A very good review, Phil. I agree that the presentation of these albums is simply the best around. You may recall the book format for The Faces complication of 2004 called ' Five Guys Walk Into a Bar...'. An excellent package too! However, the Jethro Tull albums' wealth of detail in this format far outstrips what has gone before and ANY band or artist with a rich history should look to the design, detail and care these Jethro Tull packages contain. Absolutely superb!!

I have all of them! It is past the 50th anniversary of "Broadsword and the Beast". Several months ago they said that they were working on it, and it will be a big package. After "Broadsword", I HOPE that they will NOT wait for the 50th anniversary - they get too far apart. I hope to have one or two per year.

They are by far the best box set or package that has ever been put out. Like yourself, I have them all and brought them as they were released so I never wound up paying silly money for some of them that have gone out of print. They are what I would call an honest package simply because they are sold at an honest price point that offers you tremendous value for the buck or in this case it might be the Book lol. These packages give you a lot more than what expensive box sets will give you and in my opinion, any box set should be a lot cheaper simply because the more that's in it the less you should have to pay to make it look like you are getting value for the buck. Many moons ago a boxset contained more than one album and it may have had 4 or 6 different albums in it, unlike today where most box sets tend to focus on one particular album as these packages do. The price of a double album cost less than buying two single albums so it made sense that the more albums you got in one go as in a boxset the cheaper it should cost you. The biggest majority of expensive box sets that are put out today are filled with junk that people of our age would not have any real interest in such as the Immersion Box sets that Pink Floyd put out. The musical content inside is very little compared to all the SWAG that comes in them and most of the swag such as the scarf and coasters is not even fit for the purpose they were made for in the first place. Honestly, a box set like that is not worth no more than £60 in my opinion, not the hundred or so pounds that they originally retailed for and even that will not give you what these Tull packages will give you for half of that price. These Tull packages put 99% of the box sets made today to shame.

Very solid set. It has Teacher and Witches promise which are two classics. 17 sounds a lot better than the old remastered version too. Inside is a song I didn’t listen to much previously but it sounds really good now remixed. There’s several album songs over this series that have become bonus tracks. Old greaser, warm sporran, working John, crossfire, crew nights are others that have been winners from this series.

Hi Phil - just discovered your channel and your excellent Jethro Tull box set reviews. I am a Tull fan from day 1, and saw them numerous times in the UK in the late 60's early 70's. My favourite album ?? WOW - to be honest their first 5 albums are simply brilliant. There were other great albums that followed but their 14th album, Broadsword ... is one of my all time favourites. As you say the format is simply outstanding. I have 6 of them, + the Cigar Box set and the 20 years 3CD box set - stunning. The problem I have now is trying to get hold of the other box sets in this series. Some people want the earth for them, and I am not that rich lolol. I will continue looking but its going to be a struggle, hopefully I'll come across them along the way ?? Great reviews and I'll be watching the rest of your utube review series. In my top 3 Tull albums. I hold it more dear than Aqualung. Just love it.

Like Stand Up, I'm not a massive fan of this album. I do like the associated singles and do have a live album of the same material anyway. I may get it or may not. Too many other albums I do require more. Nice video though Phil.

Phil - the first four albums were all reissued before TAAB, and that was the first to appear in the now familiar book format as far as I remember ( I bought them as they appeared). It wasn’t that they decided against the book format for Benefit and the others - they just hadn’t used that format yet. I can only infer that after TAAB the feedback was so positive, or they realised the next release (PP) would also fit that format, who knows? But after TAAB it was the book format for sure.

Maybe as a album but it contains some of JT best tracks regardless . . with you their to help me is unique . . Society your a woman .. Witches Promise .. Teacher . .
