking to the upper levels. I truly like it.

When that music hits me I feel no pain.let that music play on and keep it spinning for your soul and body and mind.

I got the 2 disc version for Slipstream. I only like Black Sunday on the album. I am hoping they release Under Wraps in this series. Totally different sound, but a great album which knocks this one out of the ballpark.

Phil just wondering do you have Jethro Tull Around The World Live.It's the same size box set with 4 dvds of concert footage from 1970 to 2005

What can you see think ad a brick, aqualung and war child. After that is gets very musical and kinda hard to follow. Awesome band.

When you look at all boxes, there's one that doesn't fit right. TAAB...also: No extras.. And now comes the 50th Box set... No extras, again? "At least make the spine look..." 😎

Having been disappointed by Stormwatch I never even bothered buying this album when it was released. It was at this stage I knocked the band on the head for a good 7 years and it was the album Crest Of A Knave that brought me back to fold so to speak. To be honest I knocked a lot of bands on the head when we got into the 80's and I've always considered it to be the worst decade ever for music. I did get to hear "A" upon its release though because my older brother brought it and having heard it I very much thought that Stormwatch had very little to offer and this album had bugger all 😊😊😊. To be honest, when they were releasing the Tull back catalogue with these Medibooks I was gonna give this album a miss basically because this album never said a Dickie Bird to me. The very fact that these packages come with a book was the very thing that enticed me to buy this package and not the album. I guess I wanted to find out WTF! went wrong lol. However, I had never seen the Slipstream film they had made simply because when the album came out I never bothered with them again till Crest Of A Knave. I do enjoy that film and the live concert that comes with this package. I also think some of the songs on "A" were better performed live. But still, to this day the studio album does not speak to me at all.

A is not such a big departure from the Folk Trilogy when you listen closely - the acapella opening of Fylingdale Flyer illustrates that. I’d say it’s a stronger album than Stormwatch, though most people won’t agree since they haven’t given it a chance since 1980. Jumpsuits were a bad look, though!
